  1. This is my son's first Xmas in his own place...he moved out earlier this year. For Xmas, I bought him a 19" tool box and filled it up with all sorts of tools and items. It's a major pain when you need a certain tool and you don't have it. He's going to find out, as did I, when you first move out of the house, you learn to fix just about everything. It'll be easier for him though, he has that damn internet. I can't complain too much ... I call him whenever I need tech help.
  2. CGC - "I may be incompetent. I may have absolutely no integrity. I may put out a very subpar product. I may be all that stuff, including just sucking at my job, but as long as people keep giving me their money, I don't give a rat's ___."
  3. It truly is startling that, even though CGC has become such a joke of a company, nobody has walked through the open door removed CGC from the top of the mountain. It's not just the stupid long and manipulated tats. It's not just the idiotic decisions being made. It's not just the complete lack of Quality Control, or the questionable grading or even the Phantom Flaws and cookie cutter notes ... it's the "I don't give a ____" attitude that CGC has so blatantly exhibited for each of these. Actions, incidents, mistakes, et al, can be fixed. Attitudes can't. They need to be adjusted. If that doesn't happen, and soon, and from the top down, CGC won't be around very much longer, imo. I'm pretty sure there are other companies out there with the same combination of incompetence, greed, and lack of integrity, but I'm not aware of them.
  4. Exactly. The waiter can be the coolest dude in the world, who smiles from ear to ear when he brings me my 25 glasses of water while I wait for my food. And when it finally does come, it totally sucks. I'll never go back there again. I'll go to Denny's first.
  5. CGC making false statements. Who here is surprised?
  6. My wife once asked me to spread my comics on the floor so we could do the deed on them. She is now my ex-wife.
  7. I know you're talking about the resto/custom label thing, but the first thing that I noticed was that apparently someone wanted a Spidey label on FF#40. Is Spidey in that issue or something?
  8. You probably get that value question a lot. I bet if you put that ^ statement somewhere on the form, your life would be a lot easier.
  9. Why would someone post something lame enough to get scrubbed in a thread about Peter David suffering a stroke. Some people just can't help themselves, I guess.
  10. One of my favorite writers, also. His little war with TM was laughable. TM never stood a chance going up against PD in a war of words. But I Digress...
  11. Sounds like they might've just drove by. FedEx, from what I've heard, is very good at being not very good. CGC has stated they went to FedEx as their sole shipper because it's better for us. And they stopped letting us change the delivery on our shipments because it's also better for us. Um, thanks?
  12. <--- knows nothing about coins What do you mean you can't clean coins? Obviously you can wipe them off with a tissue. You mean collector's can't use cleaning agents?
  13. I do have a certain presser thaT I've always used, but I don't think I'm allowed to say who.
  14. 14 days or no? Secondary market or no? An official statement is needed.
  15. "Should I Press with CCS?" My opinion... If you're going to have your books pressed, never use CCS. Use a different presser.
  16. That would bother the heck out of me as well. Is there a reason they did it like that?
  17. I'm certain this is true, at least for some of the time. Waaay too many examples of the notes not matching the book or the grade being miles off.
  18. Turn Around Time -- how long before you get the books back. Not sure about the different shipments or the writing questions. Someone else will chime in with answers ... except @revat, he'll just tell you to call CS.
  19. Two thoughts... 1. If you choose to submit them under the Economy tier and they get bumped up (which is possible, but not a certainty), you'll get charged the extra but that's it. You're not penalized for using the wrong tier so really you're just paying what you were supposed to anyways. In addition, remember, and I'm unclear on this, but if CGC decides to bump you up to the higher tier, I believe your books DO NOT get the benefit of getting the higher tier's tat. I very well could be wrong, though. 2. If you use the Economy tier, and CGC damages, loses, or some other way of f'ing up your book(s), which is a very real possibility these days, the most you'll get is $400/book.
  20. Had this one back in the 80s. Sadly, wife exerted her authority and in the trash it went.
