  1. Yes, we've seen these words countless times ... "complimentary reholder with shipping on us". How many here actually believe that it's free? Those costs (of all those 1000s of MEs) are built in somewhere.
  2. He must be making good coinage, regardless of the 100s of ME, otherwise I don't understand why he doesn't do what you suggest.
  3. This screenshot (of this thread) is from January, 2021. So, either CGC has been looking to prevent these shards for at least 2+ years or they simply said "screw it, we choose not to fix this". The first possibility shows how inept this company is. The second possibility shows how they are not only without integrity, but it also shows how they lie to it's customers (they've repeatedly said how they are trying to fix this issue). From the shown post by TTT, " I decided to keep it as is in order to not have to send it in for reholder...". IMO, this is exactly what CGC was/is hoping people decide to do.
  4. I love it! Reminds me of the days when the local Knights of Columbus hall would hold a Vegas Night on Friday and a small comic show on Saturday.
  5. When I read this, I was reminded of something I read a long time ago... "If you see an ahole in the morning, ok, you saw an ahole. If you see aholes all day long, chances are you're the ahole."
  6. And if your friend hadn't called? I wonder how common it is to have incorrect data entered into the label system? Of course, we can only take CGC's word that this was only an "oops", instead of a CYA scenario.
  7. It's not possible to give an accurate grade based on photos. If it were, why would people have to send their books off to grading companies? Why is it that the opinion of a CGC grader is given more weight than an opinion of anyone else when the book is in hand? Especially these days. If John at CGC says "this looks like 9.6", and Scott, standing in his kitchen, says "this looks like a 7.0", is John's opinion automatically given more weight? Is Scott's opinion ludicrous? * I seem to remember that CGC would offer their opinion on books being sold on Ebay. For a price, CGC would offer their opinion on the grade of a book before you decided to bid on it. Not only seems like a money grab by CGC, but a complete waste of money by buyers. I don't think they do it anymore.
  8. The OP must've been dealing with someone other than the dealer himself. It isn't normal, is it, for a dealer to have someone else grade his books ... as these weren't CGC books (unless the op cracked them all out, but then he definitely overpaid).
  9. I never really understood the 'no refunds on CGC books' policy that sellers seem to have everywhere. I know I'm in the extreme minority, but I firmly believe that a person should be happy with their purchase (afterall, they work hard for that money), and if they're not, for whatever reason, I happily refund their money. I sometimes think this person does it because that person does it.
  10. +1 It's not free to have a booth at a convention. The dealers need to make their money back some how to justify being there. How do you think they do that?
  11. "...it is ludicrous to dispute the grade of a CGC comic book." I'm glad things worked out for you, but I strongly disagree with this.
  12. @MattM CS"These submissions were split off onto individual invoices per your packing slip. These were separated because your X-Men 50 had requested a custom label." I've never done a custom label...is this outlined on the form somewhere so submitters know that a custom label will cost them the price of the label plus an extra shipping cost?
  13. One of my last Walgreen pickups was like that ... and it really scares me. The girl behind the counter (new girl) said I looked honest so I didn't have to show her my I.D. So as I was walking out I was thinking ... this girl has never seen me before - there's $2,000 of winnings from CL in the box - and she didn't even want to see my I.D.
  14. Just give him his refund and when you relist it up the price to make up any incurred cost.
  15. I know there are a bunch of coinees and card collectors on here. I'm neither so I don't know ... are notes given on those?
  16. Let me guess, this is what they said ... "Damn! We f'd up bad."
  17. This decision was probably based on feedback from prominent members of the collecting community.
  18. I wonder what they're looking for when they open 1st Class mail. Snakes and stuff?
  19. They'll just give you a coupon for half off your next pizza.
