  1. CGC has given 2 reasons for making this decision. They are the first 2 sentences of their announcement. The first sentence - "Because CGC members now have free access to Grader Notes, not as many defects will be listed on the certification label." This is false. Well, not completely. It would be more accurate if the word "some" would've been included. I hope CGC didn't intentionally try to mislead people, but I feel, given their history, they probably did. The second sentence ... "Based on feedback from prominent members of the collecting community, Certified Guaranty Company® (CGC®) is implementing a change that will reduce the number of defects that are identified on the comic book label. " Although, it can't be proven to be false, none of these so-called "prominent members" have come forward. The general consensus is that it also is false and CGC is, once again, trying to mislead people. It's pretty telling that CGC hasn't addressed either of these points even though they have been asked about them since the announcement came out. I have personally talked to 2 different people at CS (Jennifer and Dean) and neither have answered my questions ... Why was this decision made? and What are the upsides to CGC comic buyers that this decision brings? Wouldn't it be nice if just once our beloved (or once beloved) CGC was honest with us?
  2. From the press release... "CGC is discontinuing the use of the term “incomplete” on its label, as well as the terms “affects story” and “does not affect story” when parts are missing from the interior of a comic. "
  3. Remove the word 'Economy' from your statement and you can be on my team.
  4. My membership comes to an end this month. Can we still track our submissions?
  5. This is so blatant, they aren't even trying to hide their intentions.
  6. I was just thinking to myself ... what if I bought a slab & discovered a pube in the slab (or any foreign material).
  7. Drat! I knew it was too good to be true. Way to rain on my parade.
  8. "(1) Is there a time limit on a "free" reholder when there is an obvious defect" Mike, I realize you didn't make the rule, but do you know why this is? Myself, I don't see why either would matter here (time limit or original submitter). But maybe I'm just not looking at it properly.
  9. I'm not 100% certain, but it seems like the last time I paid for my auction winnings, there was also an option to pay via cryptocurrency which gave you a small discount.
  10. I arrived at this world of comic grading fairly recently ... less than a decade ago. At that time, and for years afterwards, I considered CGC a very respectable business. A while back, my opinion of them had started to decline. That opinion has never stopped declining.
  11. There sure were a lot of 'X'-titles back then. Is it that way still?
  12. It's one thing to make unpopular changes. It's another to be dishonest about the reasons for those changes. I don't know, maybe that's not unusual in the business world. What I do know, however, is that CGC seems to be dishonest about pretty much everything ... should anyone be surprised then with, not only these changes, but with the reasons given for making them?
  13. At this point, the TATs are a moot point to me. It's been so long that I've just given up. Plus, I've long since stopped submitting to CGC for grading. I've got 3 Economy subs in there, but the last one was months ago. Maybe some day I'll start again, who knows? It all depends on TATs, QC, and company attitude (which is a direct reflection of it's leader).
  14. Would I be too out of line if I asked that you share some QC procedures? Is the statement in the pic accurate?
  15. I noticed that Matt Nelson didn't really touch on the "why" they are doing this.
  16. "pretty good" is very subjective. What is acceptable to you, may not be even close to acceptable to someone else.
  17. I, also, have a stack for grading that's constantly growing. Unfortunately, it's going to take more than lip service to get me to resume submitting.
