  1. Seriously? How is this possible? After all this time, CGC does not know where they are coming from?
  2. The first time I got scammed on Ebay was when I paid for a hi-grade NN, the seller took the money and ran.
  3. 246 Actually it would be more than that. If the box was opened on 6/21, they received it much earlier.
  4. re: scratches on slabs It's been suggested in the past that the material received might've already had the scratches on them. We can throw that theory out now. We now know that they've been happening 'in house'. If they have equipment coming in to deal with this, doesn't that mean that they know where they're coming from? Are we to believe that they just now figured out where these scratches are occurring? I can only speak for myself, but I would've thought/hoped that CGC would've taken steps to prevent them after hearing the first hundred or so complaints. It's nice that CGC is finally taking steps to diminish the frequency of all these QC issues, but I still have some serious misgivings concerning the people making the decisions over there.
  5. On June 6th I received a note saying: "we’re starting a push on that this week." Can you be more specific on what this means? - They're starting to grade Economy submissions? (this would mean that they stopped) - They're grading them faster? (probably not good) - They're pulling graders from one tier to help with Economy? (Not sure if this is good or bad. If this is true, though, it probably should've been done months earlier.) - They've added brand new graders. (Hmmm, we'll see how this one works out.)
  6. In Jim Gaffigan voice..."Hey buddy, I like Wal-mart."
  7. Just curious... What do you guys do with something like that? Crack it and throw it in a drek box, sell it at auction, something else?
  8. I guess you could split the difference and price it as a 9.7
  9. You'll have to forgive me, my cynical self is making me type this... I suppose it is possible that QC is doing exactly what they've been told to do.
  10. I'd probably be very difficult to work for. I'd show all these pics (wrong labels, upside down books, etc) to the QC people and simply say, "Do your job". Yeah, I know, that's too much to expect from a person.
  11. I've said it before. QC at CGC has to be one of the easiest jobs in the world. You have to do absolutely nothing.
  12. I buy the OSPG for everything it has, except the prices.
  13. Hmmm, it's probably a good thing this guy contacted CGC. If he hadn't, I wonder when, if ever, anything would've been done.
  14. I'm a pretty small fish, but I can't believe I'm the smallest. Nor can I believe that I'm alone in my thinking. I've been submitting for close to a decade...dozens and dozens of submissions. I started collecting when I was a wee lad, way back in the mid 70s. But after 10 years or so of collecting, I had to get out of it. College, marriage, kids, etc,. The bottom line is simply that I couldn't afford it anymore. Then, the divorce happened and even with child support, I found myself with lots of disposable income . I decided to get back into collecting. Doing some reading, I kept hearing about this 'slabbing'. I wondered what this was all about and decided to send in a submission. It was a VALUE sub (I still had all my comics from the 70s) and even though it didn't result in as much profit as I was hoping for, it was fun. Remember that word...fun. I submitted for years. Living by myself, I needed a hobby, something to occupy my time, and this was mine. Don't get me wrong, it's feels pretty good to get hundreds of dollars for a comic that you paid a quarter for, but that wasn't why I did it. I did it because I enjoyed doing it. It was fun. It's not fun anymore. With all the *stuff* going on (that's been increasing, not decreasing), I made the decision months ago not to submit anymore books to have CGC grade them. Just too stressful. I decided to look elsewhere. Like I said in the beginning of my post, I can't believe I'm alone in my thinking, and I hope CGC realizes this. My hope is that (like the title of that moderation thread) CGC turns over a new leaf. I totally understand that my stress tolerance is not the same as others, but personally, I've reached that line. So, as @Nic8612said, I've lost faith. And CGC has lost my business. Possibly I'll start submitting again someday, but right now I don't need the stress in my life.
  15. "It is my understanding that we are now grading economy submissions. " "I cannot confirm that grading for economy stopped."
  16. That might possibly make some sort of sense *if* CGC was even grading Economy books, It looks like no one has even so much as looked at an Economy book for a few months now.
  17. I'm very naive when it comes to business and how they come to their decisions, but it seems like a comic book grading company with integrity would consider newton rings to be unacceptable.
  18. I had a flipbook once and told them I wanted the back cover in front. They said they'd do it this once, but that it was against policy. Not sure if that relates to this book however.
  19. "Just increase them little by little. Maybe nobody will notice."
  20. Were you happy with the results?
