  1. Do you really think if OPG or CGC looked carefully at both books, and weren't just going off dealer tradition that they would even be able to make an argument for the 54? There seems to be a clear consensus among those who have read these books, and heck, it looks like there may even be a consensus among those who have just read this thread. In about a week the market will speak pretty clearly as to which is the bigger book. The only question is who will listen?
  2. Many words have multiple meanings in the dictionary, but I believe you are using canon as a noun. The wiki author uses "canonical" as an adjective to describe the very nature of our debate in it's traditional form.
  3. So if OAAW 81 can read "The Rock of Easy Co" on the front cover, have the dude that would later be universally recognized as Sgt Rock on the cover and still be considered a prototype how the heck can you justify BB 54 as a first appearance when the Teen Titans are mentioned nowhere in the issue? The world is introduced to the Teen Titans (Splash page BB 60) in the exact same paragraph as it is introduced to Wonder Girl. One has never been without the other. All the doctored DC reprints in the world won't change that.
  4. Brut 33, a bottle of Boones Farm, and a Tony's Pizza.
  5. you can hit a little link on the left to sort to only comics. And so can you, DF. What's the story with the Micronauts, Divad? Is there speculation surrounding Captain Universe? Micronauts was one of my gateway comics as a youngster.
  6. Plenty of red flags here, gang. I hope this ends well for everyone's sake.
  7. Certified funds should be deposited at the new institution immediately. This can be done in the form of cash or a bank check made payable to cash. If you changed institutions and deposited a personal check, and then proceeded to stuff the channel with multiple transactions you need to communicate with your banker who set up your account and link your checking account to a reserve line, credit card or some other unsecured type of credit line that doesn't require an approval that will take longer than 10 minutes.

I have had strong sales on my copies. I even have a 9.4 sitting at around $500 in auction that ends in 15 days. That is a good price. MSH 13 seems steady as well. It may just be the mid-grades.

  10. That could've been a BIN as well. Sellers will never get more than their asking price.
  11. Pleasant, courteous and professional. Great comic shopping experience.
  12. As an outside observer who both buys and sells I could go either way on this. I believe the decision is yours. You probably have enough to land this fellow on the PL, but sometimes it can be wise if we deter to the better angels of our nature.
  13. Avengers #87 heating up? That's an awfully important early bronze age book within the T'Challa mythos.
  14. I might consider buying the dip on the MM #1 and Shazam #28. Good opportunity to pick up doubles and send them in for grading. By the time you get yours back the market might be less saturated.
  15. That's a beautiful book, Jimbo, and one heckuva cover.
  16. I don't know, Alex. The "liar, liar pants on fire" argument can be pretty convincing.
  17. For the record, I cannot argue intent. All I can do is provide my interpretation of the author's chosen words. You are correct, Squeggs. I have often seen "canon" used to describe a body of work. For example, Confederacy of Dunces is part of the Southern literary canon. I believe the author describing the BB 60 is using "canonical" as an adjective. In other words, he is aware that 54 begat 60. He is using "canonical" as an allegory to interject a clear example of why this reasoning is invalid and weak. Otherwise the author would use 1st full, 1st cameo, or just plain 1st appearance of the Teen Titans.
  18. You are a scholarly poet, Squeggs. As a student of literature myself (Bachelors degree) I found it interesting terminology to use in the description. It's the first time Ive seen the word "canonical" used to describe the first appearance of any team or character in comics. IMO, I find it to be a good choice of words given the circumstances.
  19. So would chat board scholars consider this thread the first canonical appearance of sfcityduck?
  20. I'm spotting you 18% over the last graded sale and I will forfeit my ability to bid.
  21. So what would you care to wager on the hammer price of the 60 9.0 on comicconnect beating the 54 9.0 price on Link, Duck? Ill take over $650 all day long.
  22. $8365-Single highest graded Pacific Coast pedigree. 9.6. Unsure of pq. This was back in 3/2008.
  23. 3 copies on ebay total vs 12 of the 54. Someone is snatching these up. A BB 60 was auctioned on the sales forum last night and the 2nd bidder hit the BIN. 7 pending sales of the 54 versus one of the 60 on Comiclink. To be fair, there is the aforementioned 9.0 60 on Metro vs 1 7.0 54. FWIW, I believe that 9.0 will beat the sales price of the pending 9.0 #54 on comiclink ($650).
