Another non-payer. A little surprised by this one since the buyer's feedback is int he thousands: starrynight20

This is a first. I got positive feedback on a sale that the buyer never paid for. Maybe he just missed that he had an unpaid item? I did send an invoice after a few days of non-payment, so the buyer would have been notified multiple times.

And look what I just found:

Wish I would have seen this earlier. And many more like this as I keep scrolling.

I hope he didn't purposefully damage my book for a partial refund.

This is feedback he's left for other purchases? Not your sale to him?

I'm trying to figure out what the hell is going on with this book.

That upper right corner looks like it was completely torn free from the book.....as the art work from the corner piece no longer lines up with the rest of the cover.

But, then......how did it get put back almost perfectly in place?

And why does that edge of the book look like it was sonically welded into the inner well at some point.....but no longer is?

    I mean.....just......

    P.S.

I'm going to guess there is some sort of shaken comic syndrome going on here. Perhaps the book got wedged in the corner (I had this happen to a book I sold and shipped), and then something jostled it free but the corner was stuck, so the whole piece ripped away. It being stuck would explain the damage we see to the back edge in the original post.

I think it’s a safe bet X-Men will see a major bump when they’re finally introduced in the MCU, but any key you want from them is already super expensive as is and widely known.

Since we're in the Bronze forum, I agree that that will be the case for books of that era, but I wouldn't be surprised if the MCU finds something interesting to do with a more obscure character (there are a ton to pick from in the Modern age) that causes a surprising spike.

when did Stan write this?  I dont recall any "woke" comics stories until 1970, Black GL, drug stories, Lois Lane is black etc.   Most dont realize that the 60s didnt happen until the 70s for 90% of America.  The Summer of Love was 1968 and Woodstock was 1969.  It was the early 70s when everybody started wearing bellbottoms and wild clothes (by everybody I mean all generations!). This is when "free Love" went mainstream too.  Stories of car key swapping parties.  Divorces were way up too as middle aged men and women questioned their boring straight-laced trapped lives. The sexual revolution spread all across the country.  So did porn after Deep Throat and videocassettes.  In fact being woke started 70 years ago with the Civil Rights marches. Accepting the radical concept that all minorities races and lifestyles deserve respect and acceptance went from Civil Rights, the sexual revolution, to Womens Lib, to Gay rights.  30 years later laws were passed protecting them, and all heck broke loose going the other way again.  Time to go back to sleep (to be NOT awakened from the old status quo).

or is all the above too woke in 2023?  or the Boards?

I dont read todays comics but hav heard about all the stunts they've tried out recently.  Some sound dumb, but they are stunts, geared just to get attention, Anything to drum up sales.

1970. The source indicated it was in Avengers 74

  6. Someone is going to be disappointed here. The description indicates Newsstand, and the main pic is a Newsstand, but that appears to be a stock image, and the second image is a Direct, and the seller confirmed via message that it's a Direct.

Starting to read it now.  They made the free digital download available for backers while they are still prepping the physical copies for shipment.

Anyone else pick this up?  102 pages.

I have the PDF. Still wondering if they're ever going to actually produce the printed edition.

I think either way, it's kinda cool to look back at how they addressed very adult topics in comic books and managed to weave them into our collective comic book conscious. I think I enjoy all the commentary they tried to tie into their stories, with Silver Surfer and Warlock being my personal favorites.

It would be interesting to hear from the older crowd who bought these when they came out if they felt the commentary was heavy handed at the time. It's easy for us to think that new comics are trying to force feed us editorial viewpoints because of our current climate - I would love to hear if old timers thought books like X-Men, Surfer or Luke Cage (or their DC counterparts, which I am not familiar with) were a good read or if they felt those books were too "woke" for them at the time.

We know from Stan himself that some fans did feel that way. But it would be hard to determine how prevalent that opinion was.

The buyer is salvadorlanuza11. He just had another feedback comment added indicating non-payment. So 4 of his 15 feedback indicates he's a non-paying buyer, and who knows how many transactions on which sellers didn't do that.

Confirming that this one never paid, and has another new feedback indicating he didn't pay another sller.

Skybound has the Lego license as well. Turning into the toy universe.

I don't know if the license would allow for that, since those are two different toy companies. Hasbro owns both G.I. Joe and Transformers. If Skybound could get the Power Rangers license, I could see that being incorporated. And for and giggles, lets try to wedge My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms, and Peppa Pig in there too.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR TRANSFORMERS:RISE OF THE BEASTS DISCUSSED BELOW, IN CASE YOU CARE ABOUT THAT SORT OF THING!

Noticed that my copy of G.I. Joe and the Transformers #1 on my GPA account has been nudging upward.

      Reveal hidden contents

Apparently related to the new Transformers movie, which indicates a film crossover is coming?

Plenty of raw copies out there for $3-$10, wonder if we'll see a run on them after the weekend. May be worth digging through your dollar bins before the weekend is out. I'm not selling my 9.8 unless it goes ballistic, but asking prices are now double what they were a couple of days ago, and GPA shows the last sold copy was $400. Curious to see where it ends up.

Probably doesn't matter if I put this is spoilers now, but I think it's more because

    Spoiler

Kirkman's new Image Void Rivals series is a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover, reportedly.

I was curious about that too and found this: https://pages.ebay.com/services/forum/sellerprotection.html#:~:text=Sellers aren't able to,those buyers to eBay's attention.&text=You can block buyers with, aren't registered with PayPal.

Short answer is ”Sellers aren’t able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers.”

What’s the buyer’s name, @GeeksAreMyPeeps. Should just add them to the block list. Looks like they’ve done it more than once from their previous feedback…

The buyer is salvadorlanuza11. He just had another feedback comment added indicating non-payment. So 4 of his 15 feedback indicates he's a non-paying buyer, and who knows how many transactions on which sellers didn't do that.

  13. I have a feeling I'm going to have another one to add in a week. I currently have two people bidding up a book that I sold copies of for about $20 previously that's currently sitting at over $50. The current high bidder's feedback:ScreenShot2023-06-03at10_07_50PM.png.90e79c4f676f054c6e9248b5eab06ba2.png

User bought an item. Waiting until it was delivered and then returned the item because they "ordered by mistake". Don't let them do the same to you. Blocked!!!

Did they cover the shipping, or try to get you to cover it? Or do you offer free return shipping?
