So you are saying before this event the CGC shipping department didn't realize how important it was to thoroughly check boxes so they don't throw out a book? Is that what they learned? Their initial response was to lie and hope the person didn't pursue it any further. Saying is should have been handled better is probably a bit of an understatement.

I would offer up all the repeated mistakes that get though QC that I certainly imagine they don't want to see ever day of the forum they don't "learn a lesson" on. I would also throw out there that this isn't some crazy one time set of circumstances. If I ran the shipping department every single person unpacking books would have already been aware that you need to thoroughly check every box so you don't throw out a $4,000 book, but here we are.

You are making a massive assumption here.

The problem is how many people know he exists and can help with their problems? He isn't advertised on their website. You have to make your way to this forum and hope to stumble across him. Its CGC's way of saying we will try to make forum members happy so they don't cause a big stink, while knowing full well he will only ever see a very small fraction of the issues that come up. If you want to give them credit for that so be it.

Now imagine you didn't have CGC Mike on your side. Its insane that he has to personally solves so many problems when probably 99% of people who submit books don't know he exists.

You would think this would be part of training 101 for these guys. Please make sure you completely look through all packages as sometimes there are books on the bottom. But knowing what slips through "QC" it certainly isn't shocking.

Exactly. It shouldn't come to this, but actual video of you packing up the box might be the only answer to this.
