Just finished Showcase: Jonah Hex Vol. 2 and was thinking of reading the rest of the Jonah Hex run as I have all the later issues. The early stuff was fantastic.

excellent show, plenty of good, cheap books.

Barbarian Women Comics #3, just to let you know, the record is not a "flexy", nor is it an "insert". Not sure how they were originally packaged together, but the record is a normal "45" in a sleeve with some crude artwork printed on it. I just recently bought a copy from eBay, because the copy I bought from Donahue years ago did not include the record.

Local shop just got in a counterfeit copy of Cry for Dawn #1, graded by CGC and clearly marked counterfeit. Does that book have any value? I don't see any listings on eBay, either active or closed.

I would recommend asking your question at the Ultraverse Facebook group. Yep, there was the weird package of Firearm #0 with a VHS tape of Firearm. It was on a bubble card, so many copies of Firearm #0 were mangled in that package. I'll usually pick up Firearm #0 if it's cheap and somehow in high grade. There was a variant VHS tape, as well, different colors. Kind of dumb stuff! Firearm #1 was indeed one of the polybagged with a card newsstand editions. Ultraverse also had a couple newsstand variant covers, which are more challenging to find. When I first watched Episode #8, I have to admit I was disappointed. I am a Lynch fan, I have almost every one of his films on DVD, but it was definitely a shock to the system to see something like that as an episode of Twin Peaks. Like Mulholland Drive, on first viewing, I didn't like it. It also doesn't help that I was watching it with my wife and I know she's not too familiar with Lynch's more "non-linear" projects and was probably very confused and hating it. I was intrigued by it though, so I watched it again. I also read some online discussions and the meaning of the episode snapped right into place. Just finished my third viewing today and got even more out of it. I think you just have to willing to be patient with his storytelling. He has a very slow pace and doesn't spell things out for you. His movies at times seem to follow dream logic more than anything else.

ok, let me take the opposite point, why should it be a key? My reasons why it may not be: 1. Crumb was not happy with the way the character was handled during the movie business, was angered by the movie and decided to kill off the character in The People's Comics 2. I don't think underground comix first appearances are generally reasons for books to be worth a ton. It's usually more to do with scarcity or cultural significance. 3. I could be wrong, but Help! #22 doesn't appear to be THAT difficult to find. I've seen many copies over the years.

I have not read them. I usually like to have a complete set of something before I start reading.

Can anyone tell me if Wildman Comics and Stories #11 exists? I picked up a couple more issues of that series, so I am looking to complete it. First, I had to figure out that the first two issues were the issues of Wildman published by Megaton Comics. I was able to find scans of every cover to the series but #11. I don't know if others feel this series is an underground, but since it was done by Grass Green, I regard it as one.

I wish I had bought one of those Tommy the Toilet posters while Don Donahue was selling them. I wish Don was still here to sell anything.

I guess it's generally a waste of time to try to look for comics on Craigslist in my area. A yard sale listed they had comics for sale, so I made the trek there and arrived right at the time the sale was supposed to begin. No comics visible so I asked for them and was told they were gone. Obviously someone contacted them in advance and they sold them beforehand. I was thrilled to have wasted my time.

I'm telling you, they pissed me off way too many times when I lived in Milwaukee. My last visit (when we came to town for a week) was one of the few times I was happy with my dealings with them, as they actually were willing to send someone down into the basement and dig for books for me. I still had to give them a list, but at least they didn't tell me "come back next week" like they have done in the past. Any chance Lost Worlds got one of those Spawn books?

Wow, that was a steal! I have to admit, I've certainly been slacking when it comes to scouring eBay for deals.

FCBD was interesting. Got a late start, but decided to first go to a "yard sale" advertised on Craigslist as having comics. Got there, it turned out to be one of those antique co-op things with no comics whatsoever. It didn't even appear that someone else had beat me to the comics as no one there could recall any comics there that day. Then it was the tale of the two different local comic shops. The first shop has two locations, but closed one and directed everyone to their mall location. There was a super long line, first time I had ever encountered this at FCBD. I was in line in back of a "special needs" young man and his mother was nearby, dismayed that the line was so long and that apparently they needed to be somewhere else. I tried to help as I got out of line and went into the shop and talked to the owner to see if they could get the young man into the shop any quicker. The owner wanted to help, but he mentioned that the line inside the store at the register was just as long, and that it was overly warm in the store ( I assume because of the volume of people) and that the young man might not be comfortable inside waiting. Instead of getting back in line, I decided to give this shop a pass (because of the length of the line) and go elsewhere. I then went to another local shop in a mall and it was a totally different story. No wait at all, picked up three of the free books (2 were actually free, the third was 50 cents which is donated to a local library) and then started shopping. The 75 cent overstock books were 5 for $2 and the 25 cent books were 10 for a $1. Got some really good deals. My only problem with this shop is they were conducting some type of card playing tournament and the foul language was flying. In previous years, I had complained about this and the last couple of years the shop had secured an empty room in the mall for the card players. This year they apparently decided not to do that and there were several children within earshot of the language. I don't care about hearing the language myself, I hear worse from the kids on the back of my bus, but I hate to see younger kids exposed to that and for their parents to think that a comic shop is not a place for kids. I found it interesting to compare how the first shop had been so successful at promoting FCBD, attracting many families with young children, while the second shop, while participating in FCBD, appeared not to target the day at new collectors so much as just at their existing fan base for comics.

I did look at Good Jive #1 and #2 and I don't think I found those characters in those books, didn't check BS #1.
