  1. I think Pockets are vastly under-rated, especially for their historical import as you note. As comics, pulps and paperbacks have become increasingly cover-centric, I suppose they’ll continue to lose ground on the more lurid digests or Avons and Populars, but astute collectors should always make a little space in their collections for some Pockets.
  2. These always provide a voyeuristic thrill! Thank you for taking the time to document the various shows and selecting some obscure items from each dealer at which to take a deeper look.
  3. This. I do this waaayyyy too much - buying duplicates of things I already have. As you wrote, I should save my limited funds more exclusively for things I don’t already own.
  4. What great calls to get! This is one of my all-time favorite Bats covers.
  5. I was also thinking Scott before I saw your post.
  6. It’s still not the end-all keeper I crave, as it has some NCB upper-right corner creases and spine fading, but it’s definitely an upgrade to my previous copy. I don’t need to improve my Campus Town or Doll’s Trunk Murder - unless a truly minty one comes along - but I’d like just a bit sharper “Overboard” to complete what I’ve always had as a triumvirate in my mind. Those books just seem to go together.
  7. It’s definitely fun to pick up books in person, but the prices have crept up almost to the point of what they’re asking on the Bay (at least in some cases). The days of rummaging through boxes at $2 to $3 each seem to be well over, except for really marginal readers. The benefit of a show for me is meeting and talking to other collectors and dealers, and seeing all the original art in the room.
  8. And here are the Dells and Populars - vastly different approaches to cover art design, and it’s a rare, rare day when I could pick my favorite approach.
  9. I finally got around to re-bagging most of the paperbacks from the Windy City show. With the price of pulps these days, I focused more on paperbacks. I needed many of these, with a few that are hopefully upgrades on books I already own but have to dig out. Someday I’ll have these all on shelves…
  10. Indeed! I can’t decide which I like better. The lingerie cover is very well done, but the other cover is so dramatic.
  11. Take, if this qualifies for the 20% off despite being marked “firm.”
