  1. I wonder why the seller has a "zero" feedback.
  2. First off - Congrats to @zzutak for a great new thread.... Now, for my "entry" into this topic. As the kids today say, "To be fair...." I did not win the most recent CGC grading contest and so maybe I should not be judging this, however, I am trying to figure out in what Bizarro world someone would have to live in to give the below book an "8.5 VF+". Oh, and pay no attention to that sticker that says "475", as the actual asking price on this beauty is "$1,000".
  3. My apologies to Superman2006. I just noticed that I made this list back in May. Although I was tagged in the thread, somehow, I completely missed this. Thus I failed to thank @Superman2006 for the hard work he put into this. Please accept my apology and my thanks.
  4. Just a quick thank you to @zzutak for providing the breakdown and even including the three different averages (and an explanation as to what each average represents). As a "numbers guy", I really appreciate his taking the time to do this. One addtional stat (if I may). After round 1 Average Score: 7.39 (mean) Standard Deviation: 3.06 After round 2 Total Average Score: 16.82 (mean) Standard Deviation: 5.79
  5. To me the important thing is that we all received the same scans and same info. Mike has agreed to do better in the future regarding possibly unseen defects. I believe it is important to keep this contest “fun” and not contentious. If we start a major issue over an honest mistake I see one of two things happening. 1) Mike decides not to host these awesome events and we all lose. I would not blame him. 2) Board Members decide not to participate, as they are here for fun and entertainment and not for conflict. Let’s just keep it light and fun. Let’s not stress over a simple mistake. Let’s appreciate all the hard work Mike does to host these contest. Maybe I am wrong, however, I believe we need to look at the big picture, be grateful for the work done to provide us with a contest, and move to round 3 without further controversy.
  6. I received 4 bulls-eyes. Needless to say it was the HOS that got me. With that said, I vote to move on. We all got the same scans and Mike does the best he can to run a fair and honest contest. That is good enough for me.
  7. Wow! I am beyond words. I am thankful and humbled by this. It was certainly unexpected and I can think of several board members who likely deserve it more. There are so many good people here. When I first came there were people like Peter @Gotham Kid who helped me figure out how to do things (like post photos). Then there was another kind board member, Stephen @eccomic who helped me find a rare book I had been wanting for decades. Those were just the first of many kind acts board members have done for me (far too numerous to list) and I have seen so many other kind acts in charity threads and collectors just helping one another time and again. When I see and experience collectors on the boards going out of their way to help people they have never met, it inspires me to be a better person, and for this I am grateful. To recieve this recognition is humbling when faced with the great body of people we have here on the boards. All I can say is thank you! I also want to than @ADAMANTIUM for tagging me, or else I would not have ever seen this. Congratuations also to all the winners and especially to @Prince Namor and @valiantman
  8. Ok. I am already second guessing my submitted grades. Why do I do this to myself??
  9. After serious consideration and a lot of banging my head into the wall, I finally gave up and submitted my guesses. I appreciate Mike tagging me and the other “late graders” in the thread.
  10. Well, I waited to make sure I wasn't taking someone else's spot, however, with less than 30 minutes left, it appears there are still many spots available. Mike, please put me in (for better or worse).
  11. Always looking, my friend. Always looking... Things are good. Thank you!
  12. I see Adventure and Superman. Any chance we will be seeing any Actions?
  13. Thank you for the report. Exciting to see a show where they appear to actually be selling comics. I have given up on a lot of shows (like NY) because the number of comic dealers are far outnumbered by those selling other items. This looks like a fun show.
  14. Mike, I am certain I don't have the right words to comfort you at this time; words could never heal the pain and loss you are feeling. I wish there was something I cojld say or do to make that pain go away or at least ease it, however, time may be the only "healing" possible. Just know that many are thinking of you. many care deepy for you, and there are those too who are holding you up in their prayers; prayers for strength and healing. May you find peace in this difficult time and may memories of your mother and her love fill your soul/
  15. Two very impressive runs. I often thought about trying to collect the Four Color run, but it seemed a daunting task.
  16. Went to the post office yesterday and picked up the book I took in this thread that @comicnoir was kind enough to donate. Book was well packaged and arrived safe all the way from Canada. Just a quick shout out of thanks to @comicnoir for making this available and for sending it out so quickly.
  17. Great thread. People talking about what they love. Some great runs here. Congrats to all and thank you for sharing. My longest continous run... Action Comics #2 - #904
  18. Yes, Fantazia was a small and impressive store and Danny Dupcak had arguably the best ad in the Overstreet. Just like you, I too stared at that photo and eventually made my way down to NY to visit the shop. There Danny showed me a beautiful Action 1 that if I recall correctly was priced at $23K. It might as well have been priced at a million, as $23K was out of my reach. Although the #1 was out of my reach, I still managed to come up with enough coin to purchase another Action from 1938 while I was there and that made the trip worth while. Of course, this was all before what later would transpire regarding Danny.
