  1. You mean nearly 1200 above highest ever GPA (or close to 60% higher) recorded sale is not a good deal? Usually if MCU is in the ad I keep moving.
  2. Nice sale, I guess I need to stop valuing sleep as much as I do.
  3. FF1 is already pretty tough to find, any hype could certainly push it and the other first appearances to the roof. FF4 FF5 are already quickly climbing.
  4. Pretty much nailed it, I have seen multiple "Charlie Cox did xyz" comments in sales of certain books. Wanted to upgrade my DD16 and half the sellers were using that pitch, my thought is maybe, but I am buying it for the artist.
  5. Sounds like Georgia as well.. I travel to Dallas monthly and agree with your statement.
  6. Of course the UF finance guy would sell me out!
  7. Well it is pretty organic. Facebook has groups that people sell on. That is easier to keep up with. Instagram is basically Instagram users selling. There are tons of users that do it. But basically users list in their profile books. I search Hashtags of certain books to find them. The savvy sellers list and do live auctions as well, those are the ones were I have seen things go nuts as you can have 200 people in the live auction and going after the same books. I have seen Star Wars comics lately absolutely blow up. There are several dealers on here who use it, I think they each approach differently though.
  8. Interesting. Since you mentioned it, I am not ready to check out with open auctions but this is what I see as the end user. Item(s) Subtotal: $435.00 Buyer Premium (3%): $13.05 (discounted if paid by 02-15-2021) --------------- Subtotal: $448.05 Shipping & Handling: $20.00 Sales Tax: $0.00 ($0 if paid by 02-15-2021)
  9. What is this CGC selling thread you speak of? JK just sold two GA Tec's this week to avoid the fee's myself. I get it, but most of the Auction houses I deal with are not in my state or collect taxes, therefore as a buyer I am more apt to purchase from them. As long as all the big dealers do not move to Georgia I guess I can avoid it for a little while.
  10. That's just crazy talk! Instagram selling and live selling seems to have taken off in the past year. I get on those and see sales of books well past GPA, due to the rush of the auction or whoever is in the room. I also saw a pretty big dealer who is on here and has a flintstone type moniker (I would tag but not sure that is in good taste) sell a X-men 1 for below market in his live sale, while everyone else is selling 20-30% above last sale. And when he posted it, there were about 7 folks responding with the claim. A 6k sale with an army of people trying to buy it. I was one of them, but must have the slowest internet known to man as I was 4th. At the same time on Instagram Star Wars comics are selling for twice what ebay is selling. I have complained about this since ebay started collecting taxes, with taxes ebay is a tough buy for me now, it increases the actual purchase price 7% in my state, so I would look elsewhere.
  11. Crazy, but looking at my spreadsheet, I went after 21 books so far, all bid over GPA, only one I have won so far is a DC book, First Jonah Hex in 7.5. Tonight is not looking any better.
  12. Put a tracking bid in real quick. Good lord that is high

  14. Got it, had no idea what the actual payout structure is/was, but that is not who I am seeing make some new purchases. Instagram and Facebook groups have a ton of "Hi I used to collect these when I was a kid in the 80's. Where is the best place to find XYZ?" They are asking for bigger books like ASM 1, Xmen 1 etc. I have sold some pretty expensive Gi Joe toys and not hearing stimulus as the driving force, just nostalgia. All collectibles are crazy right now, I follow a few on instagram and FB and the speculators are driving sports cards up huge again, fighting over who gets boxes in Target etc, now some of those people are open that they are using their stimulus and trying to make money on cards since they are not working.Same thing happening with New toys.
  15. Very true about not getting a stimulus. Some of us are not getting those, I wouldn't think 600 would stimulate 8K books. I know a few people who divested in a few areas and got into hobbies some of us have been in for years. They are "beginning" with higher capital than most so their entry buys are high end in regards to past sales. Some stocks have went crazy and people pulled profits from there. I myself decided to sell off my extra toys and everything I list is snatched up immediately and at about twice what I would expect it to sell. So in a way even though we didn't get checks, we have benefited from the extra spending, I just decided to move toy money back into comics.
  16. While everyone is chasing MCU announcements, I was able to grab a GI Combat 87 for relatively cheap. I have a raw somewhere around here but it is not nearly as nice as this one.
  17. Yes and no help needed from the hype machines! Looks fantastic.
