  1. All in the cover for me. Whip that bad boy out and someone asks what is so special about Paste Pot Pete? A shame really with how cool Doctor Strange is though.
  2. Yep, this one is probably my only regret, I move my hobby money around and it rarely moves out of "hobby" funds so in the end it funded something else I enjoy. And that one was not so much I could have made more money, more just should have kept it.
  3. Sorry for breaching the topic, I thought it was down to a handful of states like 7-8 only because I remember seeing a small group of states listed by a Ferrari dealer that had it in his description when I was buying luggage this month. Did not intend to mis inform.
  4. That’s true I forgot FLA and a few others were not playing.
  5. Spoken like a scholar. Applies to all books really, Xmen gets super hot, newish collectors chase the book or the number in the top left portion of the slab. Guy lists a 2.0 as GPA plus due to a white nice right edge 2.0 sold for 6700. His quarter of the front cover missing 2.0 is now equivalent and has the insert ad "Hottest book in the market last 2.0 sold for 6700 mine is 7K" Newish or collector who hasn't seen any supply buys it, Pavlov theory in play and now 7K is the bell we hear. In everything I collect, I always go for appeal, I just shipped a 53 Mantle to the west coast that looks better than cards twice the price. Sometimes due to budget set or just flat out being happy with a good looking one I buy what looks good. Most people would pass by a couple of my bigger keys due to the number in the top left of the slab, and when I see one 2 grades higher, I still like mine. Iron Man 55 is one of the best ever examples of a book that has a terrible wrap but a 9.2, Sells for a centered 9.2. There have been several below GPA X-Men 1's since November, some were just great deals others had chipping or poor color strike.
  6. I picked up some off the radar items that are boring to most. Still looking at a few more next week. Got into a Bidding war on the 1st print, and thought I would put a back up bid on the 2nd print. Didn't expect that much of a fight for the first and so little of a fight on the 2nd but wound up getting both. Had been looking for a Bone 1st print for a little bit.
  7. Biased...Obviously since you used a F4 villain to compare Magneto..... But if F4 is behind X-Men their villains should not count either, I am kidding as I feel like this has been argued through the halls of every con there has been. I agree X-Men are due, I only mention supply based on how many shows I have been to that had multiple X1 available on day one and last day of a show versus 1 or 2 dealers with FF1. That and I guess I now hate it will cost 10K for a nice X1 that was 5K last year.
  8. You have a steady hand for sure, lots of self confidence in how you handle the blade. If it were me next time CGC graded it would say, "Top edge trimmed"
  9. Agree, FF1 is also from an era when people still were not keeping comics. Having grown up in the 80's (Born in 73) X Men were way cooler than FF but I personally put the original XMen in the same category as the Fantastic Four. To me Giant Size X Men 1 was the true first appearances of the XMen I loved so the original Xmen were like a bygone team to me. That being said as I got older I grew more like to the Fantastic Four mainly due to heritage and as I read some of the stories, found them better than Wolverine going nuts every few issues of Xmen.
  10. Not at all, I am from Georgia, we don't understand words as fast as most people. I was just stating not only is the price insane, the buyer forked over a few hundred more to actually close the deal. I wasn't a fan of the 3.0 on CL that just ended but it looks like a bargain at $6800 compared to this.
  11. Poor ole BB28.. one of the few books you can still buy at 2013 prices
  12. I fully understand how it works, was just pointing out the cash outlay is even higher.
  13. Current trajectory, no I do not think it sustains, I also not think it drops to pre 2017 or so prices either. Some of these are the new norm. A lot of this current MCU hype was talked about in 2019 and we did not see the spikes like we are seeing now. I have seen just too many Xmen 1's at shows to believe that if they start coming out in volume they hold up, but I certainly can be wrong. I posted about trying to Buy that Xmen 1 from HA via buy from owner, he had a buy it now for 8k, I took it, he changed it to 9242 as soon as I submitted the purchase. What I notice now is my 8k offer (which was above market then) is still his highest offer. At some point it will be 9k I assume. Of the bigger keys that is one I do not own, nor never have, always ignored it myself since I grew up with the GSXM 1 as being the key book for us, now that I had planned on grabbing one it is on fire. My focus will be on filling Fantastic Four books I don't have since they are not the flavor of the month.
  14. Plus sales Tax... So closer to $6500 ish
  15. That's Blasphemy! JK That is an amazing cover and presents very well, love the reds!
  16. Interesting topic. If I could get a Tec 27 it would be that book in some or fashion or Cap 1. Or corner the market and buy up all the 9.8's of a single comic like Fantasy Quarterly 1 and create a site like WSB for comics and create the demand for it, then I will be rich suckas
  17. Following thread to see if any of my recent wins makes the list. It is crazy right now. I just mentioned in the copper thread how high a 9.8 Usagi Yojimbo #1 is on CL. Double highest ever with 5 days to go.
  18. Ha 60% of the time it works every time. Sometimes if I could outbid myself just for the thrill of overpaying AND winning.
  19. Not Albedo but is anyone noticing the Usagi #1 9.8 on CL right now? Mind blown with days left.Indy's are scorching hot.
  20. Nice, overpaying is the new "got a smoking deal". Sadly I performed the same this auction.
