  1. How about no check and no tax break? That was how our year was.
  2. Nice pick up on that 14. I was about to pull the trigger.
  3. In this market it is tough to pick one that is a must have under current conditions, While X-Men 1 is on fire you are certainly buying at the highest ever on record. Even others look more attractive than X1 right now just due to how much that book has exploded. Like most I am glad to have grabbed them in the past, AF15 has been an expensive book but the new age collectors seem to be looking past it right now, no idea what it or FF1 would do if they got behind those two. I did see a guy get 10K (or close as that was his offered price and responded it was sold) on FB for a 1.8 FF1 so maybe they are in tune as that seemed very strong. GSX1 is also starting to go nuts, so BA is on fire as well.
  4. I noticed a few mentioned there usually is not much selection of GA. I watched two live auctions this weekend hosted by Elite comics that were very intense, One was with @Superworld who we have all bought from on here in the past. Ted's auction had over 200 people in it and if you did not have lightning internet you were coming in second a lot, I was one of those and wound up just being an observer. It was to the point where as soon as Ted showed the book and gave the grade and price it was sold. And he had some very nice GA, like All-New Comics #1, GA DC etc. And to everyone's point, bronze and silver fly in those auctions, as well as modern although I am not in touch with market prices in that genre. Frank's comics was on yesterday and sold two Silver Surfer 1's for way above any recorded GPA sale along with a ton of others, also had @ 200 viewers on.
  5. Yeah it is a new world, a boardie just posted another copy of DD1 on IG, making three straight days of him posting a copy available.
  6. And also not GA but to add perspective a boardie has listed a different DD1 each of the last 3 days on IG. Last one listed here on the 10th and had to have a mod get involved due to price "discussions"
  7. Be careful which sellers you stumble in on, I was scrolling one day and saw the set up and wound up watching about 15 minutes of household goods being sold before I realized this may not be the auction for me. It must have been the stuffed UGA in the back that stopped me.
  8. Very true, I have wanted to upgrade mine but the 4.0-6.0 rarely come up. CL has a decent selection to chose from this month.
  9. It is almost like they are trying to do early bullying bids to clear a room, except that works better in live in person auctions, not remote ones. I am sorta glad CL does not use extended bidding right now, no clue how high some stuff would go in this auction. Pretty sure I will be buying some off the radar books if anything this round.
  10. I am no expert by far but due to the fee's taxes etc I started looking at other venues for buying books over 3-5K since we don't have shows. Each user is different but there are some sellers (several on here) who sell on IG. They have decent followers and list and sell pretty quick. Most users, new or old, use hashtags so you can search by certain ones like #dd1 or #dd1forsale or #comicsforsale, from there you will see all the postings. I have sold Gi Joe toys and graded sports cards as there are huge followings for both. I don't have a ton of followers but the items sell pretty much immediately at market price. I myself do paypal G/S or cash options, most pay with G/S though, you can ask the fee's be covered there without risk of being shut down like in other places. There are some dealers with huge followings and those who do a great job with live auctions, elitecomics is one that has a pretty good system where they partner with other dealers and do split screen live auctions. Those tend to offer all sorts of items, but I have seen several DD1's sell in live auctions for around Market, sometimes below and sometimes slightly higher. When they are listed well above market they do not move and people usually offer around market. IG reaches far more people and I think one of the things happening is it is easy to justify the hobby there. I see people getting into the hobby and pulling up posts tagging their wives basically sharing what items sell for. My wife is only worried about how much she can sell stuff for when I die, not what I am spending, thats a joke. I will let others share their thoughts but I did get into a little debate on FB with another user who was adamant ebay was the rule of the world in regards to market and just could not believe sales happen in other venues, although he was arguing on a FB site that has sales daily so go figure.
  11. There are 5 copies on CL right now, 8.5 down to 2.0 SS. Ebay is falling way back in market share in my opinion. Instagram moves more copies daily now.
  12. It is a great book, I think most of the first 12 FF are bargain priced compared to other runs. The 4.0 on CL is already at $700.
  13. They are not the only game in town, but they have so many different dealers partner with them you tend to see all types of books. As mentioned they will tag the upcoming dealers and you can connect with them if you wanted in advance. If it is all new stuff I will watch for a minute and leave. There are some big dealers on there for GA, Danielle did a live sale a few weeks back and had plenty to offer. Some of the sellers will even take requests if the items are not moving. I now own some Rick And Morty comics I never knew I needed from getting wrapped up in a claim fest.
  14. There is a way to see @G.A.tor 's IG posts or anyone for that matter as soon as they post. You can set up an alert for every time he posts, then when you open the alert it will go straight to the user. Neat trick that most younger than us know, I use it from time to time, has worked out well on a few sellers. Some sellers don't post very frequent so they may be best to set up that alert on.
  15. I think we will get a good idea in the next 30 days, seems several copies of some books that blew up are on or coming to the open market, that may slow the panic buying some.
  16. Happens to a lot of people famous or not. I remember reading a book on Dimaggio and how he was handled near the end, much the same.
  17. Was Browsing the CC December Auctions when they were running and ran across this OA that I thought was pretty cool. I keep telling myself to stay away from OA but grabbed it anyway.
  18. That is probably the worst I have seen. I got this in a bag this week from a seller on ebay, the bag was not damaged (that is a joke) but the book went from NM to G. The hair and dirt in the tape were a bonus. It is on it's on the way back to the seller.
  19. Agree 100%, looks like decent supply of some books that have been getting out of hand, maybe this puts some in check, but a few will go for ATH as well.
  20. GPA only shows the 13.2K sale. Next 9.8 prior to it is December 2019 They show the 12k Sale in November as Item recorded as sold / relisted by seller Year Number High Low 2020 1 $13200 $13200 Nov-19 $13200 1001226002
