  1. Nailed it, the Heritage copy I mentioned a while back being overpriced, scooped up at around the same time all these sold.
  2. Just got an email from Vince (Metropolis)that he is involved now in trying to help sell the collection.
  3. Here is a thought, and don't shoot me I just notice changes in some other hobbies in regards to how people collect. What if the next generation of comic collectors collected different from us or most of the comic collectors? I am 47 and agree with everything you guys are saying, it and Silver Surfer 1 are not books I would hastily buy just to have. I remember having a few copies of Iron Man 1 well before the movies came out and sold a couple NM copies when the first movie came out and the book sold pretty much immediately. I remember chatting with one of the guys who bought one and he had no idea of TOS 39, and even as I shared, I could tell he could care less. It was Iron Man 1 to him, that is what he wanted first issues, not first appearance, first cameo, first issue. I see people our age getting back in and aggressively searching out Spawn, Gi Joe, TNMT, Valiant comics etc because those were the emotional connecting books to their childhood and the hobby. In sports cards the collectors are pretty much picking what is the hot RC, not based on when it releases sometimes, but by a number of factors, if they move to here I could see the same mentality applied. I also see people just badgering people to death on Facebook for not falling in line with how someone else collects and think how silly the approach is and everyone focuses differently. It has also been mentioned people being priced out of the real first appearances so the demand can and will move to something else, Can't afford FF48, it is easy to jump to SS1 and ignore 2nd and 3rd appearances or covers. And some people just want a "piece" of a lot of little things sometimes. A display to my wife looks the same if it is loaded with Bronze age books or Golden Age books. In my opinion it would be good to see these 68 #1's shoot up and draw in more interest surrounding the rest of the titles.
  4. Amazing display, nice layouts, I am getting ready to re arrange my room and want to display some of the bigger books now, are your tall cabinets using Archival glass? I can't block light in my room so always worry about color fading.
  5. Certainly not me, I was underbidder on probably 4-5 when they were selling for $1400 a few years ago, since they never really moved from that point I would always bail at $1400, those cards never moved that fast then all of the sudden insane trajectory. In 2019 it started to bump above 2K then a year later it was 6k, six months later 20k, I think we all know if a comic does that the sell off is coming.
  6. Awesome, You were persistent early so I backed off. Figured there would be a barrage late. I survived the bidding war for the one on Comiclink last month so was not as aggressive.
  7. Anyone see or win the Bone 1 Raw Copy that just ended on Ebay? Looked nice. I chased it for a minute. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BONE-1-Cartoon-Books-Jeff-Smith-1st-print-RED-logo-1991/233879831512?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  8. There is a user on here with the exact handle as the ebay handle.
  9. Everyone stating the sports card market is insane is correct(so is Pokemon). I personally only collect Mantle for Baseball but have or had Rookies of the the big boys of all sports. I have owned a Greztky OPC rookie forever that I paid $40 bucks for way back due to it having a crease, that card is at PSA right now to be slabbed and sold as even junk versions of that card are selling for 2k. On Jordan. I have a few items and agree I would rather have a game used shoes since his shoes were a large part of most of our lives when we grew up in the 80's. I wanted to get a 8.5 of his rookie card for a while and have had an auto alert on it for years, was second bidder on several for about a grand. A friend asked about buying one and I showed him this. The screenshot is a search with "at the time" a crazy ask for a 8.5 with a buy it now of 7500 and on the right is the buy it now is currently for the same grade card. This is a 3 month spread mind you, not a year ago or two years ago, October to Late January. I do think the modern card chasers are in for a huge let down, much like those of us who chased Gregg Jefferies RC's in the 80's.
  10. I am sure the sellers move to another venue, although usually here if the price is fair it will move in minutes. I sold a couple of GA Tec's this month and they sold in 20 minutes. I do not find the buyers here as caught up in the hype books like on FB or other groups (although there are times where it happens). I jump on a few live auctions just to see if any off the radar items come up and sellers seem to get mad if you aren't bidding up the flavor of the month or when they ask what you would like to see and you mention non key or hot books, not worth their time and will almost state that directly. I think it has been discussed ad nauseum that sellers see the grade sell for a certain price, then take that price and bump it to what they deem is the new market price. Meanwhile the comp book was a white pager with no chipping, or nicely presented and they are putting a C/ow book with poor registration at that high price.
  11. Think that one is a Diamond Insert, at least the last few IM55 with an insert I have seen were Diamond
  12. Slowly trying to put a Jonah Hex insert only run together. Seems I can find DC books with inserts easier than Marvel, not that it means anything, but at shows I can usually find a few DC's.
  13. Two things I look for at shows after keys or must haves are MJ inserts and Dec 1973 books. Always makes for a more interesting hunt at shows while everyone else is chasing the flavor of the month. The Dec 73 books get to rotate on one of the spinners.
  14. My guess is the actual book that should be in that slab was a 9.8. After that all bets are off.
  15. Was transferring some money today and noticed my received and spent amounts did not exactly match what I recalled getting or spending...... this may lead to some tough conversations with the wife..
  16. Agree I actually was just commenting on your FB post since I was checking that GI joe 21 out, I thought it looked amazing for a 9.0. Nice snag. Phillip
  17. I was wondering about this myself. It is a great cover, but if he doesn't show in Wandavision does it tank or at least return to more reasonable amounts? I had an Avengers 57 well before the hype train started, when it did I sold it since it was not a book I really loved so did let it go. I noticed after he was in the movies it absolutely fell in value.
  18. So very true. It has always been one of those if I see a nice raw one I will grab it. I know where a 4.0 that could be had for $2200 for a while. It does seem like the market is catching up to that price point at least for that grade.
  19. Great book, I doubt seriously you have bought at the top. I myself am looking for that exact grade and realize in a month my offer to buy amounts are already outdated.
  20. Nice! Agree absolutely love the cover and the Haunted tank. Don't have a solo shot but here it is with a couple other war covers.
  21. Exactly, you do not need those types of people in our life! Usually when they ask it leads straight to fisticuffs or some other form of physical altercation.
