Have they changed the rules in the Sales Forum?

I've sold other books here. I gave full disclosure that they were graded by another company and did not post pics of the label.

    (shrug)

No, its always been cgc certified or raw. It's the first rule of the sales forum.

Do you mean it was a cracked out that is to say former Voldy disclosed as such for informational purposes? Or still slabbed up like the OP's?

  3. Nice one Ron!  Hoping for the 8.0, but not shocked I would imagine. I do wonder how you valued it though. hm  I'd be way nervous till I got it back!

I'm also wondering if this means you're going to market in 2024? This grade hasn't moved publicly, it would be quite the thing.

  4. I would take a different view.   To a person who had trouble with the causal relationship of actions and consequences, a reminder of where that dark path leads is a good moral guardrail.  For himself, and as an example to others.

But our system does allow for "redemption", it isn't absolute.  A vote can be taken to reverse the decision.  But if he's interested in selling, which is what it pertains to, then Chip should ask for it himself and convince us of the rightness of that.

If it's cracked out, doesn't that invalidate the claim, that it's the single highest graded? Because would there not be an argument that others may have a raw copy equally as good if not better?

I'm confused by the claim. I'm all for cracking out books...but can you still claim the grading? I'd like to know if this a thing, where you can crack out and still claim the CGC grade?

    (shrug)

If the provenance is maintained and the owner can be trusted, then sure the seller can claim the grade if the label travels with the book.  It attests to a grade delivered by CGC, not the seller, and a lack of restoration and conservation.  Again trust is all - trust that nothing whatsoever has happened to affect the grade.  As a matter of fact, a cracked book can oftentimes get a premium IF the buyer intends to hold the book in the personal collection.  You've got the 3rd party assurance particularly around resto plus an ability to fully enjoy the book.  Hey, it takes a certain amount of skill to crack a book, many are not comfortable drawing a blade down the inner well 1/8" from the sides. Richard does videos on how to do it correctly.   (thumbsu
