  2. Time again for overdue praising to those who have made my collection even more unwieldy... mrwoogieman for a nice selection of Charltons... 143ksk for some great Brave and the Bold all-girl action... nochips for some MH2s and a nice Rosa Flash 100pager... greggy for some VCC sweetness... arexcooke for sweet CGC GS Avengers #2 - I agree it looks undergraded... (thumbs u jonjesper for a very nice Marvel horror CGC slab as well as appreciated free goodies... Jim
  3. It doesn't...and there's certainly no fear involved. Just controling somewhat what people know and don't know. Knowledge is indeed power and the more you can limit it while at the same time enjoying life, the better... You aren't interacting on a daily basis with those examples like you do on the Internet. Most other media and situations you have more control. On an Internet chat board, some people may get the warped sense they can relate to me, you, whoever and take action on the desire. And if someone wants to screw with me on the beach...well I'm pretty big strong guy and they'll surely regret the experience... Jim
  4. I think you're adding more into the comment than is there. But to answer your question, what's the difference between those two's desires and some freek having a desire to contact someone's kid they've seen posted here (and this has nothing to do with you Ze-Man...just an example...)? Jim One is two consenting adults freely exchanging contact information and the other is a pedophile. Well no kidding Doc...but the same thing applies... There's an inherent safety found behind the Internet and Boards such as this. That makes people much too trusting in my opinion. When you actually meet someone, you can gauge them by their appearance, ticks, expressions, etc. That is missing from Boards such as this when words are the only gauge to determine whether someone is really who they seem to be behind the alias. It's impossible to know for sure and that why people should be more judacious in providing personal information... Jim

  6. That is nothing but a wild assumption. It could have happened anywhere, a yoga class for example. Unfortunately for all involved, it occurred here. Sure...and if you read the rest of the paragraph I say so. Regardless, it happened here... Jim
  7. Count me into the guarded camp in regards to posting pics or sharing personal information here. There are too many kooks in the world, and in this hobby to be frank, that I don't need the hassle should one become predatory. It has nothing to do with living in fear. It's the prudent thing to do. Take the DeeDee/D&S example. Wouldn't have happened in the way it did if this Board wasn't around. Now of course, they may have separately handled their problems another way regardless but if not for this Board, the situation would not have developed as it did... In my job, I'm priviledged to see what can and cannot be obtained by a concerted computer search and what can be done with that information. I personally don't feel comfortable laying in all out there in regards to family and personal issues. Remember, at the end of the day we are all just screen names behind computers...and may not be the great people we seem across that divide... Jim
  8. The purpose of this thread is to alert sellers and buyers to Board transactions, that for one reason or another have gone south, and have not been resolved by and between the participants to the transaction. To impart any greater meaning or duty to this thread is somewhat of a disservice to all. Old man was on the probation thread earlier this year. He reached a resolution with all of the complaining parties at the time he was put on the list. It has been reported that he has since involved himself in other transactions, and not completed them. As the rules go, he will remain on the list until notice of resolution is received from each of those complaining parties. It's interesting that Board members have their own opinions on how to use the information herein, but as there is no enforcement power beyond publication, there is no way to take comprehensive action. He's still hanging around the Forum. He entered my grading contest tonight. So he's apparently purposely avoiding paying his debt to October... Jim
  9. No it seems as if you're the one confused... The mags were sent loose. That is never a proper way to send mags/comics. No amount of paper or styroform will stop them from sliding in the box. This is basic comics packing 101... This is all irrelevent and an attempt by you to deflect blame. Bottomline...the box arrived damaged and the contents inside weren't packaged to withstand even the most subtle of handling. The blames on you not the receiver... You're kidding right? Wait...you're serious? That's a completely warped rational... Obviously you are or you'd have done more to secure the items in the box. And this doesn't even begin to address the Eerie overgrading. That is a topic all it's own. So a person now has to question both your grading and your packing. You need to rectify this because from all indications it's making only one person look bad and that's you... Jim
  10. While wasting time on the porcelain throne, I've been reading Alter Ego #56 (Feb 2006). In it, Neal Adams gives an interview praising colorist Jack Adler and also offering great information on his and Jack's rational behind creating DC horror covers. Neal explains his thoughts behind using kids on the cover as well as designing the colors in such a way as to create movement. Good stuff and well worth the read. There's a reason Neal's DC horror covers are miles above similar Marvel horror and even other DC artists...he and Jack put alot of care and effort into setting the scene and mood of those covers... (thumbs u Jim
  11. So, I'm leadership material? “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” - John Quincy Adams Jim
  12. You're not a totally impartial observer here... Let's put this issue in perspective shall we: - A 100 pager...but not the 1st 100 pager. - Adams Batman cover...but not the 1st Adams Bats cover or even a SH compilation cover (DC-6). - It's a reprint comic...nothing original but the cover and a couple illustrations. - HG copies are numerous but very few have graded as high as 9.4. That in itself doesn't necessitate 2K. I'm happy for Joker...but I can't help but to think there are few people (count on one hand?) that would be willing to pay over 1K for the issue. And don't try to use the auction as proof otherwise. Some of those were thrill bids with no expectation by the bidders they were going to win... This auction proved one thing and one thing only...someone has bragging rights to the highest graded copy of a moderately desirable issue in a competitive collecting genre that has one winner and numerous followers... Jim
  13. Of course...you always get rid of the undercopies first... Jim
  14. I particularly like this part . . . where does this guy get off? Warned him against what? That they are fast payers, respectable Board members, and expect good quality service and accurately graded, well-packaged product? Anyone consider maybe Mr.A was lying? Jim
  15. Isn't this the same guy who started out with the sob story about having to liquidate his collection? He hasn't looked back since... Jim
  16. Others should be warned about your choice of avatar... Jim
  17. You want hassle. I'll give you hassle the next time. :hail: Canadian porn industry? All I can picture is a flurry of fuddwear and stocking caps...., My private list is large and you're on it, fool Have you guys ever considered changing the name of this to the "COMICAL board"? I don't know whether to laugh or cry... Cry. Cry alot... Jim
  18. That's OK...we'll just wait it out until you start slashing prices... Jim
  19. The more you talk, the more it makes you look like you weren't as forthcoming in your apology as it was made out... Jim
