I can't tell that they have it under control, and I assume my FF figures will have serious moose-knuckle and camel-toe.  The recently-released Iron Fist has a really bad case of moose knuckle.

And one thing I REALLY hate about Mezco is how they digitally edit their promo shots.  You couldn't see Iron Fist's weird bulge in any of the promo shots because they either edited or posed it out, but once he was release you can see it in almost every Youtube review.

Well, the saggy crotch has generally improved, at least from what I've seen. But I'll defer to your experiences.

And yes, sorry to say, but every shot I've seen of Iron Fist looks horrific because of that odd mooseknuckle crotch. I don't know how they let that go into production. Definitely a time where they should have gone for aesthetics over articulation.

  2. Those 2 new X-Men being, of course, Banshee and Sunfire (new to the team at the time of publication, don't story retcon me, please!). Now, logically, I have a few guesses:(a) cover too crammed already to fit them in and make it seem comfortable to readers, (b) these characters had already been introduced to X-Men readers previously so it was felt redundant to include them again. But does anyone know the actual answer?

  3. I hadn't thought about that, but you're absolutely right. Dr Fate looks amazing, and indeed he does have much heavier cloth overlays covering the bodysuit acting as gloves and boots, so everything is hidden and looks extremely clean.

The one thing I noticed on early Mezco's was the saggy crotch, but thankfully they've got that under control now, to the point where it's reasonable for the scale and not immediately distracting to the eye.

Mezco Magneto and the Black Bolt/Lockjaw 2-pack are also great.  I don't generally like Mezco's cloth goods, but when they mix it up with cloth and pleather like they did for Magneto and Black Bolt it looks and feels awesome because you don't see any of the thread that ends up looking like rope in the twelfth scale because they position the thread under the pleather.

I have Black Bolt and Lockjaw now pictured below (Lockjaw's eyes and signet on his forehead light up), and Magneto is sitting in my Big Bad Toy Store "pile of loot" waiting to be shipped, probably will get it within the next few weeks.

    That's an amazing Lockjaw sculpt.

I don't buy the malarkey. Almost every relationship ends with, "you were emotionally abusive!" Sorry that I didn't want to own a dog with you, Sally...

He was targeting young female fans, doing emotionally abusive things to them, manipulating them for his sexual pleasure, and then, when he'd gotten that, just throw them away.

Very different scenario to a relationship on equal terms that just doesn't work out for whatever reason.

He mentioned purchasing, aka what money does, but lets not try to get tripped up on semantics.

You are totally raging. Or is this you being cordial and objective when discussing a 'stupid company' in a thread that is 'just more BS'? That's a lot of energy expended for someone who 'don't pay much attention to this junk'.

If @Lazyboy was raging any harder I'd need to give him a Valium to pep him up.

    And out I go again!

What are the "far more damning statements"?

And at this point why do you even care? Sounds like you pulled out your money and future interest in this company so just let the remaining interested readers continue on with the 'drama production' that bothers you so much. Obsessive stan indeed...

You know, at this point I only continued because I thought @GeeksAreMyPeeps and I were doing a bit. Otherwise you're right, I have said my piece. So I'll bow out, and leave y'all to it.

Best wishes to everyone, and that there's a positive ending for all involved.

  8. Oh Earth 2. You started out with such potential. Then someone said stuff the JSA, let's just go back on everything and make it another Trinity book. You wound me, DC.

Still waiting for a JSA book. That Stargirl tease felt hollow after all the non-starts to date.

    Sigh.

    Yes.

I agree that your "average joe" might interpret it as if they are closing down, but that's not what they stated. I think that they were probably careful in choosing their language when they wrote "Bad Idea as we know it must end," since it conveys that possibility, but could also be interpreted as what I think is going to happen, which is that there will a metamorphosis into something else. I doubt we'll see them cease producing comics. I could be wrong. I don't have any inside knowledge. But from what I can tell, they've been successful with what they've produced so far, and I know the people involved love comics.

Alright, let's do this. *Puts on his niggling jorts.*

I agree with you if we only take that one specific line, but it's only a part of the whole, and they have made other far more damming statements that make it sound much more convincing to Joe Q Consumer that the company's done, aka 'Bad Idea is over,' and making statements about how interested buyers may purchase their 'final five' products. There's just no getting around the 'final five' thing.

But again, it's the totality that matters, and when you look at the whole or just certain parts, the intent matters, but shows the same thing: we're done guys, but if you are an obsessive stan, we're *wink* over *wink wink*.

  10. I'm the other way around. I've got the statue and still need the book. Why haven't I got the book? Simple. Because the statue looks nothing like the comic source. lol

My LCS at the time had a guy who'd ordered and flaked on a statue based off the classic Fantastic Four cover 'This Man, This Monster'. He knew I'm a huge FF fan, and was willing to give it to me under cost just to get rid of it. A Kirby FF statue, who could say no to that? Well, it doesn't look like the cover, at all, but it's got a certain charm to it (and did I mention it was cheap?). So out I walked away with this brick of a Thing.

Here's someone else's blog with photos of the cover and the statue. Please note their photos don't get across the sheer size and weight of this beast, do not be fooled, he's pretty darn massive: http://teddyandtheyeti.blogspot.com/2016/01/art-asylum-marvel-milestones-thing.html?m=1

I agree with your criticism of the piece. To me, it’s just sort of blah and I’d probably pass.

*Sigh* Yeah, I think that's where I'm at on it. It's not worth the money to buy and find someone to repaint it. I think Bowen did a statue of this costume, wonder what that's going for?

I was a Gen13 fan. Even have a Frisbee with the logo on it. No idea where it came from.

Nice to learn a little history as well, I didn't know generation X was the 13th generation

I've still got the movie on VHS packed away. I wish that'd get a re-release. From what I remember it wasn't that bad, though to be fair about all I remember is the shower scene. (:

Oh yeah, I hear you. I LOVE Star Wars, but I do not collect Star Wars at all. Vintage, new, none of it. There's just too much, it would drive me insane. So I an strictly a window shopped on SW. Love it, but can't buy it.

With Marvel Legends I had finally scaled back to JUST X-Men, but I was in a situation where i was wanting to raise money to fund a long desired purchase, plus they took up a lot of space, AND they were selling really well compared to what I'd paid for them. SO, they had to go. Check back in a year or two, I will have probably gone back on my word and started buying them again, for I am a weak, weak man.

Oh I know the feeling. The amount of times I've said to myself 'this is it. After this wave, you're done. You don't need anyone else.' Then they go and announce a Strong Guy BAF, and I'm right back on the saddle.

It's tough to make those calls. I am mostly dedicated to vintage stuff, but I seem to dabble with other lines, only to get hooked, buy a bunch of them, then sell them off when i want to buy a vintage piece. I've done this, like, 4 or 5 times now with Marvel Legends, for instance. I think they're great, but they're always the first thing I sell off when i want to streamline the collection. I also recently dumped nearly all of my DC Direct stuff, in order to fund the purchase I'm picking up this weekend. It is what it is!

Right now I'm hanging in with vintage G.I.Joe, G1 Transformers, some occasional NECA stuff, Alien related stuff, and some modern Transformers, primarily 86 movie related figures and the crew of the Lost Light. That seems...doable. But you never know when I'll get a wild hare and decide to sell a bunch of stuf to buy something else. It's the circle of life!

Yeah, I've cut my Marvel Legends down to X-Men and Fantastic Four related characters only, Star Wars Black to OT only (some Mandalorian too), everything from McFarlane's Mortal Kombat (fantastic line), gotten picky with my Transformers Kingdom stuff (mainly G1 characters I feel I need updates of), then the stuff I mentioned before, the MP's and the Storm MKs.

It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't, it's really quite manageable, so I'm thankful for that. I gave up on Vintage Star Wars a long time ago now. Too much repro flooding the market, too many scammers. Maybe one day I'll jump back in, but not in the near future.
