  1. I think even people who rely on 'safe spaces' or are called 'snowflakes', would hate these characters.
  2. The seller of the auction counting his take, after expenses
  3. I just don't care for the 'Spiderman 2.0' aspect. Peter Parker is not irrelevant, never has been. The fact that they felt a need to freshen up the man behind the mask, is more pandering to a new audience imho. Miles should have been created as something, just no need for his Spidey Jr. backstory. But I guess if Safespace and Snowflake are the best Marvel can do, then I guess Spidey Jr. it is.
  4. People sitting on piles of cash, and who are secure financially, will always continue to try and buy low-sell high. That is their right. I have no issue with a business trying to run, mentioning social distancing, and cleaning up around the operation. But I do find it a bit slimy, at the part where they say 'Need Cash'? Most of us will be walking a tightrope for a few weeks, and in a wait and see mode. No need to stoke any anxiety or trepidation.
  5. Also, take the news in small doses, social media like Facebook, small doses. You sit around all day and watch/read that stuff, you will get fatigue.
  6. Sooooo, you are telling me, I need to hole up in my home, sit around and read comics all day. Remind me again what the problem is?
  7. Garbage pail was after my time. I was a Wacky Packages kind of kid.
  8. I get there is a nostalgia to them (much like comic books), but what percentage of the population are after these?!
  9. I underestimate my shipping all of the time, and suck it up and cover the cost. So should he.
  10. Given our pretty lax gun laws, this has been going on for years now. It's just more assuaging psychological fears at this point. Example: I have enough anti bac, and Lysol wipes to last for years. I am not going to get it. I have enough toilet paper to last my household 1 year. I am not going to get it. I have a gun, and now can keep people away from my anti bac and toilet paper...so I still will not get it. ummm....ok
  11. Not from a comic book, but comic movie: Captain America "I can do this all day".
  12. For fun go to ebay and look up 'Griffey Jr RC'. Your head will explode. All the different brands of RC's, (Topps, Fleer, Donruss, Score, Upper Deck, Bowman, to name a few), all of the different companies that graded his rookie cards (PSA, Beckett, GEM Elite, SGC, GMA etc.), there is no rhyme or reason to the prices. GEM MT 10 UPPER DECKS go for less than a GEM MINT 10 FLEER, but some go for more (I am guessing it may have to do with the grading company, much like comics?! ). Meh...glad I ditched sports cards decades ago.
  13. I remember Griffey Jr. He had Topps, Fleer, Donrus and Upper Deck. the Upper Deck was the one that people wanted. Fact is, much like comics, older-nice condition-popular player/character = the better. The above mentioned Griffey cards, much like Spawn #1, are everywhere. The ones running around, buying refractor, blue prism, tobacco juice DNA cards, are the same ones chasing 1:100 variant comics, thumping their chests, praying there is another buyer down the road.
  14. My Dad passed away last November. It started as dementia, but ratcheted up to full blown ALZ. You have my empathy.
  15. Older stuff always does better. Holds true for both comics and cards. Lot less of them, and in good condition. Plus it was great back in the 1950's and 1960's when there were at most only 2 sports card manufacturers (TOPPS and Bowman). The industry really did itself in, when they branched out to 5 sets in the 1990's, then multiple sets by multiple manufacturers, then chase cards, refractrors, cut signatures, cut jersey cards, QVC, Home Shopping Network etc etc. There used to be a 9 sports card shops within 5 miles of each other here. Now....1 There were monthly sports card shows, usually with HOF signers, or current players (I live in a Spring Training hub), now.....maybe 1 per yer.
  16. So we know what we don't know, but what we know, we know with certainty we don't know.
  17. Are we sure about this. Since it is a novel virus, have we even seen it year round yet? We have only seen it spread among people since December 2019.
  18. I remember the Summer of 2001. It was THE YEAR OF THE SHARK!!! Shark attacks everywhere, people were to be devoured as soon as they entered the Ocean (at least that is how the media portrayed it). The fact was/is you had like a 1 in 260 million chance of being killed by a shark when you go in the Ocean, and get this....a zero percent chance if you stay out of the Ocean (unless you trip over a carcass on land and smash your head). Then- 9/11 happened. Killer Shark attacks disappeared completely from the news. Point is- Fear mongering, mis-information, and fear of the unknown move the needle. The Media does a great job of all 3. Wash your hands, cover your mouth if you cough or sneeze, carry some anit bac. While the virus is still a big unknown, it has yet to approach percentages wise, what the common flu does to us yearly. It may be better, it may be worse, but there is no need to run around like crazy people, just be vigilant.
  19. Ditto. Last Con I went to, had over $1K, didn't even spend a full $100 bill. Nothing in my wheel house grabbed my attention.
  20. Oh it's good stuff. ACT 2 can actually kind of be done solo, if you wanted to try. You would just randomize playing the 'Shark Ability' cards as you went, blindly draw a token, and see where he pops up, but it works.
  21. Were people buying at those prices? There may lie some of the answer. I felt the same way a few years back. A Bronze Age Inhumans #1 for $120 (probably a VF+), Black Panther #2 and #3, $95 each. But I didn't see anybody pulling out their wallets.
