  1. Any love for Shogun Warriors #1? Not because I have one, but I seem to stumble on them in nice condition for relatively cheap.
  2. I've got Black Goliath locked down 1-5 (HA!) Almost done with bronze age Nova and Invaders. The rest I just plod along. Probably will never finish any significant Marvel title, but it's better than wasting cash on smokes or booze (most of the time).
  3. Interestingly, the ROM action figure was developed and produced, before it hit comic form. So makes you wonder, why Marvel pushed him so much, given that the toy underwhelmed in terms of sales. Maybe they thought to re-invigorate the toy side.
  4. This! I remember the 1980's Punisher was very popular amongst the kids in our neighborhood. I never really gravitated toward the character, but he was certainly one of the more prominent figures in the years you mention. They threw him in guest appearances in New Warriors, Darkhawk, Daredevil, wherever they thought a book needed a sales boost, they put him in. Why he tapered off, is anybody's guess, but ASM #129 is a pretty important Bronze Age book due to his place in the MCU past/present/future.
  5. Not what I implied at all. Can't read the story of a comic encased in plastic. Can we at least agree on that?! Or is that false too? And no trades, and digital are not part of this conversation.
  6. Run Collectors = Readers/Junior Comic 'Historians', also not afraid to crack and read Key Collectors = Only like the $$ signs, only crack if they press-clean and resubmit
  7. I don't know much about currency collecting, but that is an awesome $10 bill. I would love to see America go back to this style, using more animals greatly associated with the Country than humans. (Bison, Eagle, Black Bear, American Alligator etc.)
  8. Covers Modern Variants, with your aforementioned book, getting a bulk of the attention. You'll laugh, you will cry, you will shake your fist at the sky, demanding Stan Lee (or possibly Axel Alonso) for answers. I take no responsibility for what happens to you, after you wade into this maelstrom. I will PM you a waiver, to agree as such.
  9. Not sure if you had a chance to read/check out Captain America (Volume 5) Winter Soldier stuff, by Ed. Brubaker. I found it to be a very entertaining, read more like a spy story than superhero story. I am liking the current Daredevil stuff right now. Immortal Hulk has been bizarre, but in a horror way. Not my thing, but I am sticking with it, to see how it ends up.
  10. @New2This there is a whole thread on this, in the Modern Section. Make some popcorn, pour a stiff drink, draw the shades. It's a better read than War and Peace.
  11. Not really, most of what I try for are defunct restaurants that used them back in the day. Occasionally, I see a newer one, made by an artist that I like and pick up.
  12. When I was in the buying process, I already figured in my head that it was probably more a 4.0 to 4.5, so jokes on PGX! HA! The DD is actually pretty nice mid grade.
  13. Sure thing. Still got another dozen or so, not pictured.
  14. I decided to splash out early this year, start off 2020 right. Will probably be cracking the PGX shortly.
  15. Tiki Mugs (much like comics, I prefer older ones, but got some newer ones as well).
  16. The Variant Age The Renumbering Age The Social Justice Warrior Age The Rob Liefeld Still Sucks Age the possibilities are really endless.
  17. You are probably right. I live close to ground zero, and they were at a small show in Tampa at the time. Probably was about 2000. I submitted like 4 books. I tried them out. 2 came back with grades, and 2 came back with no encasing, no grades, no explanation. I wound up sending them an email, inquiring why 2 out of 4 books were graded. They told me to send the other two back, and they graded them. Sounds like saner times have prevailed.
  18. Amen. That is why I still haven't submitted anything to CGC since the 1990's. I realized I have eyes. I use them just like any other CGC grader.
  19. I was still picking up Batman #457 for $1 each last year. There are some decent books, but in general, not a lot to get overly excited about.
  20. If it's a new comic, then there are other bathroom uses that come to mind.
  21. The older I get, the more I appreciate Byrnes Man of Steel, and Superman run. It's a nice jumping on point for a character that has been around for so long. I think he did a really admirable job.
  22. Should I invest in limited edition newbies? YES! Less people in the pool to compete for the better-older stuff divad!
