  1. Great copy!! +1! Interesting to see with all that's been posted how some copies (not VK's) look more brown as opposed to red. Print production related, age/storage issue or simply different scan settings? Hey Jayman, which reds? The background is brown, the woman's dress is red; do you mean the lettering? Just not sure which part you're asking about.
  2. This thread deserves a bump for Veterans Day. Here's a panel courtesy of Jack Kirby, from one of the greatest war stories ever published. But which book and when......?
  3. No horror comics yet? Let's right that wrong:
  4. This is my undercopy, in case anyone is interested in a cash plus trade. Take my money AND a copy of the book....PM me.
  5. Here's my Beth: I'm always looking for an upgrade and will pay well over guide....
  6. Great book! Still surprised that after all this time they still don't designate this as a classic cover! I've always thought that Harvey horror books don't seem to be revered in the same way as other PCH, or taken as seriously by the powers that be. Just a thought. Maybe because there are a lot of file copies out there. They aren't really rare. Great covers and contents though. I love 'em! Also love your exploding sig line. Not many here would post coverless in theirs. I love 'em all from coverless to file copies! Well if there are a lot of file copies out there then I'm looking in the wrong places. I've been posting on the WTB thread and scouring sites for a nice COC 23 for a while and haven't found anything. You know, if you want a ToT 15, there's plenty out there for sale, and a pretty good amount of WT25 and BCM50. CoC23 just does not come up for sale. Not in grade, but at all. I have the Bethlehem copy and I've been trying to upgrade it with a file copy for a decade now.
  7. The offer popped up in my Facebook feed and was a total impulse buy!
  8. Its been waaaaay too quiet on this thread, so I'm going to tell a story. I was shocked today. I was running errands dressed low-key in jeans and my new Sgt. Rock t-shirt (with the image from OAAW 280). Ironically, one of those errands was picking up some comics that had arrived at my offsite mailbox. I also went to my dry cleaners, the grocery store, Target, and to Star$s. At every stop someone commented on the shirt. Every. Single. Stop. Age: younger than me (most looked millennial-ish). Both men and women. All positive. These were kids who were not even born when Rock stopped being regularly published. And they all liked the shirt. Not a character that's ever had a movie. Not the big names in comics. Not Batman, Superman, Spider-man, Wolverine. Just Sgt. Frank Rock, running toward them with Thompson blazing. Renewed my faith in the next generation of comic book readers...
  9. Definitely a great little "short run" and I hope to see a group shot when you complete. Not all 5.0 or better but glad to have it complete... Robot, that is one sweet picture!!
  10. Congrats on a great cover! That is a seriously creepy looking horse...
  11. That's a great cover! Beware is one of my favorite "short runs" of books. My goal is to have the run complete in 5.0 or better by the end of next year.
  12. Yeah, I saw that original cover too. It looked better with the rotting head cover, but I think they were toning it down with the "Code" coming out soon. This is the original planned cover. I agree, it would have been a lot cooler; still a great image as published tho. Any idea who owns that original cover? That's amazing. The original is on my list of Harvey covers that have never been publicly sold (all of the "keys" are on that list as well). Someone bought them before Heritage, but I don't have any idea who. My favorite unseen original from that pile: CoC 23.
  13. BEAUTIFUL colors on this copy. When you say "underwater covers", do you mean horror only, or all underwater-themed covers? I'm a huge fan of underwater horror myself.
  14. Very nice! Wasn't this cover edited right before press? I seem to remember seeing the original version with a rotting corpse holding the shovel. Yeah, I saw that original cover too. It looked better with the rotting head cover, but I think they were toning it down with the "Code" coming out soon. This is the original planned cover. I agree, it would have been a lot cooler; still a great image as published tho.
  15. Great display of coolness. What is that foreign HOM 256 in the corner? Is that a Mexican edition? I've never seen one-very nice. That Beware 10 is a ringer though, since it's GA. You should probably get rid of it. I'd be glad to dispose of it for ya....
  16. While we are on the subject of celebrity "pedigree" labels, I know of only one other celeb whose collection is noted on CGC slabs, Rueben Blades. Are there others, or are his and Cage's the only ones that are noted on the slab?
  17. I REALLY want the new TFTC series to be awesome; there are a lot of things going against it tho. The latest I heard I that its going to be part of a block of programming, and they might go anthology format like HBO and the original comics, OR story arc a la American Horror Story. I also read that they are crowdsourcing story ideas. Ummm....hello? Bill and Al have all the story ideas you need. I like a majority of M Night's work (some are brilliant!), but I hope this isn't just a project they are tacking his name onto.
  18. Thanks to the recent CLink auction, another pickup from my 2016 want list. I've always loved this cover image:
  19. I latched onto Farrell war as a favorite when my goal was to have every pre-code war book (I've since abandoned that pipe dream, ). Why? They are the epitome of over-the-top. Racist? Check. Jingoistic? You bet. Plot? Thin, at best, but always fast-paced. In short, they are insane. Almost every story is just fun to read. One time on a whim I counted the number of times the "G" slur was used in a random issue: 34.
  20. I used to get both of those thru Scholastic at school. They also had a magazine called Weird Worlds with early Bissette horror art.
  21. Congrats on some very cool pickups! I've always liked the Kubert/Andru & Espo team up on the cover to SSWS 124.
  22. I like Redondo a lot and he stuck with Rock well into the 80s. I'm a big fan of Redondo. Also of Talaoc-his Unknown Soldier run is fantastic. Those guys (along with Tanghal) really kept the war and horror titles moving. I also like the Kubert School grads who contributed a lot of work toward the end of the runs.
