  1. yep, when all I wanted to do was read the story Bought about 200 of those "returns" from the SA era for 10 bucks and had many weeks of summer reading material. Of course, that's back when getting $1 to cut the lawn with a push mower was a big deal...(probably '75-77 timeframe). -bc
  2. First off, thanks for embracing feedback ! Didn't vote the first time, but not a fan of the change to quote truncation. Specifically in sales threads with several issues of the same title. Same reason as mentioned earlier, extra clicking and impacting the continuity of the user experience. I am primarily a laptop/desktop user, mobile access is less than 5% of my time on the boards and that's usually to check to see if I got an invoice for a purchase. Rather see if we can shrink the user info box from 14.75% of the width of the screen (236 pixels out of 1600) to fit more user generated content as well as shrinking all the Quote and "Like this" area. If we wanted to communicate on Facebook, we'd have moved there already. And wasn't a "+1" the same as a "Like"? Admittedly old school -bc
  3. Hi jimbo ! Great sales thread (as usual) ! I'll take this one if it hasn't been claimed. Thanks! -bc
  4. Staying on the Amazing Adventures theme .... Manoo ! -bc

  6. The Tales of Suspense 27 & Strange Tales 86 via PM Thanks! -bc
  7. On Saturday, the local news channels were billing this as a "pop culture event" and only showed footage of cosplayers. After watching 2 different networks coverage (5 & 8), I might have seen the back of Dave & Adams sign for a split second - that was the closest thing to a comic book I saw. I was all ready to head down this morning and then checked the admission price on their website.... $55 ?!?!? Did head out - to the local meat market and got the biggest sirloin and some Guinness Stout instead. Still a Jackson less that the admission price. After reading that there was less than 10 comic booths, glad I went with plan B. The local shows in Strongsville, Akron & Kent had 3 times (at least) as many dealers last year and maybe cost $10 each admission. Only problem was the stock didn't change that much between shows. Hope everyone had a great time & the dealers made a profit ! Looking forward to the local con season to get going ! -bc
  8. Check out the Silver Comics forum for the "Pre-Hero Marvels!!!!" thread. Lot of silly monster collectors over there. -bc

  10. Since the vast majority of my meager post count has happened in this thread, I feel like I should let you know that I’ve been cheating on you… Wait, don’t throw that, let me explain…no it wasn’t with your sister… Yeah, I was drunk - me, Billy & Jeff had a great night out and I must have come home and logged into eBay. I have no memory of it, but I bought a Marvel Mystery Comics 28 in CGC 6.0. Didn’t know it for 2 days until I logged into my email account and saw the invoice. Once I saw the time of the purchase, I put 2 and 2 together and realized it was a classic drunken purchase. Yes, I could have sent it back with some lame excuse about you not letting me buy it, but once I got it, I sorta liked it. It was almost like a PHM cover on steroids-so many colors and actions compared to the fairly minimalist art of the PHM era. No, you’re not fat… I hid it in the back of the short box for a while hoping you wouldn’t see it. When you went out, I would glance at the Timely auctions on Clink or CC. Then erase my browser history… Every now and then, when there was no PHM book I wanted in the auction, I bought a Timely, Schomburg, Human Torch on the cover book (preferably a pre-WWII book)… You didn’t see them ‘cause I shipped them to the office…. No, I didn’t have anything else shipped to the office and you’re sister wasn’t involved…. Well, the affair has been going on for the last 3 years… Wait, don’t throw that either…. Anyway, in the last big Clink auction I picked up the Human Torch Comics #2/#1 to complete my mini-run : Wait , what?? You want a divorce????? Think about little Googam and Titano…. Yes, I sought help in the GA forums and they enrolled me in their 12 step program. With some further counseling, I think I can control this… No, your sister isn’t on the GA forums either…. I’m sorry, I know you deserve better – just can’t go on like this anymore. I know, it’s the couch for me tonight…. -bc
  11. My mailman had to deal with GOOM : [edit - first attempt at posting failed} Thank you Bronty ! -bc
  12. To me : education, community, endless rabbit holes of books & genres to explore, sales threads, event notices and more education. This place is like the LinkedIn for panelologists. Got started here just like others - was going to buy a book on eBay and saw a slabbed copy and had to learn more. Got hooked on PunyHuman's Pre-Hero Marvel thread in the Silver Age section, watching BronzeAgeFan complete his 20 30 year run of Marvel comics and seeing all the amazing pedigree books. And yes, there have been some very interesting characters and some great entertainment value along the way! Its been part of my daily internet habit for years. Hope it continues! -bc
  13. Great first GA pickup -beautiful copy ! Be careful - my addiction started with a Marvel Mystery Comics #28 (in CGC 5.0 as well!). -bc

  16. Very nice copies! Hmmmm..."714" on the cover of that TTA12 ....wasn't that a 'lude reference back in the day? -bc/bcambier
  17. I've been wondering that myself since the dates were announced. I can only assume they got a great price and had to cut cost. Seriously poor planning - would have been better if it were at the IX Center or somewhere less than 2 blocks away from the parade route on Friday. Parking will be a nightmare then. Might head in on Saturday, Cavs are on the road that weekend so it may be a good day to sneak into downtown. Good luck to the dealers! -bc
  18. Fast shipping, solid grading, easy communications - will look forward to more purchases! Love the pull-tabs on the tape to make it easy to remove from the packaging! Thanks! -bc
