  1. Who is the artist - if you dont mind saying?
  2. When I started collecting art - My collecting was almost 100% not nostalgia (in terms of specific series), but lately I am trying to focus a bit more on nostalgia pieces as I find it makes me happy. I started collecting comics in the late 1980s. So my prime nostalgia would be 1985-1995. I still collect comics now. Having always gone back to collect back issues - my comic interests go back to the silver age. In other words as a comic collector buying back issues - extends my nostalgia period. At the same time, I have fallen in love with 50s and 60s illustration art. No idea why - but I love it. So in that case I am with you Bird. Collecting based on pure enjoyment.
  3. make mine marvel? Another recent thread made mention that Matt Stock (make mine marvel) uses shilling on ebay to raise the value of his auctions. Wondering if there is any evidence of this, or if this is just guessing? perhaps someone has kept track of repeat bidders or other such evidence? I have bought a couple of pieces from his ebay auctions in the past and felt the prices ended fairly. lately prices are going higher, but with current auctions being what they are (Clink and heritage) I didn't suspect anything. any current information would be great.
  4. Outstanding piece! Framing looks great. I agree about not framing the comic side by side the art. While it can look great, if you got limited space - I would rather display more OA.
  5. I think we all have that sellers remorse some times. These days I can sell with no issues, but there is some art I sold years ago I would love to have back. In your case - consider yourself lucky that you have found some sold pieces. Usually the art is 'lost' forever. There are several pieces in my collection that I lost at auction or passed on at an artist's table the first time - but got a 2nd chance when the other buyer decided to sell.
  6. Awesome page! Getting a hercules vs thor piece is one of my collecting goals. Congrats again!
  7. Hi. Just added Madman 1995 yearbook cover . See art in CAF link. Below is the color/published version. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1383510
  8. Listing is more accurate - but since we're talking quality material - then selling ia likely happening too.
  9. Good call. I was thinking this past week or so. Mind you - didnt notice this happening last year.
  10. Is selling art on an uptick? Is it just me - or are folks selling off a lot more good stuff than usual these days? Been trying to curtail spending, but good stuff keeps appearing. Forcing myself to sell old stuff to pay for all the new stuff. Is it just me? Possible reasons for all the selling activity could be 1. Cashing out at record prices to cover life 's expenses. 2. Selling to raise funds for amazing stuff in upcoming auctions or private sales. 3. Insert your idea here.. At any rate - maybe selling activity hasnt gone up? Some here have longer views of the comic market. Wondering what boardies here think? If it is - is that a sign that speculation in our hobby is growing (since most collectors like to hold onto what they got - and not as likely to sell?)
  11. While I havent taken big advantages of any of the extras - I am a premium member because I want CAF to be around a long time. I get a lot out of it and $75 is a small price to pay to support something that brings me so much enjoyment. Oh and loading isnt quicker from my experience.
  12. Its not mine. Just passing info along. Look the piece up on caf and see if he still has it. He wanted around 3,500 or so.
  13. Theres a splash from dd 300 on caf. The guy was selling on ebay but it didnt sell. Its kingpin punching dd. He wanted around 3.5k. If interested, look him up on caf. I think his name might have been randy embelton. Or something to that effect. Good luck in your search.
  14. Been looking for art by Peter Hsu for a while. Would still love an adventurers cover. Or other art. If you have something cool, but not too racy - let me know. Below is the cover to Elf Warrior #4. A short lived indy series from the black and white indy boom period.
  15. You may have seen it. But there is a 4k page on ebay right now. Feom issue 100 new mutants.
  16. Thanks for finding it. I like both versions, but the color definitely masks the original art.
  17. Thanks for the picks. If you got any names/contacts for that booth please share. The dr strange piece at the top really caught my attention. But lots of great stuff to see.

  23. Ok. So art is by Larroca and Townsend. It was not a used cover - but does anyone recall seeing this image in house ads of the time or catalogs or anything like that? Btw - love all the deduction in figuring out who the characters are/were. Any other guesses would be welcome.
