  1. Marmalade; I like marmalade. Back OT: it's deadest I've noticed it over the ~2 yrs I've been here. But I've seen similar life-cycles on other message boards, probably the next phase we see will be another spurt of growth and not death.
  2. Always admired this spread (from the pages of ST 167):
  3. I prefer Cap 110 to Steranko's (probably) more popular Hulk Annual by a little bit.
  4. everytime I see that I think it says something else as I recall it ends with HOT GRAILS INSIDE
  5. My preference, in order: detached only (no resto or tape); new staple(s), archival tape; tape.
  6. I'm overdue to post Andy some kudos - in past couple of years received prizes from Andy's Green Eggs Grading contest that were shipped securely and arrived with what looked like a stamp collection (!) covering the package. Great comics like Hulk 3 and (I forget the other atm). Anyway, last week purchased a CGC early Avengers from Andy's thread - Andy sent it to Crassus who had other books I bought ready to ship, and combined to ship to me in US. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from the 3rdGreenham again, obviously. Thanks.
  7. Bought a batch of cool books, tightly graded, discounted!, and Jared even gave me free ship as part of the package. Oh yeah, the package arrived right away, and securely protecting the comics. And then he let me swap out one book for another, I can be so high maintenance. Great bronze, thanks sir!
  8. I've been too fussy lately to buy much on the boards, except where Crassus is concerned and I'll always drop in just to see if there's anything even remotely on my radar. I.e. top trusted seller. He took care of me again, shipped very securely and super quick - books were probably undergraded (as is often the case), and even arranged to have another Canada seller (I do so like green eggs and ham) ship him my purchase to consolidate shipping. Hard not to sound like ebay gushing after another trade with Rob. Thanks bud. !!
  9. Not much -at least that I recall- about stories, very art-centric reactions.
  10. This might only be slightly moreso, but there were a couple of major sales threads (bounty_coder around Halloween with super-large pics & DeadOne's just a couple of weeks ago) in past couple of months with many examples of bronze horror mags, hopefully the pics are still hosted, there were a lot of great mags sold/for sale in these very large threads (37 & 41 pp.) - often accompanied by some great info and sometimes fan reactions.
  11. Great books, Gene ! [very happy w/my new 3 lower-mid grade Amazing Fantasy/Amazing Adventures, priced fairly and shipped securely and quickly.]
  12. I think later editions of MGN #1 (this book) have US & Canada cover pricing, and some have US/Canada/UK pricing on cover, the ones with UK price probably are even later reprint editions. quick add: No sweat, bud, you're a friend, and I have two, and it's just an avg. VGF copy (at best might score a 6.5, mainly because of that scuff). just made a secure bundle, USPS will pick it up tomorrow to bring it to you.
  13. Hey NoMan, I have an extra copy of this I can send you, pretty sure it's also first ed. (matches my other copy exactly, including 5.95 cover price, and no mention of which edition/printing). Not sure what the later editions (2nd prints and later) have inside to indicate what # edition is it. Some of the later Graphic Novel series had different prices for later editions (like the New Mutants #4 has 4.95 cover price on 1st Ed., and later editions have higher cover price).
  14. MF 1 Hey, that's great, thanks Andy !! Shoot me your address and I'll ship it tomorrow - please share your instructions or advice on the ship method (probably USPS will be best but I'm open to preference), I've packed it safely, but you won't ge a bonus stamp collection though - it's in a bubble envelope, then taped inside a hard cardboard sandwich, then 3 layers of bubble and then in a box (weighs a bit over 2.5 lbs).
  15. I really like most date stamps, particularly when crisp and well placed. But not those that are smudged, though, those can really look bad. Sometimes they are very faint and might be a slight detraction from the book. A lot of defects that are visible on close inspection are not mentioned on labels, though i wouldn't mind if labels always included "date stamp" when present.
  16. Marvel Feature 1 VF- 7.5 (1st Defenders) PRICE SHIPPED $137, paid to Flex on behalf of Roshni, incl. shipped priority box US (except neighbors to north/so. also will please send me actual ship cost minus $12 I'll pay) GPA 1 yr $162 (15) and 90 days $137 (4) pics on request
  17. As a former fellow (quasi) tax professional, I say, "hear hear!" ; )
  18. No sweat amigo, thousand sounds great, mostly X-Men? What else pokes your buttons these days aside from savvy 'investment/spec' books?
  19. Dropped, then leveled off, as I recall you already know about ST 110, and FF 45 also had seen much better days. In lower-mid grades, Hulk 1 and TTA 27 both had cooled to varying degrees, but the Hulk has recovered a bit -again based on sketchy recollection of a comment and anecdote there. Cap 117 hasn't reached its Civil War peak I think, Oh, not an anchor at all, but low-mid grade Spideys haven't moved much in 10 years.
  20. Friggin insane. It sux that you had to experience it, but worthwhile that you shared so others can benefit from the lesson without any of the pain.
  21. take w/special thanks to Crassus for making it work for me with a combined shipment from Canadia !!
  22. Yes, sir, at least a month "early." That book was "Dec." but it might have been even October when it hit the stands, although you're right, Nov. is more likely. I feel old when you say that, was around 10 at the time, but I guess it's all relative, I've read boardies that talk about buying e.g. FF 45 or 67 or some other mid 60s book as their first exposure to superhero comics and had the exact same reaction as you.
  23. Good OP, you clearly did some research before posting which will take you far in a demanding place like these boards. Just imo, although some high-flyers or well established members sell some big books with just a front pic or front with bottom edge cut from scan, by far the most successful sellers include full front and back for each major book for sale.
