  1. Not comics, but sci-fi/fantasy related - some you-tubes I've enjoyed most over past years are the Plinkett red letter media reviews of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. They are pretty long for video-reviews (all have multi-parts), and heck, I enjoyed Plinkett's more than the original source movies he reviewed (not saying a lot I know). You will immediately know (within first few minutes) if these vids are your cup of tea: Hope you find a help for the pain, that sux, good luck with the recovery man.
  2. I'd buy an FF 1 or JIM 83 to replace my 'GRR' 60s reprint copies.
  3. Thanks Lizard, I stand corrected! Haven't bought from JS in a while, and anyway I meant someone else with that endorsement - I'll try to add the guy I mean that also begins with a "J."
  4. Let's say a seller sells undisclosed restoration - buyer returns, seller quickly complies and says "sorry". Positive feedback (or no feedback) would almost universally be given anyway, since buyer got his money back. Sometimes you gotta read between the lines to find these, and they could be a few paged back. Let's say a seller calls a VF but comic is really only a FN - but the winning bid is a good price - and comic arrives as pictured and quickly. Again, most buyers will leave positive feedback, possibly adding a reference to 'weak grading'. With high volume sellers, these drop down quickly to p 2. If you research many pages back of feedback and do a lot of reading between the lines, you can sometimes find those 20,000 feedback sellers with a lot of lukewarm endorsements. Sometimes the opposite is true - great sellers get feedback that just says "thanks." So it's very iffy to use feedback alone. I've just seen too many super-high feedback sellers that I wouldn't buy from (or tried once and learned a lesson). Like that scammer "collectors comics" has amazing score, yet buries disclosure of "slight restoration" in middle of text block, and uses the term "slight" when it's actually extensive. (Tricky because the meaning of "slight" by the pros includes what most normal people would not consider "slight" when it includes more than a tiny bit or two, and who knows how much you need for it to be "moderate" resto - I'd guess extensive given the liberal use of the term 'slight').
  5. Agreed, me too. Rely heavily on scans and stated return policy.
  6. Ebay feedback is generally garbage and not a reliable indicator.
  7. Been shopping ebay on/off for 10 years - here're some high volume I've liked that others apparently like too (high ending bids): zilla4f (Lange) comics4less - expect to pay high since they grade tightly and have tons of followers JSComics Infinity comics OK sellers (w/ grades at least in the ballpark if not spot on): Sell my comic books (previously Goodrockrich) is ok, can take a while to ship, and seems to press every book before listing it. Crystal city (I think) AND just some guy selling his comics who assigns grades AND with scans that match Sellers I avoid because of warning signs or outright scammer jerks: coast to coast collectors comics (I'd quit collecting before I'd send him a penny of my money) others- my memory's not cooperating right now, haven't shopped in a few weeks
  8. Wow, some very nice keys, good luck !
  9. Thanks, you're right of course, I can picture his signature now that you mention it.
  10. Here's another obscurity, from Vol 8 of the same Index.
  11. Nice, aardvark, that was in the back of my mind and glad you shared it. This one's not my copy, didn't want to break out the box just for a pic, easier to find one on webz. Olshevsky must've commissioned the cover of vol 4 of his index featuring the FF like he did with some covers to other volumes of his Index (Adams on Avengers, Byrne on X-Men etc).
  12. Because in general they are a lot cheaper than their unrestored counterparts.
  13. Mystafo, I just lost to adam in your thread as I consulted my list to make sure I needed the 69. Have a nice 65 already, sorry. : ( So it's not just Camcav, I'm apparently counter-blessed - so hope karma means one day I'm gonna get a really amazing 'take.'
  14. If comcav collected Bronze or Silver I'd want separate boards for those two categories on the chance that he might be busy checking over there at SA or BA and then I might actually win the occasional GA book I still try for (these days if I even try any more I quickly lose and then delete).
  15. Marmalade; I like marmalade. Back OT: it's deadest I've noticed it over the ~2 yrs I've been here. But I've seen similar life-cycles on other message boards, probably the next phase we see will be another spurt of growth and not death.
  16. Always admired this spread (from the pages of ST 167):
  17. I prefer Cap 110 to Steranko's (probably) more popular Hulk Annual by a little bit.
  18. everytime I see that I think it says something else as I recall it ends with HOT GRAILS INSIDE
  19. My preference, in order: detached only (no resto or tape); new staple(s), archival tape; tape.
  20. I'm overdue to post Andy some kudos - in past couple of years received prizes from Andy's Green Eggs Grading contest that were shipped securely and arrived with what looked like a stamp collection (!) covering the package. Great comics like Hulk 3 and (I forget the other atm). Anyway, last week purchased a CGC early Avengers from Andy's thread - Andy sent it to Crassus who had other books I bought ready to ship, and combined to ship to me in US. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from the 3rdGreenham again, obviously. Thanks.
  21. Bought a batch of cool books, tightly graded, discounted!, and Jared even gave me free ship as part of the package. Oh yeah, the package arrived right away, and securely protecting the comics. And then he let me swap out one book for another, I can be so high maintenance. Great bronze, thanks sir!
  22. I've been too fussy lately to buy much on the boards, except where Crassus is concerned and I'll always drop in just to see if there's anything even remotely on my radar. I.e. top trusted seller. He took care of me again, shipped very securely and super quick - books were probably undergraded (as is often the case), and even arranged to have another Canada seller (I do so like green eggs and ham) ship him my purchase to consolidate shipping. Hard not to sound like ebay gushing after another trade with Rob. Thanks bud. !!
  23. Not much -at least that I recall- about stories, very art-centric reactions.
