My recent experience says that Moderns are moving a lot quicker than Vintage.

    Modern Received: 4/2, Shipped: 4/5

    Modern Received: 4/12, Shipped 4/18

Vintage Received 3/2, Graded (as per cert page) 4/11, Shipped 4/26

How long did it take them to open the shipment of moderns to sfg? Or is that what received meant?

    @Qalyar Happy I could help. :)

@ADAMANTIUM The announcements for the Awards will absolutely be happening. There will be a teaser of the Awards prize package in the upcoming Collectorverse newsletter and I will post a thread for the Awards as well on the Registry forum. There is also still time to enter to win the prize for the Collectorverse Fun & Games section. That cutoff date is May 31st.

    Just an FYI ???
I double checked I was signed up for the newsletter, but other options have been selected a long time now, and I still don't ever receive emails from the comics nor cards news....and offers

I had pm'd about it, or tried to resave the settings several times to no avail, so idk.

anymore.  Unless I'm watching a street musician I'm into the stratosphere for a concert.

Sporting Events,  Try a NY Knick,  Ranger or Yankee game to feel fleeced

Restaurants?  Man if you want some inflation try eating out.  Better yet head out to California for some $18 Big Macs.

Yes, everything is going to cost $100-300 or whatever. I did get $21 tickets in 2022 for one of the games judge was stuck at 61, but they were nosebleeds and I am pretty sure we spent $30-40 per person for the 6 of us (4 kids) on food/drinks too (which is pretty easy with $16 beers). From a collector's standpoint the money spent on any one of these things can be spent on some really nice book that isn't gone in an hour, so there's that. Comics, especially if you are selective and not hoovering 3 million dollar books, at least don't take up a ton of space, which I guess is why the whole hobby went toward keys, semi-keys and super HG slabs, rather than folks collecting runs like they used to.

If we're following up, I too did some concerts and or stand up, it all cost about the same at around $250 for two people, but that might just be the seats I could afford lol

I saw Adam Sandler a year ago February in rafters, "Fluffy" or Gabriel Iglesias floor seats this March, and Green Day behind the foul ball net but close.to the stage this September!

sent my very first submission and which was unlimited value, very disappointed in the turnaround times given versus what actually happened.

Apparently the turnaround time doesn't include the time it just sits at their facility, in fact according to them they didn't get it for a week after it was signed for , actually it sat for 12 days because Cgc didn't Even acknowledge it was there, I have many UV books to send in and I'm reconsidering, thinking about just getting high quality holders for them and bypass Cgc.

The clock on the official TAT starts when the box is opened and the books enter SFG. Most times of the year boxes are opened quickly so this difference in counting time is negligible, but when Con season hits there is often a slowdown for opening boxes.

One of the things that is really useful about this particular thread is people sometimes include when the books arrived at CGC. Looking back through a few pages you can sometimes see how long it is taking for boxes to be opened. The waiting for grading is mostly irrelevant to me outside of getting super curious about how the books did, but if it really bothers you then it is better to submit in the winter and away from when large comic conventions are scheduled.

Best of luck with the grades!

All good words of advice and encouragement on timing. I sent in a submission today, and due to when cgc will inevitably charge me I called to ask how long for boxes being opened.

I'll try to update upon arrival. Also they have a package tool for the USPS tracking or other, on the my submissions page. So even if they haven't opened to sfg, you can at least track that the package arrived and was scanned in.

I hope this helps, also depending on if you're new new, CGC gives instructions for uv to write that on the box for priority opening. All good things to mention. I think the last post about the time of the year might help more, but depending on how funds are, maybe this post will help alleviate as well ❤️‍🩹 😉

    They certainly do.

As a for instance, I had this ASM 316 go for what was a record price at the time. One sale landed above this in GPA at around the same time, but I believe that one was a news stand that was not recognized as such on the slab or in the notes.

It is a lot of fun to be on the right side of these sales.

Speaking of which, how do you get the newsstand notation that aren't editions but just newsstand in name only?

I filled out a Batman submission form today #563 & 570, which I typed in newsstand but the choice didn't come up. It's a near 2000 age newsstand and we'll after this asm #316?

  7. Amen! I was able to make adjustments to the registry as well :x

@jstam will there soon be announcements of when the deadlines are? It is usually in June, but a finished date with award categories and prize list I hope happens! I'm sure it will or usually there is an announcement of when and how etc :)

Ok, here is a new comparison between the art Ross Andru penciled and the real-life reference he used.  I haven't done a new one of these in probably over a year because I thought I had found them all.  And for the most part, I had.  This one is subtle and I guess I knew it was there, I just didn't give it any energy.

In Giant-Size Spider-Man #2, the initial action is set in the power plant over by 59th Street Bridge (Queensborough Bridge today) and I had covered that reference fairly extensively, mostly owing to the fact that Ross did not draw the correct power plant that is actually located by the bridge.  He corrects this in Amazing Spider-Man 152.

The end of the story in GS SM #2 is set at the Empire State Building and Ross gives the reader a few panels of the ESB, just to make sure we aren't sleeping.  But the thing I did not notice before was the little details he put into the ESB lobby.  I do feel he took a lot of liberties on the elevators, but he makes them ornate, like the actual ESB elevators, which I think is neat.

    Well I am now lol

It is a bit out of my price range, rarely over even $500 in my case lol for collecting, but yours should be considered near asking. Amazing you could accomplish all that in 5 years!

But I agree that you should do well, I'd be curious what kind of offers are on the table, but I'm not asking, probably should be private I assume.

    Hoping for the best though!

I want to say also, we need to find the last poll, because even though I've got older I want to say I still see similar results in "this poll!"

Which would prove your point and or alleviate some trepidations.
