  1. No offense to HT, but I've seen this sentiment posted several times in this thread, and I disagree, as it's CGC's boards and they have the final say on anything. All this "the OP has total ownership and what he says goes" is a pipe dream and I wish people would stop posting such fairy tales. If there's a lot of BS posting in sales threads, even if the OP approves of it, the Mods need to, and likely will, step in.
  2. He was spotted as the new door man at Chuck e Cheese Excellent news, and I can only assume you have him under constant surveillance?
  3. That's the problem in a nutshell. Check out Blue's thread, it's like the Marketplace has turned into Comics General - why not post all that drivel in the appropriate area? Marketplace: An area where goods and/or services are bought and sold.
  4. Could you please explain this bizarre statement? You're saying that spending $10K on medical supplies should be treated with complete professionalism and dignity, but a $10K transaction on a GA book should be conducted like a drunken 10-year old with zero professionalism and even less tact? When have you sold a $10K book on here?
  5. P.S. In case you're missing the point (which is quite obvious), ANY transaction involving a buyer and seller should be conducted with professionalism and tact. Just because someone spent $10K on a GA comic rather than a crate of earwax remover doesn't mean the one sale is a joke, and the other some life-altering experience.

  7. There seems to be a lot of people on here missing that integral "enough is enough" gene.
  8. Good question. I think it's okay if something changes, and I can remember one time I backed out of a PM deal because the set of scans I received showed serious foxing on the covers and I hate foxing. The seller and I agreed to drop it, since that was never disclosed. But just backing out because you feel like it.. probably earns you a place on the list.
  9. I've gotta say something about this, as it happens quite often. I can remember the sales thread, and l'il Gil was all hyped up about selling some comics for a "big purchase" or something, and he sounded all desperate, like he'd sell his first-born to get the money. It's a tonal difference, as many people sell to buy something, but you could almost hear him slavering over his keyboard when he typed. That set off some alarm bells, as I've seen the exact same MO play out on the boards, and usually the guy gets the money and you don't hear from him again. Who knows why, maybe it's seller remorse, maybe his original deal fell through or he got ripped off, and he doesn't feel obligated to follow through on his other deals, but I never buy comics from a Desperate Collector, as their mental frame of mind is usually not the best.
  10. Agreed, and if the Mods would actually delete a thread or two, it might go a long way towards a better marketplace. But as it stands, people can do absolutely anything they want, and continue selling.
  11. Can you look up the "date graded" online or something? if you have the slab #, yes, accounts can look it up and find out when graded So that's a "no"?

  13. Wrong, that was put in to insure that books were actually listed, graded, scanned, priced, sold, shipped, etc, through the forums, and that the CGC Marketplace wouldn't be filled with: "Hey, I have some books for sale, click here!" kinds of BS. And no, it's certainly not limited to dealer/auction-only sites, and is intended to keep transactions centered on the forums.
  14. If the individual books and grades are NOT also listed on here, then yes, that's a violation. People mistakenly think that is a "dealer guideline", but I was one of the main proponents of including it, and that was put in there to insure that the books would be listed, priced, graded, and sold on the forum, not just a "I have some books" message with a link to another site or host.
  15. Sorry, but that's BS - if I would have had kids even a few years before when I did, my marriage likely would have ended badly - you absolutely positively NEED to be ready to accept the responsibility for a child, or get ready to be a divorce statistic.
  16. Being "on the fence" is hardly what I'd recommend for starting a family. It's a huge adjustment and you have to be ready or you really shouldn't jump in. Important things to consider: After maternity, who's going to look after your child? What are the costs and do your schedules support drop-off/pick-up? Is the employment situation solid? A baby adds a whole bag of stress, lost sleep and worry, and at first, you'll need some understanding at work. Can your finances support it? Is your work flexible enough to take a few sicks days for a kids with the flu? Can you handle it physically and mentally? When we had our first child, it was scary thinking that this little person depends on you totally, and cannot survive without you. Make a single mistake, like going to pick up the phone during bath-time or not having adequate protection from stairs, sharp objects, electrical outlets, etc. and.... It's a monstrous responsibility the first few years. But then again, kids are a joy, and I separate my life as pre- and post-children. I never look back and wonder my choices anymore, as I can't bring myself to regret anything that brought me together with my kids.
  17. We all know that CGC's grading standards change every few months, but I hate to see it being done in such an obvious manner.
  18. I'm just tossing it all up there, but I have no idea why you thought covers like Cap 157 & 181 or Werewolf 18 wouldn't qualify.
  19. Hey, there's only so many of these things, and if the Champions were drawn by a quality artist, you'd be all over them.
