  1. Prize #18: $50 Paypal - donated by Harry Lime ...which I plan to spend on hard drugs and women
  2. England beat Australia again! @AJD Great contest guys - I snuck in at the last minute and I'm glad I did now Great fun and thanks for all your hard work @thirdgreenham @sckao
  3. I was under the impression that I had already done enough to confirm my love of variety....
  4. And talking of not giving a flying fart at a rolling doughnut, the GCD lists 'Star Trek The Final Frontier Movie Special' as having two covers, US newsstand and direct: Both covers have the same pricing as follows: US $2.00 CAN $2.50 U.K. 80p 1989 is of course long after the DC pence window and, that aside, there would be no need for a separate UK version as the triple priced US issues cover the UK market. I picked up a US newsstand to compare it to my £1.00 barcoded copy. The cover differences are: Pricing Top right CCA replaced with 'London Editions Magazines' Different barcodes £1.00 copy has '(c) 1989 Paramount Pictures Competition' along the top right edge The back covers (UK first): And the inside shows different back cover adverts and an amended indicia on the UK version again identifying 'London Editions Magazines' as the culprit: All the internal contents are identical (no ads in either), but the paperstock is superior on the £1.00 copy (at the back in the photo) compared to the newsprint US version: So not a new DC Price Variant and clearly a repackaged product. I wonder why it exists though? The 'competition' wording on the cover seems at odds with the cover pricing. If it was produced to be sold in shops, as the price suggests, why if a saleable version already exists via the US copies? Odd. Who wants to chip in? I'd ask rakehell, but he's confused
  5. ....youuuu are-are onnnn, the aiiirrrrr! Well, I like it. Afternoon Charlies Every so often I go trawling the titles on the 'missing list' and meet with customary zero success. When I started this thread, these five titles had yet to yield a pencificated copy: Then, in a rit of fealous jage, Teen-Age Hotrodders came a knocking with a pence price rocking (see a few pages back if you can be arsed) leaving us with a measly four unpencificated titles. Now something in my gut tells me that it needs to get out, and quickly. I blame the wife's cooking for that, but that's not relevant to the discussion. I say discussion. Something else in my gut tells me that the Kennedy one shot may never reveal itself to Pencedom. I mean, she's from the US of A isn't she and maybe someone decided that no one here in Blighty would give a flying fart at a rolling doughnut for her story. Never say never though, as the Connery Codger said. Again. Army War Heroes will likely exist. Even though there will only be one of him, I think he will appear as a 9d as there are Presidents on that. Precedents too. Which leaves us with SOLAM and TSD. When you look at them together on the master sheet (sounds like the chief Oriental poo doesn't it, 'master sheet'), we see a striking pattern. By the way, never get struck by a pattern if you can help it. Take it from me, it really hurts, and I try to rule that out of my life (that was for you Gnash @Gnasher if you ever return from your frankly unauthorised absence): So, you should never start a sentence with 'so' I'm told. Even so, that still leaves us with no pence copies for these two titles. Were they skipped? As Steve McGarrett once said, "I dunno, Danno". Anyway, I saw this lovely 10c copy of SOLAM out in the ether and just had to buy it, if only to feel one step closer to it's - possibly non-existent - pence cousin: Lovely isn't it. Beautiful logo and colouring. And I love a comic with a nice arrival date on it. 'July 1959' to the indicias October. So (there I go again), no pence copies of TSD and SOLAM. But maybe one day. Hope you enjoyed this ramble, despite the lack of pence copies. See ya Oh, one last thing: Never trust a grown man called Bart
  6. Thanks. I'll have a good rummage around later. A quick glance at the comics page suggests you may be being a little harsh on yourself....which I like
  7. Well you can't just leave it at that paqart! An actual comic artist posting here? We need to see pictures Show us your old DD artwork. Go on. I'm popping out now by the way. So if you do post some, and, having asked for it, I don't respond, don't take it as an insult! I'll be back...
  8. That applies all over doesn't it, alas. Certainly to music. It's out there, but not necessarily where you would expect to find it.
  9. Cheers for the scans Revat. Ren & Stimpy actually have an 'investigations' folder all to themselves. Quite an odd situation as it stands with just two confirmed APVs and a whole load of local reprints by Trielle Komix clashing. I wonder sometimes if the two APVs (12 &13) were produced in error. Time will tell.
  10. I actually preferred the Giant Size ASM's to the annuals myself for that reason so you've got something there.
  11. Indeed. Two a penny. Now your Charlton romance books on the other hand...
  12. What a load of rubbish Kid! Not a patch on the London Comic Fair! Why, they don't even have any AF #15's! Oh...
