  1. Credit where credits due. Even FF was funny again today. It must be all that cocaine Roys putting about.
  2. Thank you Ryan. That Stu must be a sad one. Shall we have a whip round and buy him a life?
  3. Hello @Kahnadah, thanks for dropping by. I see them as cents copies with dirty great stamps on them. I frown when I see them referred to as British variants and I've seen various reference sites get muddled between actual pence printed price variants and T&P stamped cents copies. On a similar theme, the phrase 'non distributed' causes havoc in my opinion, when used in the wrong hands. Don't forget to drop by my Marvel pence thread James - link in my signature line below (if you have them switched on) ?
  4. Indeed. Wonder what the cops will do about her getting stood up. Hopefully no murders in town that night...
  5. Stood up, called a stupid big mouth, smacked in the face and now facing the claws of blondie. Not her day is it.
  6. I thought the same. $120k and they're happy to start off with those pictures. It says 'better photos to come in a few days'. Why not wait until you have them then so you can start off cleanly? I'd be embarrassed to list a book for $120k with pictures that unappealing. Psychologically, it has probably put a lot of potential buyers off
  7. Oh, come on! That's got to be worth a like hasn't it? Come on! ?
  8. My understanding is that Overstreet does (or did) do this. It's the equivalent of map sellers (in the old days of paper maps) including on a city may a couple of small streets that don't actually exist. A long time back I wrote to Overstreet with a list of errors and omissions - there were some Spidey titles that were absent completely. I can't recall the exact response but none of the suggestions ever appeared, even though I said I would back them up with evidence. I think if everything was included, e.g. newsstands vs directs, the book would be three times the size! But I do love the Overstreet. Relevant or not, it's part of the fabric.
  9. Good idea from jimjum - the more info you put out, the more chance someone will stumble across them and surprise you. Plus we get to see all your lovely books
  10. This kind of thing always interests me and I've just spent 30 minutes trawling every comic site, Google etc. I had a similar thing with Amazing Spider-Man #42 and #43 which many leading comic sites and figures insisted existed as pence copies. My research over 10 years proved to me at least beyond reasonable doubt that they didn't. Once one leading site / comic figure makes the claim something exists, many others trust them and follow suit. The inaccuracy becomes the norm. Look at overstreet and the ASM promo in the Eye / Esquire magazines for another historical widespread inaccuracy. Trust your judgement @OtherEric If you haven't seen a copy in all the time you've been looking, and every single time the pictures stop at 64, then 65 and 66 almost certainly don't exist. In my case, I note my records 'not proven to exist'. The possibility of being corrected is slim to none. But putting the question out here can only help flush them out if they do (if you change the thread title to include peter wheat 65 66 it will show up better to potential searchers). But I think they don't! ?
  11. Nice. Be sure to let us see it when it arrives. Although I've stopped collecting, (526v long gone alas) I still like to keep up with what's out there. Even if it does make me wistful at times....
  12. Hi @Scott =) any idea what happened to @fastballspecial 's thread? It was a cool one...
  13. I did quit when I realised how much these cost me, and how poor most of them were.....
  14. Spot on. Being 'forced' (as a completist) to buy covers like these really got on my nelly: I have to say, if Marvel had stuck to the occasional good quality variant I'd still be buying today. This is a good quality set (albeit a first and second printing) - a great first cover and a quality homage alternative cover. I was delighted to get them: And here's three examples of extra covers which bring nothing at all to the party except a hole in your wallet: Variant covers should either be a spectacular piece of art, or have a purpose. What is the point of a standard pose, not particularly well done by an artist with no particular buzz around them that tells us nothing about the possibilities inside the comic? Cheap fodder to bolster the producers finances. But hey, I've digressed again - this is supposed to be the CREAM. Here are some of my favourite ASM Variants. The first one's a controversial choice, but there's something about it that is so off the wall and unexpected: And these two are just great pieces of art: I liked Ron Garney on ASM, and this is not only a great cover but tells you exactly what is going on: We all have our faves I guess.....
  15. There's a couple on Ebay Elmer, but I'm not sure they're NM+ copies. It's not even a nice cover (but I never liked the artist anyway). I stopped at v3 when it started to get really silly - it's not like the variants being produced were that good anyway. Post your 1:1000 if you can. I'd like to see a copy here
  16. Hi @Architecht, I just heard that the chap with no hair who used to fight Flash Gordon was in fact a very happy chap and not at all merciless. In fact, back in the day his minions used to call him "Gay Ming the Leader, Bald"
  17. I had a MJI Spidey with a crease like that on the back cover. Looked like an 8.0 and graded a 5.0
  18. True, but we can still eat the pizza while doing the Batbop. I'd be happy to have left either behind
  19. I agree. Too much has been shown already. Hell, they've even revealed that Spider-Man makes a cameo appearance.
  20. The early Bird caught the worm! Only 39,983 pictures to go ?
  21. Oh, that's rotten news. I have such fond memories of him as Batman. The original, and the best. There'll be a few zapps and ka-pows in heaven tonight.
