  1. There was so many cons this weekend CGC didn't go to East Coast! Think about that, no CGC at a Tri-State con. Crazy. Might be to many cons.
  2. I disagree with every year being worse than the year before, the first year had Neal Adams and cosplay, year two William Shatner lots of artists, year 3 Richard Dreyfus, Frank Cho, Mike Zeck, lou ferrigno, many many wrestlers and a major horror section. This year they went big on wrestlers and again horror. I'm not a horror or a wrestler fan and I think it was a mistake but up until this year the quality was growing. I think the real problem isn't Buffalo is to small for 3 days but to many cons in the area all being 3 days. You just had Toronto comic con, you have Niagara Falls in 3 weeks, London Ont in and Fan Expo in August. Add Rochester and Syracuse you are over saturated in the area. Plus Cleveland is only 3 hours away. Lots of cons for dealers to choose from. It might be wise to have the con earlier in the year during a slower con season.
  3. I went to the show on Friday and Sat. I had a few books signed and went to a few panels. It was fun, not as good a show as the last 3 years but still fun. A few guess cancelled including Linda Blair at the last minute due to illness really hurt attendance. Horror con part was well received. Still glad I went. I went to worse shows both in town and out. Better than a small show in a hotel.
  4. I think this cover is Rich Buckler during his Kirby Style years, I could be wrong too.
  5. The woman and Man in the middle of the cover always seemed like an Adams but the Drac and Bride like Romita, who did this cover?
  6. I just got back the first Punisher Comic mag that Corbin Bernsen signed after it was announced he was in the series. He signed 3 books and wrote on the covers "Signature #1"," #2" and "#3". I than had Mike Zeck also sign them at the same show than Jon Bernthal at another. Nice memory, signed at the Nickel City con last year.
  7. I agree. NM could have been 9.2 to 9.8 as we know and there is a major price jump between the numbers. A 9.2 @ $600 isn't an insult a 9.8 it is.
  8. So you figure at $350 you are being low balled, maybe. As a non dealer but a business person I wonder are you? If he was to pay you $600 book or $500 per book would he make enough to justify holding a book long enough to sell for the "over going rate"? This means money (inventory) sitting and not making any return on investment until the sale. Cost of show/store, plus the risk of the books value going down (all you need is Miller to be involved in another Spirit movie or say the wrong thing) I think a Dealer has to be working on a 30% or greater mark up to cover costs and risk. This sounds like a very scary business plan, than add eBay and Craigslist into this. It seems to me all the risk is in the dealers hands, the worse the seller of the book has is a questionable low ball price which he doesn't have to take. I now see why Boardies try and sell on the board first. I sell a few books on eBay and often I get an offer that is very low and I wonder why did they waste my time and theirs, I wonder is It because they are hoping for that one killer deal to cover all the bad ones that they had to make or are they *@$%, I don't know? I do know I wouldn't have sold the DKNR 2x for $350 either.
  9. Explain please? Is a Dark Knight 2x ss NM not going for $500-600 or money is made in smaller books-volume? I'm not a dealer so I do not know the answer but I would like too know.
  10. A NM (9.0 or better) for $350? This is a $500 to $600 value book so 25 to 30% fee. Not much of a mark up for booth and risk. I always assumed the real money was made on the smaller books because of volume or the lucky find.
  11. I go to a con and it isn't about the books its about the character, the costume and the cos playing, this is why keys are going up in price fast. It is all based on non readers loving the character but not the book. We can complain or smile and sell when the book (Character) is hot... than buy another book we want with the profit. And sometimes repeat the whole thing. My problem is I love the books so I think I'll sell but hardly ever do.
  12. Perfect, I couldn't say it as well but it was my thought.
  13. What I want to know is this a bubble or a long term market change. I think in the long run a Bubble, with a small amount of books going crazy up in prices. Example Hulk 181, Spider man 129, Luke Cage 1 and Fantastic Four first Black Panther. Some maybes are Ms.Marvel 1, Iron Man 1 and the first Spider Gwen. I'm sure we could all add or take away books. Why I think it is a bubble, the age of collectors. I do not see enough young people holding books for the long term. I could be wrong because I am basing this on limited facts.
  14. I work in the film industry, I have for over 30 year, the oversea market is the largest film market currently. More money is made outside of the USA than in. This will be an action movie aimed at that market. It will be big, how long it remains big will be based on reaction to the finished film. I plan on selling a few of my books as soon as the advertising starts. I collect but I also sell to pay for my collecting. So again I will sell off a few books at that time. Now as a fan I'm real excited about this project. The Iron Fist show suffered by poor producing and not enough pre production work. It was produced and shot to quickly and the end product showed it.
  15. The long term value will be based on public reaction. If the movie is big the first appearance books value will go up. If the movie sucks it will go down. Examples Guardians vs Suicide Squad. This book could go real big, think about the combo of international markets combined with James Bond style action. Best of both martial arts and spy movies. James Bond did this in the seventies and it worked. I feel the speculation is appropriate in this book.
  16. I'm glad, the character in film and comics doesn't need the pre-shooting bad press. I hope they go forward with a new creative team soon.
  17. I'm wondering about the Red Sonja movie/ Singer news and how it will affect the books future.
  18. From what I understand he was signing 14 books a day until the end.
  19. I just sold 2 signed William Shatner Star Trek #1's, has his comments of recent days sparked a Shatner interest?
  20. I took a look at the eBay sales and in Oct -Nov rough price was $945.00 for Nova 9.8, it has gone up roughly to $1,050.00. Is this just the drift up on price cause one sold for $5.00 more a week later and than the next goes up by $20.00 until it has gone up by $100.00 or is it cause the Eternals was announced and we are wondering if we are going to miss out on the next announced movie. I think its the latter.
