ETERNALS #1? Buy or sell? Will it last?
Grib replied to Dogsupreme's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I kept my books for 40 some years, most years I never looked at them, touched them or thought about them. I'm not sure if it is that different than a mutual fund I bought young and as long as it showed some growth, I let it be. I always knew it had value so letting it sit worked out. Now that I am nearing retirement age and I want to sell a few, you bet I look at the going rate. If you are always buying and selling books the quick turn around would scare the S**t out of me,the long haul I understand but the fake ads on eBay just puzzle me because the why is so silly. I don't think it was done out of education/noble action. It seemed angry to me and I don't understand the why. Is the person selling and buying? Looking at the prior sales I don't think so but they might have other accounts. I'm very glad that the Eternals are finally going up in value, now lets get Howard the Duck moving -

Sandman might be a harder sell though it could make a killer kids/young adult movie. Vertigo's Sandman I feel will happen first. HBO would be a fantastic place for it. -
ETERNALS #1? Buy or sell? Will it last?

I live in Buffalo and I'm driving today to the NJ con so the trip doesn't sound off the wall because of cons locations. Mapquest puts the time as 7:06 hours from Buffalo, maybe Sean Husvar is doing the same con trip I'm doing, just a thought? I don't know Sean and I'm not vouching for him or talking trash, I don't know him. I have a few 9.6 of Ms.Marvel but only 1 9.8 and it took work to get, to me the book was "rare" enough. Hulk 181 had a larger press run, correct? Rare is a vague word like natural on a box of cookies, but if you don't own one and want it is it correct. If I'm wrong about the Hulk press run I still think my point is right. -

The risk of an auction. Most times the books sell for less than expected. -

ETERNALS #1? Buy or sell? Will it last?
Grib replied to Dogsupreme's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I sell my books. Most I bought as a kid/teenager in the 70's and a few I bought in the last few years. Am I a flipper, maybe. On the average I hold on to a book for 40 years than sell them so I'm a very slow flipper because I do sell them for a profit. When I started there wasn't a name like flippers we were all just collectors or fans. I still feel that way. I bought a couple of signed books that I knew were underpriced to sell for a profit, that profit allowed me to buy other books. So I guess I don't understand the anger towards people selling at a higher price than they bought it at. The stereotype of a guy coming in to buy something from one of us and selling for a major profit while taking advantage of us I don't think happens often but I sure have traded many books only to find out later I didn't have a great deal. Yet the trade was not a flip. I have 9 #1's all very high grades, 6 #2's, 10 #3, 12 #4, 10 #5 and a few 6 & 7's, I plan on getting most graded than selling a few to pay for the grading and keeping most, I know this isn't flipping but if a flipper buys a few all I'm going to say is thanks. I think in the long run it makes collecting more fun and if I want to read a book I do it gently or I buy a reader. The game really hasn't changed. Now photos because that is really why I read the posts -

I have a few books that I bought off the rack around 77 so I'm game to have them graded than sell. Not sure if flipping is what I'm doing but I sure would like to make a high grade to sell half. It would allow me to buy higher grade signed books or sketches. Aardvark88 mentioned Kirby's Black Panther has sales remained high because of the movie being so hot? -

By his standards Ms.Marvel #1, Nova #1, Hulk 181, Spider-man 129 and most bronze comics are not rare and over priced. If he is making a stand on that issue all of our collections become less valuable on eBay. This might hurt.- 192 replies

I just asked eBay if they knew of this and they didn't. The representative was going to follow up but she also recommend we report the listing because if a few people report a listing the company reacts faster.

Was eBay contacted about this, they might not know?

Intersting! Does he have a book for sale? The local pick up only is odd too. I didn't know eBay offered this? Sounds off. -

Same here, not sure about this listing on eBay? https://www.ebay.com/itm/ETERNALS-1-CGC-9-8-WP-Marvel-Comics-1976-Jack-Kirby-Origin-1st-app-NOT-RARE/282929027078?epid=85371374&hash=item41dfe25806:g:lK0AAOSw0Lha1eI5 I have a few issues so I understand what he is saying but I'm not sure why he is saying it? Sour grapes, civic duty or self righteous? Any knowledge about the post or opinions? I am also including a photo of one of my books cause its pretty.- 192 replies

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
Grib replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
I'm on the fence here, my question is why? Not why people are shilling or trying to increase value but why is the seller posting this? Is it noble or a grudge? Anyone know the seller or have a thought? -

I moved up to Buffalo 34 years ago from NY, never left. Fantastic food, people and affordable lifestyle. I will be at the show and there is a bar (show food sucks but there is a bar by the entrance) so if anyone is in town lets meet on Sat around 5.

I have a few signed Stan Lee books for sale on ebay and this week I have 6 offers made on books, usually I get one every other month, has anyone else noticed the rush on Stan books? I know he has been in the news a lot but I'm asking about books selling and price going up stuff.
