I have had this for years. Thinking of getting it slabbed. I don’t think a peer would really help it but cleaning the back cover might. Really solid feeling book. I would value everyone’s opinion. Thanks in advance.

A question; how likely is it that the increased knowledge of what is restored and what is not has widened the gulf between price for restored vs non restored? I don’t think that was CGC s intent just a result of the different labels. As I understand the history of comic collecting in the 1970’s there was not the disdain for restoration that exists now. If I am wrong in this thought I would welcome other opinions as I am always willing to learn. also as others have said for almost all my books I do have a reprint/reading copy/digital file.

ComicConnect's Next Event Auction has started posting books !
ender replied to batman_fan's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I am admittedly still new to GA collecting and understand that there is some difference between what Comiccconnect may grade books at vs CGC but if someone could help with this I would appreciate it. In the upcoming auction there are 3 very low grade More Fun Comics 52 coverless, CFO and brittle and it is given a 0.2 (it does have reproduction cover and CF) 54 missing back cover and brittle and given a 1.5 and 15 that is coverless and brittle and given a 0.1 I don't understand how the complete but coverless can be graded below the coverless and missing a centerfold. I would also think the 54 would come back from cgc as a 0.5 I may be one of the few who collects books as low grade as this but to me it seems very inconsistent. If anyone has an explanation and I am wrong about this I would like to hear it, just to understand the rationale more fully. Thanks! -
Is Collectible Insurance Service a viable option for you?
ender replied to Chicago Boy's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I have insurance and one of the appealing things to me is they will cover things in the mail if they were to be lost so I don’t feel I have to pay extra for insurance through the post office. Granted I have never had a claim and was told they (CIS) would cover it by the person who was selling the policy. I also think if you have a safe you keep them in and a security system on your home you get a discount. -
Show us the worst "restoration" you've seen
ender replied to SOTIcollector's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I am pretty sure I have a spine split that was sealed in this one. I guess if you are going to make repairs with masking tape at least I can’t complain about the previous owner being stingy with it. I think they used the whole roll! -
The only double cover I have. Unfortunately the stain on the front cover is repeated on the second, but the colors are very bright on the second.

Hey I asked someone who was selling books in a thread started yesterday if they by chance might have a More Fun 54 that they wanted to sell...I think Nomad might have had a better chance than me -
Coverless, wraps or single pages in CGC holders thread

And of interest in this thread it reprints most of the Fang Gow stories for a fraction of what it would cost to buy the original comics, if you could even find them! -
Seeking a little wisdom from the board. There is a Superman 6 on HA (part of an incomplete lot) with moderate amateur resto that based on one not great pic appears to be g/vg but is incomplete. I do have the missing page. Book already has a married centerfold. What would more educated folks than me think approximate value of the completed book might be? Not really looking to flip the book but just don’t want to overpay by a ton either. Any guidance would be appreciated and if this is too far off the purpose of the thread just shoot it to me in a PM. Thanks folks!
