  1. Not being confrontational, but wouldn't gamble's fallacy be when talking about something that is purely random, such as rolling a pair of dice. With a grader who could feel pressure to give a 9.9 occasionally, or (more likely) pressure to never give it, could not that also be a variable, and one that is near impossible to calculate?
  2. I actually like married books. I would prefer all original but would rather have a book with a married cover than a coverless one. I think of married books kind of like a presentation of the comic.
  3. There is nothing about that run that is "decent". Those are hard to find and the pedigrees and grades! That is obscene! (In a good way)
  4. Color matters a lot and I think you see it in DC books of the period as well. Timely's seem to be more vibrant and consistent. I always try to look at the CGC label as well. Even on the two first examples the top one the CGC blue label seems brighter so it could be scanner/picture differences as well. Certainly the best way to compare is in hand but that sometimes isn't an option. Color is a big part of eye appeal and that to me matters as much as technical grade if it is close. 4.0-5.0 something like that. Also really pretty Man O Mars book. Congratulations.
  5. After seeing the first two books, I get the feeling when Rick says "Icons", He really means it!
  6. I remember when I used to complain that "people only collect for the cover and not the stories!" But now it seems like many collect for the number in the top left. It's their money of course to do with what they wish, but it's not for me.
  7. I think that could be really interesting. Sort of like top ten books under 10,000 and a different list for top 10 under 2000, Maybe even a list for books specifically between 50 and 10 thousand. I really desire an Action #1 but it is so far out of my range I might as well wish for a time travelling DeLorean.
  8. Just my opinion but they seem rarer than other DCs of the same time but maybe that is because the owners who have them just don't sell them so they don't change hands near as often.
  9. That's really nice and the family connection makes it even more special. Huge congrats!
  10. I don't remember if it was this inker or not but my commissioned piece by Randy Green and Andy Owens turned up on ebay once inked by another person who had pulled the raw pencils off of Randy's facebook page I believe. He was selling it as original and not disclosing that it was not the original pencils. I was not real thrilled with it but didn't think I could do anything about it. To be very clear I don't remember if it was the person in this link, they may just be inking the work for their own reasons, practice, what ever. https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1349723
  11. Yeah within the last few months. Some neat historical stuff as well as the reprints.
  12. Like many others I would go for the Catman based off of PQ and it seems to be less available than the Superman but I would gladly take either.
  13. I have really enjoyed the book although it certainly does seem to take the side of the author's grandfather, Mr. Nicholson. Only off putting thinks was some of the strips that we're reprinted are only portions of the storyline. The reason in the text was because the originals were so valuable they couldn't reprint them. That just doesn't seem right if you can wasly find reprints of Action 1. Anyone else read this? What did you think? Ideas on the lack of complete storyline reprints?
  14. Between these two I would take the Blue Beetle, but it's a tough choice. Fun idea! I hope you keep the thread going.
  15. I have a copy and if anyone is debating it is well worth the money. GLWTS!
