  1. I have never seen a 2, but I have an 8 which is still the 100 page version and it is just like you described with the pages stapled together and then affixed to the cover with adhesive. Incidentally its cover was detached as well. I think that adhesive giving up after 75 plus years may be a common occurrence. I would guess they were all bound this way, at least until they went away from the very thick cardboard covers.
  2. OK I have thought about this since this was posted and since no one was able to remove this temptation I will just give in and enjoy it!
  3. Another great transaction. Bob is a class act and always great to work with!
  4. This certainly sounds like a great story. Has it been reprinted anywhere? Comic Book Plus doesn't have any EC on their site, so I would assume it is not public domain. Any leads would be appreciated!
  5. Really nice! And I don't think I have ever seen a 24 outside of the Gerber guide. Congratulations!
  6. I am really surprised that there is only one Action Comics (unless I overlooked one) and no Adventure Comics. I would have thought both of those would have had print runs big enough that there would have been more survivors and they certainly have enough value that I would think they were worth slabbing? Anyone with ideas as to why the fewer numbers? Were folks more likely to keep the Batman and Superman issues rather than the anthology titles?
  7. OK, just how impressive is @MrBedrock collection that the Rockford and Larson copies are acutually lower in grade than the average grade for his other comics??? Holy Moley!!!
  8. Thanks for showing that and for using the word desicants! Had to go and look it up so I feel a little smarter now! Do you use them for keeping the comics at the bank or just as a general rule? Not trying to be nosy just like to read others way of preserving their treasures.
  9. There are a lot of really beautiful pieces framed on here. I am super envious. I have just gone a totally different direction. I go to Kinkos and make a color laser copy of the art for about 3.00 on cardstock, and then just frame it myself in a cheap frame. If it fades, that is fine I have the original and I just start over, although I have not experienced that to be honest. Not saying this is a better way, far from it, but it is a different path. The limitation is I don't have all the layered mats that I have seen and Honestly a lot of the pics in this thread look better. I just think that if I spent 300 or more on each could I have gotten another piece of art with that cash. Anyway just my . Really enjoyed seeing everyone's art, so Thanks!
  10. I think those might win for three most disturbing covers in a row too! As protected as kids are now it is just odd to think that we, as a society made stuff like this for them in 1953. Not saying good or bad, just a whole lot different now. Great books
  11. Thanks. I appreciate your checking
  12. I just bought a Batman 41, its pretty nice looking but missing a centerfold. If anyone has a centerfold or a coverless copy I would certainly be interested in purchasing or trading for it! Thanks.
  13. I think you get the prize for the deepest color strike on a 1.5 !! Nice puckup
  14. Are you going to get to go to Omaha? You guys are our (Texas Tech) side of the bracket again! Great season so far for both teams.
  15. Once again I had a similar experience with Bob. Fast, professional, and polite. Could not have been any happier with the comics, shipping, packaging. All first class.
  16. This is the service that is on the Metropolis website https://collectinsure.com/ When I signed up they asked more questions about my house than the comics. Asked me a dollar value of the collection as a whole and only needed to know specific books if they were over 5000. You can even set it up to increase by a certain percentage every year to account for new purchases and hopfully the comics themselves becoming more valuable over time. Full transparency, I have never had a claim on this insurance. Short answer is that I just gave them a pretty good estimate. Hope that helps.
  17. New Teen Titans was super hot in the 80's and now you can find most issues other than 1 and 2 in dollar bins. Witchblade was super hot in early 2000's. and was drawing money but now you can find most issues for a buck
  18. All the small towns (and even pretty good sized ones) in Texas still have a dump. They may restrict access to it but they are there. We used to have impromptu stock care races on the dirt roads around our dump in the little town in TX that I grew up in.
  19. congratulations to buyer and seller. I think you got a heck of a deal there
  20. That may be the creepiest cover I have ever seen! Just in case the interior is as good as the cover, I will take it!
