  1. Beat but complete, and not bad eye appeal even with the tape. I'd say it presents as a 2.0, but if you slab it the grade may be closer to 1.0. I would put it in a shiny mylar and display on my shelf. Even if you sell it raw, an individual's higher perceived grade may drive a better price than a lower assigned grade.
  2. Playing a little detective myself, here was the original listing. I count three potential flaws just on the front cover pic, easily negating a super-high grade. The buyer was obviously a little naïve to believe the grade estimate and shouldn't have left bad feedback just for the grading. That said, the seller's response was atrocious and I've blocked them. I prefer not to give business to someone who acts like that. Edit: They actually sold several like this recently, also under the name coasttocoastcomics2. Here, here, here, and here.
  3. I had a 9.9 in a cracked case reholdered with no issue. As mentioned above, just make sure the inner well isn't compromised or that the book has been damaged. I think if CGC has a reason to re-grade they will, but if everything looks intact they just assign the same grade.
  4. Bags Unlimited also has some plastic boxes I like. You can get BCW on Amazon, but it's worth grabbing a five pack instead of singles. Shipping kills it, so getting more at once makes sense.
  5. Put in a $1k offer on a book. I kind of hope it's declined hope it is accepted.
  6. Very fast shipping and well packaged, thanks!
  7. I used to travel to NC for work, and my favorite shop nearby was actually Dave's Comics in SC on the border, but I believe it's closed now. Heroes Aren't Hard to Find is a good, larger shop in Charlotte with a lot of older keys. They ask top dollar for most of them so you're unlikely to find a steal on the wall, though I've been able to buy some out of the back issue bins. They put on HeroesCon. Rebel Base is a smaller shop in a dumpy little shopping center with a lot of toys and more esoteric variety. A. Pennyworth's was a shop that was always on my list to visit, but I don't think I was ever able to.
  8. I don't know anything about the certification company, but a Google search turns up nothing but some items with this type of cert and nothing about the company itself. Usually that's a bad sign. The paper looks like something you could print on at home. I see it has an embossed seal but can't make it out. Likewise can't make out the address. Try searching the address and doing a reverse phone search on the number. From this site: Unless a certificate of authenticity originates from and is signed by either the artist who created the art, the publisher of the art (in the case of limited editions), a confirmed established dealer or agent of the artist (not a casual third party or reseller), or an acknowledged expert on the artist, that certificate is pretty much meaningless. TLDR; looks sketchy to me and I wouldn't trust it.
  9. One deal fell through, but did manage to use the coupon on another book.
  10. I use MCS for monthly subs and am satisfied with the service. Bag and board is included, securely packaged with box corner foam things, and $5 flat shipping. My only complaint is that you can order the variants like Cover B, Cover C, but not the retailer incentive 1:50 types that I know of. I guess they hold those back and sell them at market rates.
  11. I have an index lookup on a secondary worksheet that pulls titles from the main checklist into it that meet the criteria for purchase or upgrade, like Owned = No or raw grade not equal to NM. You could make this in a few ways depending on your needs, like with nested IF functions, index match, or a simple pivot table. Even easier would be to just filter your main list to what you're looking to buy and copy/paste the remaining titles into a new tab. Repeat to update when new titles are added.
  12. Excel list updated locally. Uploaded to Google Drive and converted to Google Sheets file for easy mobile use. I filter wanted issues and upgrades to a Buy List tab to make a shorter, more manageable search list.
  13. Really short window, but was able to grab one from my watch list. These discounts are getting expensive.
  14. Looks cool and seems like a good deal. 12-month GPA is $330 for a 9.6.
  15. I use these for some of my display books. https://www.bagsunlimited.com/product/7945/graded-comic-slab-protector
  16. My favorite cover from the Wolverine 1988 series. Seems really visceral and I like the elongated title text.
  17. They have a feedback form where you can enter comments when you place an order. I've suggested on there that they add the ability to submit offers on consigned books to the sellers, specifically because some are priced so high. If you want another option try suggesting they add that capability. If enough people ask maybe they'll implement it and we could have a method to negotiate with consignors.
  18. I like it more because you opened them. I much prefer to have them on display than locked in the package. DP looks cool.
  19. I have some display books in both mylar and poly and have considered both. While I do think the mylars look more crisp, they also seem more prone to scuffing and have a lot more glare. So overall I prefer poly and I get the re-sealable ones from bagsunlimited. If I purchase a book that has a good condition mylar I'll usually keep it on, otherwise I switch to poly.
  20. Just an update on contacting eBay about the VeRO program to have the other seller remove my item description. Their response is below, but basically I have to submit another form to claim infringement including an email for the other seller, which is then investigated and the other seller has the ability to file a counter claim. Seems like a big hassle and I doubt I'll pursue it. I may just change my description, or if I get really annoyed I'll contact the seller directly and try to guilt him into changing his. The Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program provides Intellectual Property rights owners with a way to report allegedly infringing content on our site. This helps us to create a safer eBay community. In order to report a listing that you believe is infringing, you must submit the Image and Text Theft Notice of Claimed Infringement (NOCI). To fill out an NOCI, please go to the following link: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html You can submit a copy of the signed and completed form to us by email to vero@ebay.com. The VeRO program doesn't process reports concerning the unauthorized use of factual text, such as technical specifications of an item or listing title. Also, eBay sellers who are reported for copyright infringement (such as the unauthorized use of image or text) may file a counter notice in response to your report pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512. Please note that VeRO reporters are required to provide an email address for reported sellers to be able to contact them about the report.
  21. Sure, I have no issue with manufacturer descriptions, I’m just referring to what I wrote myself. And I’ve had sellers copy my sold listings before, but this is the first time for an active one.
  22. They priced theirs the same price, but without best offer that mine has. Their shipping is also higher. So that’s a positive aspect that mine is slightly cheaper by comparison, but also shows that they were totally copying my listing.
