  2. Hey just hoping to get some thoughts... Got a small bend on the bottom on the left corner and theres some stress lines at the top left corner.... thanks
  3. True story... I always assumed that defect was something like a tiny hot piece of steel fell on the book and burnt completely through it. I've got a couple books with the same "Termite" holes....but to me that were so small and so perfectly through the book, I honestly just thought the owner of the book was a mechanic or worked in a shop and was cutting steel and A tiny piece flew a landed on the book and burnt a perfect little hole threw the book... buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut Your explanation of termite holes make a hell of a lot more sense anybody know if there is a limit to the highest grade a comic can get with a Termite Hole?>
  4. thank you I understand what your saying... but the reason why my question are general is because in this case...I have comics with this exact same color touch...and I mean exactly... thats why I'm asking "what would the grade be for this comic and how much would the color touch effect this comics grade" this was just a perfect example for me....this comic has nearly identical Color touch to some of my comics that I dont know how to grade... I get that I'm probably asking a question that doesnt have a definitive answer...but I just thought if someone could lock down a grade on this one...it would give me at least a starting point on some of mine... the overwhelming majority of Color touch I see is Professional and not done with Markers....This Comic looks like its was done with Markers by an amateur...so I thought it was perfect to try and get some answers on... thank you for the reply though
  5. thats great... comics can be truly special...
  6. With the restoration on this book..what do u think the grade and value is
  7. Sorry to bump an old thread...but i was wondering how much does color touch like this effect the grade? I know theres a big difference between amateur and professional restoration...this looks like amateur...looks like someone used markers... Someone said it would get a purple label...but would it be worth less because of the amateur restoration instead of professional
  8. Is AM #2 really 1800.00 dollars on The Market in VG condition?
  9. So sorry for bumping an old thread... but I've always wondered about The "Overspray" on comics... I have countless comics with this defect, I always assumed it was a manufacturing defect but I never knew IF IT EFFECTED the grade or how much? could someone explain to me exactly what The Consensus is in the Comic Book world about "Overspray"? is it an manufacturing defect? does it effect the grade? If So How much? thanks
  10. so basically they've looked at my profile and Pics and decided that tag fits? I wish they would change to "Literally The Least Experienced Collector Ever!"....because IMO I Truly believe I may be the least experience person ever that has a Large collection.
  11. thanks I got a odd question... above my profile picture whenever I reply...it says " Collector is an understatement. " as my boards title.... can that be changed? I dont remember putting that, i've looked and looked and cant figure out how to change it...other people's dont say that...
  12. true story... in 2011, My grandfather started having garage sales/flea markets every weekend in his yard... on the 3rd one, My dad and I was over helping him out and he had a table set up selling some comics, nothing good just stuff we werent interested in... But I got to looking and one box was marked "The Thing 1 to _" on the led....I looked in and it turned out to be His complete collection of BOTH Tales To Astonish and Tales To Suspense with every key issue...lol he had $2.00 a book marked on the box. I later asked him, "if someone asked you to buy the entire box, would you have even looked in to see what was in there?" He said , No, He looked before he put them out, and has no clue how he got his Tales To Astonish and Tales To Suspense box mixed up... Bottom line, someone could have bought 2 near complete sets of Tales To Astonish and Tales To Suspense for probably less than 100 dollars if they saw them. Luckily, no one knew what they were and they sat there for 3 garage sales before I finally noticed them and put them back in the collection
  13. Do you think they might also be afraid the comic wont grade as highly as they want? right now the man who owns the MH Action #1is basically universally recognized as having the greatest comic book of earth as its reported to be a 9.2. But if he did get it grade and it came back 9.0 or less, It would drastically reduce the value and he would no know longer be recognized as having the greatest book on earth... it seems this is the rare case, where NOT Grading/Slabbing a book actually adds more value to it. with the reputation that comic has, If he ever put it up for sale, I bet everyone would bid on it like its a Universal 9.2...
  14. thank you but I got to be honest.. I didnt mention any back cover concerns because I dont know exactly what to say... I'm not exactly sure how to grade soiling or stains... I was just hoping you guys with more knowledge and experience could see the pics and and judge for your self. I've never had anyone to talk to or ask question about comics before, so when it comes to grading there are certain things I'm just not sure about, But since joining this board about a month I'm gaining a treasure drove of knowledge and asking all the questions I didnt know I just dont know how to judge the Soiling and Stains, I dont know the levels of soilings, I dont know how much to take off for Soiling, and when it comes to stains, I've even more confused. theres so much different sizes a stain can be, so many different Substances A stain could...Im just lost... but yes there absolutely is soiling on the back on this comics, But I have no idea how to explain it..
  15. thank you! do have 2 more questions... what if the book is a VG 4.0 and has a detached staple? does the book stay the same grade, Is a detached staple aloud in this grade? and what if a book is a 6.0 in every way but has a detached staple....it couldnt still be a 6.0 could it? the detached staple would have to take points off but how much? for me, I understand a lot easier the higher grades, with a book like the OPs thats NM, Its much easier to figure out how much a detached staple effects it because its basically the only flaw... But when its gets to the lower and Mid grades, I dont really know... I have a few books that are 7.0's that have a detached staple and I graded them as between 3.0 and 4.0 just to be safe
  16. is there a market for these 80 Giant issues? I just ran across a ton of Superman,Batman,Detective,Action and Adventure 80 page Giants(all Silver age)...I looked them up and with each issues they jump in price....they'll be like 8 comics in a row listed as $80 and Then 80 Page Giant Jumps to $140... I dont think you can consider them KEYS...but they definitely have Price increases.. do these type of books do well on the market?
  17. thank you is there a certain number they take off for writing on the cover like mine? Is it like an automatic 1 point or half a point... or does it depend entirely on The size and amount of writing on the cover?
  18. thank you so much... I do have a question though... I was reading yesterday about the Edgar Church/Mile High collection and read what you said about how the owner of the action comics #1 wont take pictures or even have it graded... and I then read more and found out there are collectors out there that REFUSE to have their comics graded and I was just wondering if you knew if this is common or why certain collectors wont have their comics graded? do they feel theres a chance even grading them could damage the books ? do they not even want them to ever be touched? and has the owner of the Edgar Church/Mile High Action comics #1 ever gave a reason why he wont take pictures of it or have it graded? thanks
  19. Jesus, I'm not understanding the hate here... I've made clear many times I'm new to this and truly may the least experience comic collector EVER... If you could just try to understand, Hell I just found out 3 days ago I could look up comics in CGC's Consensus and find out what the highest grades are, I know this is normal to you guys but its completely new and amazing to me. I've been a collector for 12 years now, I never talked to a single person about comics other than My dad and grandfather, whom are now both gone..... I understand my questions may seem odd to you guys, but I'm in no way trying to be mean or troll... If I'm really bothering you guys, tell me and I wont post anymore...
  20. but you do agree the 85,000 K price is too high right?
  21. I was looking through Ebay and came across 2 books and I do not understand the price Difference, Is it simply 1 person is out of his mind and is asking too much or Am I missing something? Both books are CGC Signature Series Amazing Spider-Man #1's..... 1 is a 7.0 with an asking price of 35,000 1 is a 7.5 with an asking price of 85,000 surely a .5 difference doesnt equal 50,000 dollars more in this case does it? https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-1-CGC-SS-7-5-SIGNED-STAN-LEE-ASM-CREATOR-PREMIERE-ISSUE-1963-/221258804209?_trksid=p5731.m3795 ^85,000 https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-CGC-7-0-SS-STAN-LEE-1st-APP-JONAH-JAMESON-FF-APP-KEY/283190065278?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131227121020%26meid%3D543e54813c3e4002a0c9ad71e408d16d%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D221258804209%26itm%3D283190065278&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982 ^ 35,000
  22. could you try finding a pic of The 1 New Mutants #98 graded 10.0... I looked but couldnt find one thanks
  23. Hey just wanted some advice on this book... I'm pretty sure I've under graded it because I didnt know exactly how to grade "writing on The cover" This book has about 3/4 of an inch pen mark on the cover, I assumed that was a deal breaker and would heavily effect the grade but since joining this site, I've seen many comics with writing on the cover get high grades, so I truly have no clue how to grade this and any advice on the grade and how much the Pen mark effects the grade would really be appreciated ... The Pen mark is right under The Orange creatures chin on the left side thanks
