  1. In my experience, Secrets of True Love is a rare Baker and I couldn't be happier with the copy I won on ebay recently. The seller did not post very good pictures. I attribute that to the very reasonable sale price.
  2. Probably not, but I have my fingers crossed. It certainly will not present as nicely as yours. How harsh do you think CGC will be on a factory miscut?
  3. I need to add some Starman to my collection. That's a nice one!
  4. Sqeggs: did you pick up the CBCS copy on Comiclink? Highest graded copy I've seen for sale.... I should have bid higher, but I will be happy to learn that I lost to you. TLP9 is not that rare, but it IS rare in mid grade or higher. It is one of my favorite covers and I have several copies. About a year ago I submitted my best copy (at that time) for grading and it came back a 2.0. I have a newly obtained copy in Sarasota right now that I hope will validate Dukedog's prediction... we shall see.
  5. Mark does not have an art dealer. You have to catch him at a show or be REAL fast contacting him after he posts something on facebook. He keeps most of his Xenozoic interior art, so good luck getting something from the series. If you don't do shows, there are the occasional offerings via auction houses (HA, Ebay, Etc).
  6. If it's still available.... I'll take it.
  7. I think I know the seller. If so, typically overpriced, but when you need a rare book, what else can you do?!
  8. I like Van Buren's art so that Abbie an' Slatts circular is a big plus for me! Do you not consider it part of the series because of the publisher?
  9. Don't shine the lights directly into the box. The side-walls should be semi-translucent to allow diffused light into the photograph area. You could also buy a screen to put up in front of your lights or use a white board to bounce light off of. You can see in n2wdw's example photos the wall texture of the photo box because the light is hitting the object directly. Soft lighting is key, and also shooting during the daytime when there's a lot of ambient background light.
  10. That is one heck-of-a 2.5!! That mouse chew doesn't bother me a bit!
  11. That bottom staple hasn't popped? The top staple looks like it's pulling... Is that a tear at the top of the fold? Eraser under the "s" of Romances? Don't get me wrong - it's the best copy I've EVER seen (so-far). I would LOVE to trade you for my copy!
  12. Uh-oh. I've forgotten my first... I definitely know which copy I paid the most for!
  13. Do you think that one would match the 2.5? From what I see it looks about 1.8 (but a five star appearance). I'll probably send my copy on my next submission (they'll need to finish with the others currently in FL). Mine should grade 1.0, but I have gotten a qualified 0.5 before.... I'd really like to see that 2.5!!!
  14. Anyone here on the boards have the sole graded TAR45? If yes, please share an image!
  15. The entry prior to opening was problematic. Everyone lined up in "self-policed" single file lines, and then the staff came along and told everyone to push over and tighten the lines against the wall. That ruined the lines and while I gained a few hundred places in line, others were cut and lost. They need to set something up like the area in front of the ticket purchase counters. Rope the area into specific lines. The artist attendance was great. Grading companies being there was great. While meeting actors is not my thing, I did enjoy walking to the back and getting glimpses of Cary Elwes and Summer Glau. I feel there was a lack of actual comics dealers. Bunky Brothers seemed to be the only GA dealer. Everyone else had some Silver but mostly Bronze. Not really any selection of modern stuff (which is a HUGE surprise). Maybe I'm just spoiled by the internet?
  16. The girl on the far right gives me a Van Buren vibe.
  17. Okay. I guess that idea was wrong. Green labels don't make any sense to me now.
  18. I think the policy is if a non-witnessed signature book is going to grade less than 9.0 (approximate range), then they don't grade it Green. The blue means they took the "writing" into account with the grade they gave it (maybe a grade point lower?). I suppose the test would be if you can find a green label "signature" book lower than 9.0.
  19. That Stray Bullets is a steal. I paid $10 for mine nearly 10 years ago! And that Sim letter....! VERY cool.
  20. There was a printer proof of Diary Secrets 26 that sold on HA a while back. Maybe someone had the proof of DS10 and put it on that interior (and then trimmed it down to fit). The red ink bleed through makes me think it's an era cover print.
  21. You guys should all band together and do a time-share or partnership contract and complete the book.
  22. BLANK? I'd be worried its a photocopy. There are certainly a lot of St John printing errors though. I just handed 14 Bakers to CGC this weekend at the SF ComicCon. A True Love Pictorial 9 in the bunch has such a bad right edge mis-cut....
  23. You might get $200 for that Batman alone. You would need better photos to gauge condition of course. Batman books are pretty hot right now.
