I submitted this TAR25 myself. I was thinking it would be at least a 7.0 (was kinda expecting an 8.0). I guess I suck at grading.

From the notes on the paper attachment, I am guessing that Harvey had an in-house library for reference material. For swipe material? Perhaps to confirm titles already taken? One thing is for sure, they were definitely reading copies.

I bought a lot of teen humor stuff off Heritage and all copies in the lot had a staple in the upper right portion of the front cover. Some books still included the stapled attachment. These lots were all low grade (brittle paper) but were kept pretty clean otherwise. The attachment says "Harvey Publications". Here's an example:

No, this is incorrect. When humans settled on Mars they created the great canals mentioned by that pilot. Now, upon returning to Earth, they see that Earth has now gone and done the same thing, but for stupid reasons (mostly to make North America look like a big pizza).

Yep! It should be posted on page one. The man's face on Adventure 38 is not so typical of Flanagan, but the man's shirt and background plants/vegetation give it away.

Second drawing being the top center? I cropped it out of "Fu Manchu's Daughter" from Doug Ellis' posting on Comicartfans (Colliers - May 1930). I think he's working on a Flanagan book (which I will buy in a heartbeat). He's the only person I know of who owns original Flanagans - and he has several. The other two men left and right of the bottom tier are also cropped from another of Doug's postings.

I guess I'll wait until I can see what everyone else has posted before pulling and scanning mine. I really wish I could get my hands on some more of his Sandman covers.

All good things must come to an end. Here is the final issue of the short but impressive Flanagan cover run. Imagine if DC had kept the pulp artists of their initial publications to illustrate Superman and Batman covers! Detective Comics featuring Batman by the talented hand of Leo O'Mealia?! Superman by Flanagan?!! What would be your dream pairing?

Here's a scan of my recent silverfish submission. 3.0 grade. Tiny bit eaten off the spine top and a lot eaten off the bottom. Looks great in a slab though!

I just picked up one of those too! Great Hughes cover!! I absolutely love how he "blurred" the engine heat lines. Slick!
