  1. Folks if you are buying cards to hold for the future you need to do all u can to avoid trimmed cards. Do your research then decide if slabs graded by certain grading firms are worth future potential loss of entire investment. Any who advise you differentially are not being honest
  2. Moon Knight 1, Marvel Spotlight 28 have decent % drops as the low action series has slogged on but Invaders 23 will jump to mid 2 figures Today's hobby is totally screwed in the head.
  3. Agreed. PWCC will simply send in professionally trimmed cards that have "fooled industry" experts for 2 decades, until PSA invested millions into purchasing a tech company and their patents, CGC/CSG without the new tech will simply grade them, slab them and send them out. A win for everyone but those who don't want altered cards. Once day the tech will become common place, the music will stop, then all who purchased trimmed cards will be left holding a worthless CGC/CSG slab. Yeppers pretty simple. P.S. Same too go for older PSA slabs of course those who have questionable cards in terms of alteration have been leaving streaks in their shorts for over a year now
  4. Now it's sucker bet to have vintage graded by CGC. The ROI will be much higher with PSA. Remember folks the reason PWCC isn't submitting to PSA anymore is the tech that will expose trimmed and re-submitted cards. If CGC at some future date spends money to develop then implement their own alteration detection tech then I'm sure PWCC will look elsewhere. Thou who lays with Dogs will get thine-self fleas or something thereabouts.
  5. WHAT IF? #34, What Gives? Listed 12 hours ago and already up to $1577 in what may be "legit" bidding? Of course with eBay legitimate non market manipulative bidding is always on the table. https://www.ebay.com/itm/313981277478?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m43.l1120&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=69b9d3ce87374ea5bb34553f9d911257&bu=43192897304&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20220503062129&segname=11021&sojTags=ch%3Dch%2Cbu%3Dbu%2Cut%3Dut%2Cosub%3Dosub%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid Huh? Yes it is a funny comic, and was in my top 5 childhood favorites! But why on earth is it at $1500+? Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 What If? 34 (8/82, Marvel Comics) Universal 35 9.36 17 11 2 1 1 2 1 Has demand increased in some way that small supply of a zero interest issue is now way too tiny? Or a Case of 2 registry collectors that need the book? Or situation where Black Bolt attempting to sing "Satisfaction" or What If "Conan was "Bing (Crosby) Conan" is now sought after? Perhaps the truly masterful What If "White Tiger fought Wendigo in a blizzard?" page? 1st Marvel Hot Foot cover? Disclosure: I do own a copy but I simply do not get why the sudden interest?
  6. Not variants, merely "Photoshop-ed" images.
  7. "I don’t think you understand", those who are players in the Card game do understand. For collectors it's not good news for certain less than honest selling entities it actually great news, they can go back to their old and until PSA's purchase of several circa 2020 and 2021 tech patents, proven tricks. Explaining in detail will likley get me booted from this forum. PSA and net54baseball can be used for more details.
  8. Even the supreme hyperbolic speculators at gocollect no longer have much good to say about 361 Venom may be getting a sequel, but we won’t be seeing Carnage. After fans were thrilled to see him come to life on the big screen, he met an ignominious demise in Let There Be Carnage. Despite being hyped since the post-credits scene of 2018’s Venom, Cletus Kasady had his head bitten off, and the Carnage symbiote was swallowed whole at the conclusion of LTBC. Unless Sony is planning to fuse Venom and Carnage together, that looks like the end of the psychotic symbiote. It also spells the end for mega price tags for the ASM #361s you’ve been stockpiling, including the newsstand editions. There is a silver lining when it comes to all those Carnage keys, at least for collectors. As the end of his cinematic career shoos away the speculators and investors, Carnage fans can expect prices to continue to fall. If you have been waiting for the right time to get an ASM #361, be patient. To @Kronius this will probably means all 3 in 9.6 may become a break-even scenario. if you get one or more 9.4's you may be in the red add a 9.2 or lower into the mix and its "game over". I know it's not what you want to read, but ability to make a profit on your pressing and grading expenditure may have passed for what might possibly be years. It is important to note using eBay to sell you will loose 12% to fees not including Paypal fees. Short of perfectly timed dead cat bounce on 361, IMHO you really need at least 1 9.8 to make this a profitable undertaking vs your expenses and potential selling fee as these books will continue to drop during the 6 months (optimistically) they are away. Best bet might be get what you can for the books locally and raw that way no expenses to eat at the profit. Frankly if not selling raw and off fee taking sites and payment methods, at this juncture you will be to make more money and guarantee a profit + keep up w/inflation by purchasing $200-$300 in Series I bonds
  9. Not in my scope of knowledge. I stopped collecting new books before that. So I've no opinion whatsoever on any book post 2010, and almost no opinion on anything post 2000. Excluding the partial Josie photo cover in my current signature
  10. I generally do not compare artists. If i like their work I like their work. Probably puts my in the minority For a long time it was easy to collect Sal B due to prices. Glad I was able to get my Sal Hulk, Cap, Defenders and Spider-man (non ASM titles) 70's pages and splashes when I did now it might not be possible. I mean run of mill Spidey Super Story panel pages are now garnering $1600+ that's a bunch more than a Sal B Hulk p1 splash was in say 2004. Times they do change. Seriously Spidey Super Stories $1500-$2200 for panels! Some dealers used those as TP back in the day. I witnessed a deal in person 20 years ago in which the buyer picked up 50 Spidey Super Stories pages for $1000. Assuming the buyer still owns them it's 100k or more (content per page dependent) in FMV, now that's an impressive ROI.
  11. IMHO - ASM361 was a hot ASM "de jour" in 2020-2021. - The character at best is cheap jack 3rd rate Venom. - CGC graded Population for 361 are huge. Especially in 9.8 and 9.6 - The book in 9.8 commands less than half of what it did at end of 2021 - As population increases, there are plenty still in CGC queue with many more on the way, as demand continues to drop. - My GUESS is sometime this year the book in 9.8 w/White Pages settles into the $275-$350 range for the long haul. Still decent given the huge census pop and what the book cost pre COVID and Film hype The question is how much $$$ to sink into your copies before diminishing returns rules. If you do not receive 9.8's by the time you get the books back it's possible depending on the grades you won't break even? While 9.8's are common on this book the fact that you feel as self proclaimed "total noob" they require pressing is not a positive indicator that you will get 9.8's or even 9.6's. Keep in mind the median grade a new book placed out on a comic book stories shelves is 9.4. Those seeking higher like myself would carefully look at book after book and many times have to visiting multiple shops the day of releases (it was a grind I'm glad to have rid myself of). Also note that even well seasoned self-graders are wrong about potential 9.8's usually to the tune of 1-3 per every 10 comics they submit. Unless you are experienced in self-grading and are reasonably sure you will receive 9.8's, from a fiscal aspect may be best to forgo pressing and grading. If you have personal connection to these books and are looking to keep them for nostalgia then by all mean do press and grade. One last thing to consider is for the money you will spend getting 3 copies pressed and graded plus ancillary costs like shipping and submission form fee, you might very well be able to purchase a 9.8 of 361 at some point in the next 12 months for close to the same money as you press+grading expenses. From the financial standpoint that may be the most wise choice. Top 2 All-Time CGC Census Population Marvel Books! The 9.8 and 9.6 #'sand Average Grade score of 361 are staggeringly high and growing every new census posting. Demand however is not. Book Total Submissions CGC 10.0 CGC 9.9 CGC 9.8 CGC 9.6 CGC 9.4 All Others Average Grade* 1. Amazing Spider-Man 300 (1988, Marvel Comics) Origin & 1st full appearance of Venom (Eddie Brock). 12. Agreed Nitpick: Art is highly and entirely subjective opinion "better" is word I do not feel fits in the context. "Different" or "other" are words that I I might have used? There are well regarded artists who's work I do not like and artist who are thought of as lesser talents who's art i enjoy very much. There is no wrong or right with art it's all entirely opinion.
  13. Partly because population is low, flippers and speculators dont have any.to hawk As a whole the current hobby is one that is manipulated.
  14. I may be wrong but I seem to recall a conversation after the first Cap Movie in which it was determined that Peggy Carter's first cover appearance was Captain America 232. It lacks the high population #'s speculators and flippers require therefore it may not get a whole lotta love. Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. 15. Gordon is the ONLY good and safe way to go! IMHO however leave the pages the way they are.
  16. Or Pizzazz #1, I did learn a good lesson from that!
  17. Appears Gary "Scissor Hands" Moser will have plenty of fresh work. https://www.sportscardradio.com/gary-moser-pwcc-marketplace-card-trimming-shill-bidding-scam/ While PWCC does have a small cadre of defenders (usually those in league) they are dwarfed by those that have an ultra negative opinion. As a result this partnership will keep many Sports Cards high rollers far away from CGC slabs. Perhaps those were not the customers CGC sought? I'm a pre-1980 card collector and had been considering picking up CGC cards in hopes they would challenge PSA one day. Now I will never, ever, never, ever, consider purchasing a single one of their Graded Cards. I wonder if with this announcement there is now dancing in the halls over at PSA? This cements CGC from ever challenging PSA's cachet.
  18. My introduction to Flash Gordon was the 1980's Film, Classic but Cheese As mentioned above the Williamson work was excellent! The story's IMHO were very simplistic even in their own day. General Kala, Flash Gordon approaching What do you mean Flash Gordon approaching? Open fire - all weapons Despatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body Gordon's alive! live live live
  19. IMHO show needed more episodes or less on the character development. The former is my choice. In pretty much a first for the Disney+ Marvel TV shows, the key books are dropping value in reported sales rather than increasing while the show is on-air. The Moon Knight property be coolin'. Those who purchased at the highs may take big losses. Of course the smart never purchase at going rate when red-hot.
