  1. Given that it was a donation coupled with the donor wishes to remain anonymous rules out every single Original Comic Art Dealer and OCA Collector I've ever personally met. Whoever it was is a true philanthropist
  2. Thanks. They measure much smaller in all dimensions. I will submit them as Comics.
  3. One of the most difficult Marvel H-B's to find in high grade and I'm not sure why?
  4. HI, Mid 1960's TV Guides. These are thin and stapled, not the later thicker square-bound. I've seen them encased only in Comic Sized slabs, as the are virtually same size of 1970s/1980's DC digests. Are they submitted as Comics or Magazines? Thanks.
  5. CGC is also giving Blue Labels to previews pages ripped out of 1980's DC Books. Like "Master of Universe" preview. Those are more than 50% incomplete + coverless books and should NOT receive a grade nor a Blue Label! Books CGC Label CGC Total Avg. Grade 10 9.9 9.8 9.6 9.4 9.2 9.0 8.5 8.0 7.5 7.0 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 3.0 2.5 2.0 1.8 1.5 1.0 0.5 Masters of the Universe Promotional Supplement nn (11/82, D.C. Comics) "Fate is the Killer". Distributed as promotional insert in DC Comics from 1982 Universal 266 9.76 242 9 8 4 2 1 It was not an insert it was part of the book even if from a non story perspective. The only way to remove it woudl be to rip away the rest of the book. Thus it's an incomplete book by CGC very definition how can it get a Blue Label? https://www.cgccomics.com/grading/labels/ No Grade NG – This label stands for "No Grade" and is assigned to comics that are either missing the entire cover, or one half or more of the interior pages, or both. It may also be assigned to comics that are only being verified as authentic, per CGC's discretion. Here is an example of the complete book with cover blurb. (CPV variant BTW although CGC failed to note that even though I filled out submission form correctly) Is this what the future hobby will be; chopping up comics like stolen car's and selling them for parts all with CGC's blessing?
  6. Recently I was going through the box that contains my Joe slabs when after all these years it dawned on me that #2 Marvel is the first Snake Eyes cover. I don't recall seeing that noted anywhere in past.
  7. Imagine if CBCS had done this then bragged about it on their websites homepage
  8. That's for storing and processing Trading Cards from eBay for authentication. Since they could not announce the deal with eBay, until an agreed upon date,it in effect served as nice misdirect to CGC's advantage Myself I don't believe there was any extra staff actually hired to grade comics. If they had done so they would have likley have bragged about it.
  9. Would be nice if Dell Giant 48 (aka Flintstones #1) had even 1/4 of the interest as GK Scooby 1. I picked up this raw from JHV at a con in the late 90's. I was one of the first graded by CGC and for short time the only 9.6 with none higher. Still have the reading copy I found 10 years prior as a kid in my LCS' 4/$1 bins. Love how they are drawn like they looked in the first season of the show.
  10. How is Star Wars #1 not a real first appearance? 1st comics app and it was on-sale prior to the film's release. Seem as "real" as any fictional characters first app to me. At least with SW1 you can see the difference in the slab, for Sandman 1 isn't it sort of hoping it wasn't a label error? Rare but those things do happen. It is THE Gaiman Sandman book to own and has been in demand for decades. What does surprise me very much is it was very light (4 total) biding.
  11. The Auction Houses know exactly that and they how difficult it is to make a case against them as a result.
  12. Any thinking of buying Groo "keys" at current prices your wallet may thank you for holding off as the spike continues downward. 'sides only a mendicant buys high.
  13. Some info on the 1984 Groo Special from one of the horses mouths; https://www.newsfromme.com/2022/03/15/ask-me-more-groo-history/
  14. See this scam a lot with trading cards. Pic's are almost certainly from a past auction. You will not be receiving the book as they never had one to start with. You were smart reacting very fast.
  15. Will do. I already have the UHD "set", finding the hours to watch it is not so simple...
  16. Not as of yet. The character on film with those currently attached is seen as a loser by gen pop and not in Peter Parker type of way. At this point not even Tom Holland could save The Flash on film as he's currently written. Again Warner should have cut bait half a decade ago.
  17. Seriously that type of banal shtick normally reserved for a loser minor character is going to carry a Superhero Motion Picture??? Especially given there is an excellent portrayal of the Character on TV....
  18. Huge Flash fan, but don't like how he's portrayed thus far on the big screen. Neither the writing nor the actor benefits the Character. As for TV right from the first appearance on Arrow I knew Barry/Flash portrayal was being done right. I just don't see what many (most?) consider a lesser Flash portray having any success in Film with the writers and actor currently attached. "I've just pushed some people and run away" seriously is that camp drivel people want to spend their hard earned money on to see in in a Superhero Motion Picture? Doubtful that it is. IMHO Warner should have cut bait years ago!
  19. If one is purchasing a book in person there are good bargains to be had with CBCS slabs. Still one of the original intents of slabbing was to bring confidence to internet sales, as most know you can only tell so much from a scan compared to holding the graded book slab in hand. I've seen many CGC 9.8 slabs which the books inside are at best 9.6 on a good day, but for me personally I see that even more with CBCS 9.8's. The experiences of others may differ but I know what mine personally has been and I'm consistently more disappointed with CBCS. For those who seek to resell books in short or mid-term it's understandable to want CGC, it's also understandable with current TAT's that to get a good deal on CBCS then crack it and submit to CGC currently is not optimal. Consumer or buyers whether Collector's or Seller's benefit from strong competition in the grading arena. We should want both company's to have equal perception in the market place. However perceptions formed for these type things once they take hold are difficult to change. In some cases they may never be possible to do so. In my opinion out of the gate CBCS needed to be so much stricter than CGC that to have their label would be a badge of honor and they were not. The perception of CBCS being the more lenient graders has permeated the hobby. CBCS to me it appears lost the verdict of hobby opinion years back. Bottom line, buy the book not the slab label. Still if that can't be done in person CGC is currently the safest way to keep one's "investment" stable. Not saying that is good or bad, it just is the situation in the hobby. As for reputable, we're talking many shades of gray for both firms. Appears there are no boy-scouts in comic book (nor trading card) grading
  20. The first new comic as child I ever purchased multiple copies was ASM252. 1 week later the 2nd book for which I did that for was on-sale at my LCS. Just got them back from CGC When I pulled these last August I had not been in my 1980's Peter Parker Long Box in probably 20 years. It surprised me that I had these 2 books in Mylites but without boards. I never used a Mylite without a board but yet here were 2 next to each other, weird...My heart sank a bit until I saw that due to every other book having a boards these stayed nice and flat. The dark background on the front and back covers makes this issue a bit more of a challenge in 9.8 than one would think of book that hit comics stores in Late Feb/Early March 1984 This issue was in effect the first Black Cat solo story as Spider-Man appeared only on the last page. Great corner box! I know there are some people on this forum who have rather uncalled for nasty things to say about the cover artist's work but I very much like this one.
  21. The 90's Marvel Mighty Mouse was excellent! Myself I'm partial to the Perez cover in which he swipes his own Crisis 7 cover. Wish that series had lasted longer but guess it just wasn't the era for fun comics.
