This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!
MAY1979 replied to TupennyConan's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
finally back recently after 12 months! I've seen many worse looking 9.6 than this well presenting 9.4. I really think i got the harshest CGC grader this time. In the early 90's the book was going for $100 raw in NM which was way more than I had in those days so I waited. After the 1993/1994 Comics Market Crash I picked this up in Jan 1995 for $20 at a Sports Card Show. -
I do not want to belong to any club that would accept me for a member - Groucho Marx 1949. But here we go Have been told I'm a very strict if not outright harsh grader and I thought I had a 9.2 on this one... At least I got the WP's A $60 1997 "Church Show" purchase from Harley. Finally back this month from CGC

^ I think 1 or 2 graders recently in bad lighting or have let their power go to their heads. Thus on resubmit other graders give the book what it deserves. On a copper book from what ive seen ow/w is a 25% hit on value That said #8 is somewhat condition sensitive. Any minor color loss will not be a 9.8 and the back of that book is highly subject to rubs

Who decided the years for copper age?

Agreed but that becomes a trite and vile cliche for good reason to those who may not make their rising rent or who are down to only instant ramen being their primary dietary component. In the 90s I worked for a firm who stated there was more about working than the money as an excuse for a tiny contract increase. 3 weeks later i was an employee at new firm where i was happy and well compensated. I just got the "gold watch" for my 25th year. However the happiness did fade 18 years back, but the income did not and allowed me to buy a ton of OA and other stuff over the years. Life aint anywhere near perfect but not having to worry about having the dough to pay taxes on my mortgage free home nor worry about my next meal is priceless. like it or not the benjamins are the most important factor for most workers.

Resubmitting the Same Book?

Check for any color loss due to rubs on front and back. CGC has become very harsh on those especially on Copper and Modern. -
Superman is the lamest most boring superhero ever

Supes inspired a genre! Marvels Black Cat is at most a lame cheap jack Catwoman rip off. Its Oct so figured I'd get one Black Cat truth shot in before Halloween month ended -
Well of course front covers get all the attention but back cover Ad's to some may hold great memories.. Lets show back covers a bit o'love.

Back to me 57 weeks after I shipped it to CGC - not sure if that deserves a smiley or frown? It's in an extra double thick slab. By my estimate only 1/5 Oakland's have White Pages. This is now one of them. -

This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!
MAY1979 replied to TupennyConan's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
On a separate submission that popped this week, I had 3 more Invaders from the same collection. All purchased at same time in the late 90's at a con from Showcase New England. All had same page Whiteness measured with my eyes and strip compares. The 3 that just popped were given W (9.8) . I do wonder if some graders were in an area that had lighting issues for a week or 2 or perhaps one grader has an optical deficiency (we are all human after all) or simply one real hard-a** I'll post the #2 and #8 from that sub eventuality after I get them back. -
Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???

Along with She-Hulk 1 , Moon Knight 1 is approaching those numbers. ASM 361, X-Men 1 and 4 1991 will soon start to dip their toes into the under $100 waters and once McFaralane Signature event deadlines are reached expect Spawn 1 to sink like a brick dropped into the sea Unless the same rubes want to get fooled again with Eternals #1 expect that to fall to near 2019 levels. Bottom line there will be many previously hot books that drop below the per-pandemic levels and many that won't. Predicting the final bottom is not likley except by luck but it's going to get much, much, worse before it gets better. The last bust had ramifications for nearly 3 decades. Even if this bubble burst takes half the time that is still a 10+ situation for the market as a whole. As I've said before if you have true business acumen you don't need a bubble to do good or well, those who are lacking will be weeded out. As always my post does not refer or allude to Silver/Atomic/Gold - think I'll add that to my sig -
The creative overhaul has reportedly nothing to do with the recent news that James Gunn and Peter Safran will co-lead DC Studios as the duo does not start their new jobs until Nov. 1. So expect another overhaul then another and repeat until the end o'time

CGC registry point chart , not pop census The amount of points one gets for qualified is nothing more than incentive to send in book that normally might not be. Of course the primary purpose of the registry is to create revenue via submissions in the first place.
