  1. adamstrange coined the terms Tomato Red and Rose Coral for this cover. I believe this 6.5 is surely a Tomato Red. Another Tomato Red 6.5 sold a few days before last Halloween on Heritage for 15,600, and it wasn't nearly as Tomato Red as this Bobby Blue Tomato Red copy. Recently someone was so desperate to own one they paid quite a lot for an A-1 6.0 Rose Coral copy.
  2. The name was elko-company, but I highly doubt they were in on it. I see this all the time, there is always a Contact 12 6.5 in the lot. Someone is highjacking peoples e bay accounts and posting expensive books in auction format of books that were sold on e bay in the past, using the same photos as the original auction. I have no idea why. I guess now a book that I own is in the lot. The scammers seem to do it to accounts that have thousands of things for sale so I guess they won't notice a handful of comics listed for auction on their account. If you report it as fraud I guess the real account owner is notified. The whole thing is weird.
  3. 37,000 feedbacks at 99.9%, 21,000 items for sale currently, and has only sold 12 things in the past 3 months. I think he was hijacked but I have no clue as to how doing that to someones account can be of any use unless the scammer has access to the person bank account as well. It was an easy catch because I own the only 8.0 restored Action Comics 8 and it's at cgc right now. Mr. Nelson screened it himself so I know it's been already cracked out of that case. Interesting thing also is before I won it on Heritage in April it was sold on e bay a year to the day., 7/22/23 , using the same pictures also.
  4. A heads up , this person is selling a book I own. It's not even in a cbcs case anymore. I think all his comics are fraudulent. https://www.ebay.com/itm/256152005175?hash=item3ba3d96a37:g:4xgAAOSwmjJimspI&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4KZsOkuViQJYLYdobm82rrXUAlt6TIwGasd6PbzE04L1hlJY8jXp2C0RmEzQ4jYOODiDPkkRSfqfBBrquYf6hppsSUa6V6a9vJlD3e2IWW3gr98XMJ9iVlQBDSCGC48XSdMXuybaBcOA%2F17sQ8Nvpl9PUt%2BvUNZmAZRjjircuXsjywa34AnIycPe0651wlIe2EDZHxUN53dMI7y8S2vwgapzGmaqgGkvlMdtz%2FdI16WRGtQVZ0VjPR9zMLTqEoLkwXnE3QTLWNxKVgIZdGzTPZ70B28q0%2F%2F7qhq8kwk5aYQ3|tkp%3ABk9SR9rWrImwYg
  5. Oh! I'm a little surprised considered the killer stuff you've showed the gang here. Thanks I will enjoy. I'm actually enjoying it at this very moment.
  6. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/auctionschedule.asp#Past Auction Results I didn't see the Spectre.
  7. I guess most of the L.B. books in the pre code auction a few days ago sold about where expected.......but this one really went high. The other 7.0 sold for 2,880.00 a year ago.
  8. Hmm, What do you think it would grade? Around 3.0? I wonder if it would be beneficial to replace the staples and get it graded conserved. Probably at least an 8 to 10K book if graded by cgc.
  9. That's a nice Romance cover. Hard to tell, some go high, some go low. They're tough to predict. I got this in the mail today. Thought it went a little cheap.
  10. I don't know Robin, seems like a weird place to grab someone during a fight.
  11. Good example. I've wondered about Fiction House, late 30's, early 40's. Why so many look faded so much more than other publishers of the time. For example you see Fox books from the same years in poor condition but most still have strong colors. I wonder if it's the paper stock or ink they used. I have no idea but there must be a scientific reason for it. Science!
  12. You guys have a lot more experience seeing them in hand than I do. Pictures as we know can be deceiving. Like Heritage pics almost always look so vivid. I recently upgraded a Blue Bolt Weird 117 from a 4.0 to 6.0 and yeah the colors on the 6.0 are much more popping. I suppose it's natural for a higher graded copy to have stronger colors, but looking at past sales Startling Terror Tales 13 I see some of the lower graded ones have really nice color and lots of higher graded don't. At least in the pics. STT 11? Some look to have a seriously deep red background. Those are just awesome. Bulls Eye 11 has that similar solid red. I wonder, I don't know if CGC even considers cover color quality when grading. I can't recall ever seeing it mentioned in any notes. I would think a grader would consider it even if it's not "officially" a factor.
  13. I got another in the mail yesterday. Pretty sweet colors for a 3.5 I think.
  14. I never really looked at that cover with very much "intensity" until now. Yeah it's actually really good. The blood dripping hand, guy face down in a pool of blood, the green dude. And the black and red contrast. Even the font of the letters is cool. I also love where he signed it.
  15. Oh! That's what I said. That's a nice one. Yes having a Startling Terror 11 without a Suspense 8 is like having just one of the two Mask Comics. It's nice but it's like having cookies and no milk. I have neither one so..........yeah
  16. Holy cow I've never seen this. Bizarre cover. And that top hat, so shiny! Thanks. I'm thinking at this point pretty much every Blue label that comes around there's gonna be at least one person who's gonna just keep on bidding and not quit for nothing. I figured it was now or never with this one.
  17. Hi everyone. Ok honest opinions please, how did I do on this? Normally I wouldn't go for a restored book from the 50's but I made an exception because it's an A-1 and it looks nice, but also Blue labels of this book ain't cheap. Also it's the highest graded restored copy on the pop. Looking at past sales of purples I see a 4.0 C-1 for 2,472 a year and a half ago. This book went for 502.00 in 2015. . Well here are the past sales and the book. 6.5 slightly miscut Blue for 15,600 a few months back and there are 15 higher graded. I figure a 6.0 Blue right now would come pretty close to that or possibly surpass it.
  18. Thrilling Comics 21 - 950.00. 2nd of the 5 American Crusader covers.
  19. Famous Funnies 4 - 950.00 I'll add that this is the 2nd comic book appearance of Buck Rogers, and if that little guy with the silver helm in the lower right corner is Buck, which I believe it is, then this is the 1st cover appearance of Buck Rogers. Wow!

  21. Jeez, she really belted him. Good luck with your sales.
  22. Yes. The Graduate did, well I'll say pay homage to Girl Shy with that scene. The yootoob channel that clip came from is called Rocking Silents. The guy puts great music to silent films. Does a really great job with the song selection and the timing for each scene. I watched Wings -1927 with Clara Bow and Jobyna a little while back and realized I really like silent movies, and that I may be in love with a woman who died a year before I was born. I'm going to "collect" watcing every Harold Lloyd silent in order starting today. https://www.youtube.com/@rockingsilents9875/playlists
  23. Girl Shy was a great picture. Like Yorick said Harold LLoyd was an incredible stuntman. Also in that movie was an actress he paired with many times named Jobyna Ralston who was just beautiful. Here is the ending of the movie where he shows just how good he was. Filmed in Los Angeles, Hollywood Blvd I believe. I like this kind of stuff.
