Interrrresting. It's still on the CL exchange. Wouldn't be enough time for the high bidder not to pay. It was listed on CL the same day as sold on e bay. Now why would someone sell a book on e bay then list the same book somewhere else for double the same day? Hmmmmm. Could it be if someone offers more than 3,550 on CL in the next few days that it will suddenly become lost or stolen? No, no one would do that.

Nice puns . Well those were apparently just way overbid the first time. I did some checking, this is the first non hero book over 90k to re-appear after their intitial sales in 2021. The others being Phantom Lady 17 9.6 456k, " " 23 9.4 108k, " " 14 9.6 90k, Startling 49 9.6 132k. Suspense 11 9.8 132k, and Eerie 1 9.2 90k. I don't think any of those would reach the mark of their original sale at this time. Mask 1 as we all know is one of the most desired book there is, so yeah it wil be interesting to see how close it comes or maybe even surpass the other sale. I think it might.

What a beautiful book(). And a nice copy compared to most I've seen btw. What do you think was going through his head (pun intended) when he created that cover? Maybe just trying to be as far out there as can be or maybe there is a connection between the deceased and the drooling human headed insect creature. Maybe like The Fly there is a human with insect head out there somewhere. Help me, help me........figure it out. Bernard lived for over 40 years after he made this, he must have been asked many times what the heck is going on. Creepy stuff.

This man Terry Hoknes did a real nice job on a series called Comic Book History. Not sure if he's a member or if anyone here might know him. I'll post only part 3 because that starts with Famous Funnies 1934. He shows a lot of books and interior pages and talks about the people who created all this good stuff. It's slow but pretty thorough.

That's exactly right. What's it like 5 or 6 seconds from the prior bid before the auction closes? In those few short seconds the bidder must decide whether to bid or bail while watching a red countdown timer. I agree the people buying these things are low key no matter where their money came from. And their are a lot of "tech guys" who are very rich but not well known, at least in the shoved in our faces everywhere we look sense of the word. Could be anyone, or anyone with a 9 or 10 figure bank account.

I read Ol' Matt used to keep a huge inventory of photos and art from magazines he would use as let's say inspiration. The girl on Cinderella is a dead ringer for the girl in this magazine: Liberty Magazine Jan.1947. Which came out around the time when the un-named actress above was one of the biggest Hollywoood Starlets in the biz. Yep. 3,180,000. I'm guesing sales tax couldn't be evaded so about another 200,000. It cost about 3.4 million the first time. The article says Goldin sold it again for 3.4 million which I don't even remember., if taxed thats about 3.65 million. So I guess the first buyer dished out all that dough just to make Goldin some money a few months later. Now sold for 3.55 minus commission, no profit there again. I don't know what's going on. Why do these people even bid it up and buy it in the first place if they're just gonna sell it a few months later at a loss.

Wow. Weird Jungle Tales. Interesting. From 1953. Terrors of the Jungle has a "Weird" numbering sequence. From what I see by date it was issues 17,18,19,20,21. Follwed by issue 4 to 10 ending in August 1954. No idea why they called this CP issue 202. Maybe they were thinking of changing the name of the title between issue 21 (Feb 53) and issue 4 (April 53). Pretty neat cover regardless.

That is not good. I just sent the cbcs 3.0 Mystery Men 10 Cream to off White to CGC on the 15 day tier. If it comes back SB I will be devastated, well at least pretty bummed. Funny because with Silver books White pages are much more common these days from what I see. Thanks for sharing that observation. Good insight. And I should have included the notes, didn't think of it. It's not a ton of money so no big deal if I just keep it for a while. I would still sell for at least what I paid for it.
