  1. It's called getting your book "Reholdered". You send the book in the slab and CGC replaces the cracked slab with a new one. Your book will retain the same grade unless the crack/damage is significant enough that it might warrant a re-grade. It's important that the book stays in the slab and that you don't try to remove it. As soon as you remove the book from the outer shell, it loses its grade, which would be especially bad on a Signature Series book. https://www.cgccomics.com/signature-series/
  2. My biggest fear is putting an offer in and then not having it accepted until after the offer expires. Like I wish we could set limits on when offers are valid.
  3. . I was eyeing an IH 180 cgc 8.5.
  4. Gah, I can't decide what's worth buying >_<
  5. What's wrong with this cover? The simplicity of it enhances the serious nature of the story that lies within. (Similar to the all black cover of ASMv2 #36). The last few pages are some of my favorite Spidey moments.
  6. From your profile picture I would have figured it would have been... 1. Lego Batman Movie 2. Lego Batman Movie 3. Lego Batman Movie 4. Lego Batman Movie 5. Lego Batman Movie 6. Lego Batman Movie 7. Lego Batman Movie 8. Lego Batman Movie 9. Lego Batman Movie 10. Lego Batman Movie Honorable Mention: Lego Batman Movie
  7. flapjacks? I thought you Canucks use maple syrup as currency. Leave the flapping and jacking to us. (Wait...that came out wrong...)
  8. Take this with a grain of salt since it's an extremely insignificant sample size, but from my personal experience speaking with my co-workers, there are a number of people interested in watching Black Panther. I asked "Why?" because they don't watch superhero films and the response is "I'm curious to see what all the hype is about." I will then later mention how excited I am for Infinity War and again, the unanimous response is "what's that?" I guess what I'm saying is my co-workers want to see what the socio-political conversation is as it relates to the movie, plus the hype that this movie is a cultural phenomenon is driving them to theaters. Infinity War will be hyped, but as an action movie. Not for any cultural significance. And as such, they have less motivation to go watch in the theaters. Some will watch on Netflix, but that's a different set of figures that doesn't factor into the worldwide box office that is so easily digested by media and consumers as a measure of success. I agree with @paperheart that Infinity War will play better in overseas markets and would estimate a $450M - $500M domestic gross and a 35%/65% US/WW split. (This is opposed to Black Panther which currently looks on pace for a 50/50 split. Also note, that all but 3 previous MCU movies had higher international hauls than domestic with Iron Man 1+2 and Hulk being the 3 outliers). (EDIT: I do accept that there will be some new fans to the MCU as a result of Black Panther, but I don't think it'll drive up Infinity Wars numbers in any significant way. I think any significant increase will be because it's the culmination (or part 1) of something 10 years in the making as well as people who watch multiple times. I for one am already planning on watching it twice (which is something I rarely do) assuming it's as good as advertised.)
  9. I'm inclined to agree. I think there's a large swath of people who normally don't watch MCU films, but whether due to hype, ethnicity, or what not, came out in numbers to support Black Panther. They didn't watch what came before it and they probably don't care what will come after it.
  10. If that's the case, it's a truly stupid reason made by the marketplace. Print run has no logical bearing on the derivation of a 1st appearance. It should be driven by A) release date, B) story. I really wish the publishers were responsible for deciding official 1st appearances. It would save a lot of trouble with situations like this and Red Goblin.
  11. In my opinion ads don't count since they're not a part of the story so I'll ignore Casting #1. TT12 and Metal #2 came out on the same day as you mentioned. In my opinion since the events in Metal #2 occur before those of TT12, I feel as though Metal #2 should be the first appearance. The fact that Snyder says it's so adds more evidence as far as i'm concerned. I mean, who is to argue with the guy that thought up the story? That being said, the market appears to have settled on TT12 being the first appearance for some inexplicable reason.
  12. Personally, regarding the issue of forced diversity, I think A) fans don't like change and B) they're using diversity as an excuse when really it's just poor storytelling. I mean, look at Thor and Miles Morales as examples. Changes to the classic white/male formula but are backed with solid storytelling. The end result is that asides from a few people complaining, most people are okay with the change. I for one have really enjoyed exploring the story of a woman grappling with her impending death while still possessing the power of a god. Then you get Riri and whomever else and I think a lot of the blame is due to poor writing. I guess that's where the "forced" part comes into play (as in forcing the writers in a certain direction as well as forcing the readers to read drek).
  13. I think we all knew #1's were returning at some point, but like you, I was expecting Legacy to last longer. At the very least, I would have expected the stories teased in Legacy #1 would play out over the next few years, similar to how the events of Rebirth are still being told bit by bit. "Fresh Start" feels like a very sudden stop and pivot...like something's gone wrong and you're quickly trying to change the story/rhetoric.
  14. One of my shops had stacks upon stacks of them. Then I walked up to the register to pay and found another stack there.
  15. Are we talking "superhero" or "comic book movie"? Because I'm not sure how we've gone 2 pages without anyone mentioning V For Vendetta. 1) The Dark Knight 2) Spider-Man 2 3) V For Vendetta 4) Logan 5a) Captain America: Civil War 5b) Captain America: Winter Soldier
  16. I think the fact that X-Men 2 is the best of the X franchise and was followed by the atrocity that was X3 and that Days of Future Past basically retcons everything so that X3 doesn't exist is really all the justification I need.
  17. You mean Norman Osborn right? Personally, I agree that in issues #795 and #796, we see Norman Osborn as Carnage. He doesn't appear in his Green Goblin costume, nor does he even have access to those powers/psyche for much of those issues due to the nanites. Thus, to date there has not been a 1st appearance of the Red Goblin to speak of imo.
  18. Back in my day... Just kidding. But in all seriousness, I remember when Titanic crossed the $1B mark, there was so much media attention about how much money it was making. It just really puts into perspective how wildly successful Gone With The Wind was. It makes me wonder what Gone With The Wind's adjusted worldwide gross would be. I'm guessing the worldwide haul was small because of the absence of a large international market the way we have today.
  19. Wow. I never realized Gone With the Wind had an adjusted domestic gross of nearly $2B(!!!) That is an astronomical figure. I understand that the shelf life of movies in theaters back then was much MUCH longer, but the number of screens it must have shown on also had to be much MUCH lower (especially when you take into account that it's like a 3-4 hour movie which reduces the number of daily showings). Plus there was that whole Great Depression thing where you would think people would prioritize needs over entertainment.
  20. I thought 801 was Slott's last issue and that the series would then go back to #1 for the "Fresh Start" relaunch.
  21. I don't think it's as much Cebulski's fault as it is Quesada and Brevoort. You can't blame Cebulski for coming in and wanting to do things fresh his way. Just an excuse for them to space out milestones every 12-13 months so they can celebrate "Milestone 25th issue" and then follow it up with "500th issue anniversary spectacular!" All while simultaneously charging us $8.99 for these giant sized issues that have maybe 30 pages of story and then 20 pages of a back up story we don't care about. Or worst, a flashback/origin re-telling that we've seen/heard/read a dozen times before.
