  1. It sounds very British. Like they've gentrified it someway and are sticking their noses up in the air when they say it. "Honey, that Silver Surfer is fighting that Thawww-nose character again. What a drab fight this will turn out to be."
  2. I'd like a Topher Grace cameo please and thank you.
  3. I'm confused about how you've broken that out. Tha (like ant)? Tha (like thaw)? Tha (like flay)? Nos (like nose)? Nos (like the thing that makes your car go faster pronounced 'nawse')?
  4. I think it's technically a correct pronunciation, it's just far from the most popular/prevalent one. It's a simple thing, but it's jarring and eye rolling enough to give me pause and pull me out of the trailer.
  5. How do I pronounce the dot? Is it like a click? Do I add emphasis to denote that I'm finishing a sentence?
  6. They're undervalued, shouldn't people be paying 125% of your asking price then?
  7. I sent in two foil modern books that i figured were solid 9.6's and they came back 9.8 after a press. So I'm a believer. But I guess it's just luck of the draw really.
  8. +1. I purchased a slabbed Jock cover and Jim Lee cover A as a reader copy. Also, when is someone starting an ASM #800 variant thread because it seems like they've released a bunch of variants in the last few days. Half kidding.
  9. Picked up my books from my LCS and noted no copies of Oblivion Song #2 were left. I also noted that there were tons of copies of Oblivion Song #1 when it first came out which were also noticeably absent. I guess not many people picked up the book at my shop so they reduced their orders for the 2nd issue. Anyone have similar experiences at their shops?
  10. And that is why he charges ludicrous amounts of money for his original art now.
  11. Amazing Fantasy #15 Amazing Spider-Man #1 (vol. 1) Jim Lee Original Art - commission (preferably Batman and Catwoman) Jim Lee Original Art - comic page (preferably Hush) Infinity #4 Original Art - comic pages (the scene where Thor takes out the Builder)
  12. Considering the book has no value, I would say it's not worth slabbing.
  13. I'm a little astonished that there aren't any variant covers that had strict print runs of 1000. It would have made so much sense for the 1000th issue.
  14. Midtown sold out of the Jim Lee Tour variant for the time being.
  15. @James J Johnson did you add him to this thread? Also, for what it's worth I reported his items to eBay (not that I expect them to do anything about it).
  16. I guess at that point the difference is waiting 10 months to get your books back (had your books been properly dropped off in April) instead of a year. Still an egregious amount of time, and again, I would be more concerned about the extra 8-10 months that my book was sitting in Sarasota without any updates or notifications being provided to you, the customer.
  17. Maybe it's a matter of perspective (considering how long some people have had to wait), but waiting 1.5 to 2 months for your book to be sent in certainly pales in comparison to the fact that the book is sitting at CGC for even longer than that because of unpaid bills. That's probably where I would focus my attention. Paradise last posted when this thread was in the single digits. It's highly doubtful that they would waste their time reading any additional commentary as it's all negative and doesn't benefit them in any way (since they probably don't care about learning from their mistakes). Granted, I see their last login was 4/2 so they do still come to the boards to look at something
  18. Why is this the first time I'm seeing this? I mean, the fact that CGC hasn't received payment yet is pretty much the smoking gun isn't it?
  19. From all the facilitator posts in the Signature Room, it seems like May. I recall seeing book receipt deadlines for early May.
  20. I think the questions about capital came about earlier in the thread when people took separate anecdotes and basically postulated a theory that a lack of funds could be the issue. This comes from one comment about using money to remodel the store/website, plus another comment about an employee at a convention getting made when confronted and saying something like "this is our jobs at stake here." From there, the theory became that money earmarked for CGC was instead used to complete the store remodel, thus leading to this pyramid scheme model. And then the context of the employees remark was basically viewed as "if consumers make a stink, then they'll lose business, money, and go out of business." To be fair though, (and I've never operated a comic book store), but with all the unsold comics I always see on shelves, I do wonder how some stores stay in business so I would guess that to say they aren't walking a fine line financially might not be too far out of the question.
