  1. It should also be mentioned that the only reason why it was bumped down to #2 was because the #1 album sold was a Bon Jovi album that was a free giveaway with ticket sales for his upcoming tour. If not for that, the Black Panther soundtrack would have remained #1.
  2. I just don't get why Teen Titans #12 is regarded as the first appearance. Didn't Metal #2 release on the same day and doesn't that story procede Teen Titans #12? Doesn't make sense to me.
  3. I saw an interview with the cast mentioned that it wasn't just a largely black cast. But the fact that they were portraying characters that children could look up to. They weren't criminals, drug dealers, slaves, etc. Instead, they got to portray, strong warrior women, scientists, roles that promoted strong African heritage/traditional themes, etc.
  4. I'm not sure what regions specifically count as "West and East Africa", but BP is the highest grossing film of all time amongst the countries that make up those zones. http://deadline.com/2018/03/black-panther-third-weekend-red-sparrow-death-wish-operation-red-sea-detective-chinatown-2-international-box-office-1202310277/
  5. That's brutal. I mean, if she knows you like comics, I would hope she would have the presence of mind to go watch it with you sooner so as to avoid spoilers, reviews, hype. Especially after the opening weekend. After 3 weeks, pyschologically, the hype must continue to build until it reaches a point where the movie can't possibly meet those lofty expectations.
  6. side note: it's been 3 weeks and despite all your posts on box office figures, I'm a bit surprised you haven't seen it yet. What's been keeping you?
  7. I think Costco membership is up to $55/year. And I would suspect that each Costco sells different things. For example, my Costco sells Cinemark tickets (which is fine since I'm surrounded by Cinemark theaters). But if you don't really have much of a need to shop at Costco, I'd say spending $55/year just to save a few bucks on movie tickets wouldn't be much help. Alternatively, there are those movie passes that theater chains are coming out with (if you see enough movies each year to make it worthwhile).
  8. Buy the tickets in bulk at Costco ($9). Granted, even that is only slightly cheaper than matinee ($10.75). And save yourself the money of watching in 3D. Unless it's Avatar, it's all pretty much a gimmick.
  9. Thor 1 was definitely better. Mind you, it was far from a perfect movie, but I really liked how it was originally pitched as a sort of Marvel meets Lord of the Rings fantasy film. And it certainly started off that way with the flashback/backstory. Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin had a lot of gravitas. The jokes playing on a man out of place felt more natural and less in your face. And I like how Thor and Loki are portrayed in a more serious tone in the first movie as opposed to the more light hearted jokesters we get by the third film. Ragnarok killed off side characters like red shirted away crew members. The CG was terrible (the Odin scene in particular). Valkyrie didn't really connect with me until after her backstory was revealed, but by then, it was already near the end of the film. And yeah, the talented Cate Blanchett's turn as Hela lacked the same depth of Killmonger (gotta bring it back to BP since we're in a BP thread :P) (NOTE: I should probably omit AntMan from my list until I watch it again since the only thing I remember about it was I didn't like Yellowjacket...at all.)
  10. I....I don't even know where to begin...
  11. I love the original cover. And an homage to SS#4 should be great...but the Black Rider's body is just too awkwardly contorted. Maybe it doesn't necessarily qualify as "the worst cover", but I'd say it's pretty bad.
  12. 1) Captain America: Civil War 2) Captain America: The Winter Soldier 3) Avengers 4) Guardians of the Galaxy 5) Iron Man 6) Black Panther I could extend the list, but we're here to talk about BP. Avengers gets the 3rd spot because it was the first time we saw all these heroes together. Iron Man at 5 because it started it all. Black Panther has its faults (some poor CG, some plot issues), but I keep telling my friends that I think it's the most important Marvel movie to date. Not from a story perspective. But because the socio/political commentary is so relevant. You may agree/disagree with what the movie is saying, but at the end of the day, it means the movie is transcending beyond a simple action film and is making you think. That opens the door to people who would otherwise not watch it. Just like how The Dark Knight was a psychological analysis of the mind. How Logan was about father/son and father/daughter relationships. Basically, it's one of the rare superhero movies that transcends the genre. Alright, I guess if you're wondering... 7) Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 8) Spider-Man: Homecoming 9) Captain America: The First Avenger 10) Avengers: Age of Ultron (you're thinking "What?! This guys crazy." Sure there was a lot of setting up for future films with all the dream sequences. And Ultron was ultimately a disappointing villain. But it introduced Wanda and Vision who played larger roles in Civil War) 11) Iron Man 3 (It was great seeing Tony have to use his head instead of relying on a suit of armor) 12) Thor 13) Doctor Strange 14) Thor: Ragnarok (alright, now you're thinking "now I KNOW this guy is crazy!" Hear me out, Ragnarok was basically a Thor movie dressed like GotG. Guess what? We already have 2 of those movies. They're called GotG and GotG, Vol. 2) 15) Ant-Man (this one might be unfairly low. I only saw the movie once. I need to revisit and possibly move it higher.) 16) The Incredible Hulk 17) Thor 2: Dark World 18) Iron Man 2
  13. I think the post title should have been a bit more specific "Best New/Modern Comic Covers". That being said, I really like Tyler Kirkham's covers.
  14. Bumping up the release date a week makes me so happy.
  15. What I meant was that "The Apocalypse: Year One" goes through issue 15 and then "The Apocalypse: Year Two" goes through like issue 30. So I was thinking of reading up through issue 30 since Year Three presumably won't be finished until issue 45 (at that rate). Otherwise I'll just be left hanging for months on end possibly until the following issue comes out.
  16. I actually just bought the full run in floppy form recently and will be starting it soon. I am a little apprehensive though because of all the delays. I was told each "year" is basically an arc so I might only read up to year 2 or 3 whatever the most recently completed year is. But I've only heard good things so I'm looking forward to it. I have Hickman's full FF/Avengers/Secret Wars run so I really needed more Hickman in my life.
  17. I saw you had 2 copies of Soulfire 7b (one signed on pg 2, one unsigned on pg 3). It looks like the unsigned one might have been claimed so if this (signed) copy is still available
  18. It depends on what people make per hour, but at $20, it wouldn't even be worth my time to create the ad and spend the gas/time to meet the buyer. The memories and nostalgia the books instill would probably be worth more to me.
  19. Seriously. What in God's name is the grail. These books are HUGE.
