  1. Your rationale is meaningless and my rationale is universally true. What were we talking about again?
  2. There is literally nothing to support conjecture that Captain Marvel has the Power Cosmic in the MCU. Nada. Ziltch. Let's move onto something that actually has legs.
  3. Didn't they use non-glossy covers back then? Seems to me like a 70's/80's reprint.
  4. God, I hope I get matched up against @kav. Looks like such an easy win. Doesn't even understand how the contest works!
  5. Yeah, I remember that. I was trying to think of a scene in which she reached out. Drew a blank. That's because it doesn't exist! You got hosed, Gatsby.
  6. Lmfao what!? That sounds like a freakin' blast!
  7. I was struggling to remember the reference he was making. I haven't seen Empire in a few years, so I couldn't readily defend it. I was gonna watch the whole thing tonight just to prove him wrong!
  8. It seriously is way too bad that McAvoy and Fassbender have no chance (right?) of rebooting their roles, within the MCU. I was never a big fan of McKellen as Magneto. I just desired a younger portrayal. Magneto is near the top of my list of "best villains". While Marvel Studios doesn't seem to "flop" on actors, they do have a historical problem with having mediocre-at-best villains outside of Loki and Thanos. Fassbender has really been the perfect Magneto, IMO.
  9. He built the system. It's really easy to fly a "ship" you built and programmed yourself... Common sense. I've criticized Ragnarok for its faults. Despite Captain Marvel having much more, it didn't ruin the movie, and neither require a "rant". No, she doesn't. Why? It's science fiction not meant to be grounded in reality. CM, on the other hand, joins a universe that was intentionally built to feel real. Obviously you haven't realized this in 11 years. I guess you do learn something new everyday, huh? At this point you must be pulling my leg. While what you say in your final sentence is true, the phrase is, "couldn't care less". You're welcome.
  10. Lol what? Did you even watch Iron Man..? Never agreed with Banner piloting that ship in Ragnarok, especially after the PhD back-and-forth. Captain Marvel does not have the Power Cosmic. The Force never needed an explanation. Marvel Studios has purposefully grounded the MCU in "reality". Star Wars wasn't written to be related to. It's "couldn't care less". Google is your friend.
  11. Yeah, he just sent me a message. I'll get 'im grades today. You all got hosed. I'm gonna win it.
  12. Kinda hoping that she and Vision are permanently done after Endgame. Let Thanos kill off half the characters in some "final battle". Get rid of the McGuffin products. Marvel Studios has the opportunity to do a lot of great things to end Phase 3. "Off"ing the characters that don't truly matter, along with some who do, was hopefully a priority.
  13. To be fair, he was never a compelling character in the MCU. He's just another McGuffin product. The problem with his existence is highlighted in the Civil War battle. The McGuffin lovers could simply end it themselves, and yet they didn't, just "cuz". Edit: It's okay and fine to have characters that aren't compelling, and/or aren't focal points. You need a mix. However, a character with his/her own movie, the title character, should be one who is (mostly) fully understood. If it wasn't for SHIELD/Fury and some great writing, this easily could've been a bust.
  14. Can we revel in the fact that the de-aging CGI was nearly perfect in this film? Sam Jackson looked perfect other than 1 quick shot.
  15. Are you implying that I loved Spider-Man's and Black Panther's inclusions to Civil War? I'm not falling for another strawman argument. Her powers are not explained in the slightest. She does not have the Power Cosmic. That's not how it works. It's a valid expectation to be given enough information about a character that is allegedly going to lead the franchise past the Iron Man Era. This was a very questionable "origin" story that doesn't give one much to be invested in. Power for power's sake isn't compelling. And to think that my main concern was going to be Larson's acting...
  16. Lmfao we're talking about the MCU, keyboard warrior. There are pretty clear examples that explain most of all their heroes powers and how they work. Captain Marvel is an exception, which is why it's a middle of the pack film. Combat training does not equal understand of "cosmic power". You're the only one arguing about her gender. I'm just looking for equal billing if I'm expected to understand how this character is to tip the scales one way or another. Right now there is no good reason to expect that, which is why I'm hoping that Feige is, again, misleading us.
