  1. Does this mean that I only lost by 2 points!? GG @Warlord. I consider myself redeemed.
  2. I think that Gunn may have thought the great humor of GotG 1 was one of the only redeeming qualities, when in fact, the entire movie was just done so well. So he overloaded GotG Vol 2 with too much. GotG Vol 2 is easily one of the worst MCU films because of it. If he can get back to all of the qualities that made the first one such a "surprising" hit, then the finale to the trilogy could be great. Having a team of mostly nobodies defeat a Celestial was just blatantly bland and boring. The heroes never faced adversity. The only redeeming stories were those of Rocket + Yondu and Gamora + Nebula. Everything else was filler. Hours of filler.
  3. Oh, man. I am so freaking excited for this sequel. 2014's Godzilla was amazing.
  4. I suppose, but when the movie is 'meh', it asks for less trust. A great movie will otherwise allow you to ignore 'small' things like this, but our curiosity is more piqued, since a 'meh' movie may more or less screw with a coherent timeline.
  5. I know that Nick Fury told Cap in The Avengers, "Howard Stark fished it out of the ocean when he was looking for you", but when was that? How did Mar-Vell did ahold of it? This certainly makes thing muddy.
  6. At the end of The Avengers (2012 - 2010 timeline according to some - but that would screw up the MCU timeline if they change the year of the Invasion of New York), Thor and Loki return to Asgard using the Tesseract. It was in Odin's Vault until Loki swiped it in Ragnarok.
  7. You were 0-14. I was 0-15. We both had 0 wins, but my losses were a touch worse. I'm about to get my ____ pushed in by Warlord.
  8. That's true. Amber Heard is ridiculously hot, though. Brie Larson seems closer to Anne Hathaway than Amber Heard - to me. I'm an insufferable a-hole, so when I complain about someone being unlikable, that really takes some awful personality.
  9. You rooted for the wrong guy... The seeding round has destroyed my confidence. I'll never be able to grade a book accurately ever again...
  10. I think I saw her on Conan once, and she seemed pretty nice. She's not really a "big picture" casting, I don't think, although she's allegedly in Endgame. Larson, on the other hand, is/was expected to overtake Downey Jr. as the lead for this franchise. Marvel Studios may need to look at a different approach after he "alienating" comments and her stiff personality. Personally, I'm surprised that they didn't initially plan for Holland to take over. He's their character actor for their most-recognized property! Although, Sony does have their hands in the pot... I'm not a big fan of Kimmel's, and I felt really bad for the guy. He handled the situation well.
  11. Gal Gadot is such a likable woman, too. It's just so weird, because I can't even think of another MCU actor who isn't likable. How did this happen? I normally love it when I see their character actors on late night shows, and in interviews, etc. Sebastian Stan is kinda bland, but he's not unlikable. All of the Phase 1 guys and gals are awesome. Paltrow is "meh", but again, not unlikable. All of Phase 2 actors - great. Benedict, Wong, the entire Guardians cast, Holland is a treasure, the entire Black Panther cast, they're all great. And then there's Brie. How did they get this so wrong? I am confused.
  12. I think the problem was that someone said, "don't double-check yourself, go with your initial gut, or you'll psych yourself out". Which I did. And obviously did not work. He screwed me! I feel like I can grade fairly competently. I had no expectations of being at the top, but dead last? My life is a lie...
  13. Where did the flavors of the week go with their Friday threads? Someone call up VH1 for a new "Where Are They Now" segment.
  14. Can't access YouTube on my work PC. One of the more-cringe ones is the Jimmy Kimmel one from about a week ago. One of my YT friends said that she saw it and couldn't get past the first minute because of how awful she is. I gotta agree.
  15. Oh, man. I don't know why, but I just watched a few of her interviews, and Brie Larson is such an unlikable person... Yikes.
  16. They'll have $4 comics in $50 plastic cases...
