low grading
theCapraAegagrus replied to marvinjoan's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
1 very low-quality image will not really allow any of us to agree with your assessment. CGC is not the 'only game in town', and anyone suing them would be ill-prepared to legally deal with the subjective nature of third-party grading. I don't see it happening. You paid them to grade your book, they graded your book, and you simply disagree. They provided you the exact service that you paid for... Without some HQ images, we're all at a loss of being able to agree or disagree with the grade they assessed. -
Iron Man #55 Thanos
theCapraAegagrus replied to AngelaGadley's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
CGC-ed keys are $$$$$. Buyers risk undisclosed restoration, or other flaws, with raw purchases. Encapsulated non-keys issues can be anchors. Hopefully this isn't another drive-by post... -
Typically, I don't login on the weekends. Typically, claiming that someone else is "stirring the pot", is actually "stirring the pot".

I just... Don't understand... Why would someone bid on an item that they have no intention of paying for? I bid on 10 items this past week that I wanted, but 3 of them got out-of-hand quickly. I didn't really want 70% of the set, and thankfully someone outbid me on all of them, but I would still honor my bids had they won. And if that isn't the case, why would someone give their kid(s) access to their eBay account..? I just... Don't understand...

Got my shopping done on Saturday. I also picked up a sealed set of the original Star Wars trilogy theatrical versions on DVD for $25 at a place that buys used comics/books/movies/games... Those normally go for $100+ online... I have an experimental idea of wrapping the gift(s). Hopefully it works out and is enjoyed!

That's interesting... I don't see a post from the OP asking about your copy of the book... Please keep your posts on-topic and refrain from boasting about your collection. There's many selling forums here if you're looking to sell something. Otherwise, I don't think anyone's interested in the quality of your copies vs the ones being discussed.

Why do you make every thread about you, and your brother, and some LCS that you know the exact city but not the name of the store that allegedly tries to "rob" all of its customers..? The topic is not about your copy of the book.

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
theCapraAegagrus replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Finally, a reasonable listing for Batman: Damned. Bought 1 for $40 from a fair seller. Considering it's a 1st Edition that won't be reprinted the same, I consider it a fair price. I still haven't been able to read the Damn book yet. Cooling down? -
Any further info on Daredevil Netflix show?
theCapraAegagrus replied to rabidwolf's topic in The Movie Forum
This is good news, because I'd like to see Daredevil in the MCU soon. -
One of my friends posted this dumb thing to FB a couple of times (and I corrected him both times): "One day, you'll be sitting in a theater watching a Marvel movie, and by the end of it you'll have this weird feeling as if something's missing. Then, at the end, you'll see "Dedicated to Stan Lee" and realize he didn't make a cameo." He has cameos in both Captain Marvel and Avengers 4. I was told that both of them will be dedicated to Stan Lee. After that, it would be astronomically unlikely, that future films will be dedicated to him. They may definitely be credited to him. Some people don't use their brains when posting or sharing on FB (or elsewhere).

At this point, should I just crack them out of the case?
theCapraAegagrus replied to NoMan's topic in Comics General
Makes sense. No debate here - I don't have a preference. Just wanted to understand why you're looking specifically for unpressed books. I guess Idk the difference between the two. I know that my small collection of graded books are all unpressed, and all of my raw books are also unpressed. -
If CGC sees a crack
theCapraAegagrus replied to KobaltDog's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I think the OP is asking about people cracking a slab open to effectively make it a raw. -
My best friend had the Marvel and DC apps, but reading on an electronic device didn't do anything for him, so he didn't want to pay money to read comics on his phone/iPad. Same with me and my parents. We all have things for physical books. I guess, since my brothers don't have any artistic creativity, they don't appreciate having physical artwork. They're more into video games (I am, too, but I don't play nearly as often as they do). There's a good side and a bad side to all of this: Good: Market less-saturated with people looking for the same books as you. Bad: Hobby dying down means market may be less saturated with supply.

What's the draw to having unpressed books? Does CGC notate pressing in their grading notes? -
Has anyone had an Ebay buyer claim your book was a fake?
theCapraAegagrus replied to JaySlim's topic in Comics General
If he paid via checking account, I think it's very unlikely that he wins any such cases from his financial institution. It's the customer's money. Now, if he paid via credit card, then the tune could change. In those cases, it's the bank's money, and they want you accruing interest and paying annual fees (and earning them network transaction fees). It goes from about 0.1% to 25% chance they side with the cardholder if it's a credit transaction. Then, there's also the case of AmEx v Discover v Visa v Mastercard. If he paid with a credit card and it's AmEx/Discover, the likelihood increases (Visa Signature and World Elite Mastercard have considerably close standards to these 2 networks). A normal Visa or Mastercard holder is at the entire whim of his/her individual bank, and they're probably half as likely to side with the customer as the previous 4 mentioned. No matter how you cut it, this customer is a DB.
