  1. You'll find varying opinions on this. I would hazard to guess more people would care about the centering/color depth of the book rather than pages. There are some cases where for whatever reason a specific issue number is frustratingly tough to find in white like Silver Surfer 1 or just a rando issue of the top of my head like ASM 48 or maybe 49. In those cases you might have to pony up some more. If you dig deep enough into sales data for bronze silver, as I think some boardies have posted before, you may find white pagers *slightly* outperform in general. I think two general things to keep in mind: the older the book is the more attractive the white pages and once you get lower than off white the value gets dinged. In my case, I've discovered the hard way you can't obsess on pages at the expense of centering! A poorly wrapped book may eventually overtake what's on the label driving you to want to replace. But hey that's just one opinion.
  2. Not a chance it maxed out! There's too much new blood in the hobby for at the very least, X1 and early new XM not to keep running. It is too popular of a title! Anything involving MCU will obviously supercharge this but I don't even believe that's necessary for this title to keep chugging along, albeit not as crazy as last year
  3. Yeah they could end up introducing them away from the big screen on a streaming service assuming they ever do at all. Everyone assumes X-men will appear in some form but Feige may decide not to. My intuition is to believe a big splashy debut on the big screen is best but what do I know . I'm just hoping we don't get too many more Eternals, Captain Marvel type stuff before a major franchise comes in. Oh Jesus If they ever do more Guardians of the galaxy
  4. I'd have to think, from the perspective of the kids seeing it the first time, the artwork on that page made an impact. Just imagine being ten, having no idea of Punisher or Jackal then suddenly seeing that cover followed by the splash! A torrential flood of cool 🤟‼
  5. As mentioned before, one of the few "gateway" covers that hooked me in as a kid. This thing stuck to my brain like gorilla glue
  6. I think that issue was on sale the day JFK was assassinated. Crazy to think how old these books are!
  7. He has an Ebay account where I've seen so many signed books before knowing who he was. I wish I'd put him on the saved seller list. Unfortunately I have no idea what his username is. Edit : nevermind it's in the end of the video....palmtreecomics.
  8. Yeah you get a little jaded from handling slabs for so long, easy to forget how small and fragile a comic is. It makes you appreciate a 50 year old 9.8 that much more.
  9. Took advantage of an upgrade opportunity. Love this cover!
  10. Noteworthy result here. It is a Parsow copy and they have gone higher in general but still a blowout result! Congrats to both buyer and seller!
  11. What's the story with Oregon coast collection slabs on HA??? Just tracking a random sample of books tonight and in the past blowing by GPA highs! These were not only 9.8s but some 9.2, 9.0 in there as well. They weren't significant keys either just random issues. I don't know whether it's typical HA madness or something to do with this collection?
  12. Someone might of mentioned this, but another important factor is sentimental reasons. You read here all the time about older collectors having a raw they bought off the rack or inherited being important parts of their collections, don't wish to have entombed for sentimental reasons. If it holds significant value then it'll be up to their relatives to do what they will. So It would make perfect sense for someone to have a certified copy plus the one they wish to remain raw assuming they don't plan on selling! I have a small example of an ASM 312 I have graded and another that belonged to my cousin he bought off the rack I recall from my childhood. I'd rather keep the raw copy exactly where it is
  13. OA usually goes for multiples upon multiples of comics for good reason! This seems like some people thinking ahead about MCU doing something Secret wars related down the road. Or just some scenario where Holland discovers the symbiote somehow?
  14. Yeah another point would be to have one slab and one old reader copy but I don't think thats what the OP meant. I'm sure a whole bunch of collectors have examples of that.
  15. Usually to have one blue label and another yellow label. I have several issues I've done this with. Usually a blue/Romita yellow. In another case I have three copies, blue and two yellows (one Romita one Stan). There are several FFs I'd love 3 copies with example being....a blue FF49 accompanied by a Stan yellow and a Sinnott yellow....or perhaps even a copy with verified Kirby sig on the cover. That being said, I couldn't stand to have two blue labels of same issue.
  16. So as difficult as it was to part ways with the 9.6 I'm consigning, I couldn't be happier with the replacement
  17. This is a downgrade from a 9.6 I'm going to consign for auction. Very happy with it!
  18. Nothing will compete with Kirby's FF Thor creativity but Mister Fear and Plunderer deserve a mention. I would add the Owl in there but only when Romita drew him. Throw in some interesting Kazar material and silver age DD isn't all bad.
  19. I just bought two books on Instagram both being replacements of other copies, XM94, FF61. The only way I'm aware of to search a specific title or title with number is using hashtags. Example being....#asm50, #asm50cgc in the search box. I wish there was a way to track every slab that sells there!
