  1. Nah that's not an option since I work in a bakery. Maybe I'd consider it if they gave me a delivery time frame but I don't keep consistent working hours since the baking work load dictates how long I'm there. Even though I trust my co workers I still wouldn't want it laying around there anywhere near the heat from ovens etc, etc. I'd have to trust whomever received it to immediately take it to the office assuming its even open? FedEx has a drop off option for all packages at any Walgreens. You could re-route the package to your nearby Walgreens while it's in transit. Be nice if USPS did that since I have one near me. Yeah It'd be very convenient to be in an office with a reception area that's for sure! The biggest frustration is that as far as I know USPS's hold mail option is not available for signature priority mail packages so they still attempt delivery even when alerting them no one will be home to sign ! Can't remember how many times I've tried getting them to avoid these delivery attempts to no avail!!! It's frustrating! I mean more times than not things go well with USPS but there's definitely issues
  2. Postal service works on a shoe string budget. They're vastly underfunded, their equipment & tracking system is antiquated. This obviously results in massive inefficiency! As someone that depends on them more than I'd like it would be nice to see them fully privatize but that's unworkable due to a number of reasons. I mainly use them because it's not always possible to fully insure packages with other carriers. The X-Men 97 I recently posted was sent priority and got here late. Was sent from California to Miami. It was supposed to get here Friday in which I took off early from work to be home for the signature. Ended up losing a half day of work for nothing waiting around all day for these clowns to show up & of course they didn't. Showed up the next day dropped off at my door. Who knows how long the box was just sitting there?...a book worth ~1.5 - 2k mind you. That example is just the tip of the iceberg.
  3. At this point probably when I got IH 182 to complete the wolverine trilogy. Suppose that'll get surpassed whenever I get around to adding X-Men 94 so I could finish off this mini X-Men run I'm aiming for
  4. Anybody see this auction on Pedigree that ended few days ago? 9.8 off white 13,500! The last two 9.6 copies sold for highest ever, north of 6k. Guys this thing is officially en FUEGO!!!! https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction/comic/064993/giant-size-x-men-1-cgc-98-ow
  5. Wow man.... sounds like good times for sure! 7-11, talk about a relic of the past that's now turned into CVS ! Also paper routes are a relic since I don't know who reads newspapers regularly anymore? Yeah those times were pretty tight with all that hyper inflation going on! Comics went from 25 to 30 cents which probably made a difference to a kid back then. Curious did you ever fire up a joint or two back in the day? Edit: my bad, CVS was Eckerd drugs back in the day not 7-11.
  6. Nice date stamp!!! Love those! Looks like a bright copy! One particular pet peeve is when they're overwrapped in silver & bronze. In other words when the price tag is too close to the spine or in some cases kind of half visible. Those are maddening
  7. I've combed over every non 9.8 I have and the only one that I'm relatively sure of an upgrade is a 9.6 iron Man 16 since it has a small pressable defect. Out of those I listed the ASM 110 is just one corner short of a 9.8. I think CGC allows slight wear on 2 corners but not 3. Where did you buy your comics in the 70's? First comics I bought were in 1991 at my LCS
  8. Usually I try to buy both book and label but it's a case by case with me. These are a few examples of where I was seeking out 9.8 but chose eye appeal. I also have a #74 in 9.4 that I wanted higher grade but opted for the centering. Don't have the pic since it's being reholdered due to slab being smeared with giant Newton rings. Only the 80 here which was bought here on the board was at a decent price which did factor in.
  9. He's my second favorite x man. I think Wein designed the red vest a little too pointy at the shoulders though. Do you own ASM 161 or 162?
  10. X-MEN 94 highest of all for 70 but IH 181 just 35? Wow! And X-Men 95-100 for 35 each? Guess people were really really into new X-Men at the time. Whatever I'd get would include IM 55, ASM 101, 124 129. Not sure if X-Men 120 was in there but definitely that one with X 101, 107
  11. I'd imagine the majority of collectors feel this way. Personally I liken these custom labels to a signature series book. There are plenty of books I'd like them on but others I wouldn't. I think if the cover is particularly splashy and colorful (ASM 122 or 124 being examples) then having an artful label on top of that wouldn't make sense. In other hand it would be a better fit for a less flamboyant or showy cover As the labels stands now however based on their recent promotional video the artwork is not retro enough for me at least so probably won't do it other than maybe 2 iron mans
  12. You must have some kind of insurance claim then because your item showed up damaged resulting in value depreciation
  13. You know I've had USPS packages go through more adventurism than I care for and I had one box show up looking similar to that one (Fear #20 CGC). It's a total disgrace !!!! Can you access the book through the slab? The only way CGC regrades is if the book is accessable through the slab or if there's clear damage to the book resulting from the breaking of the slab. Have you looked into what your insurance claim options are if any??? This really blows man! I always try to avoid USPS whenever possible but it's tough on eBay purchases.
  14. Yeah since Lone Star is in Dallas area like I think you're from
  15. I wonder how collectible stamps figure into this? It's obviously not a precious metal or legal tender nor entertainment. I assume it'll depend on the stamp but if you go to a stamp dealer with the stamp equivalent of say...a high grade FF48 or IH181 in terms of census #'s & market demand (if there is an equivalent) what value return could be expected? I'm guessing it'll be closer to what you'd expect with a comic. Anyways how the heck did climate denialism of all things somehow work it's way into this thread??? This thing has wildly gone off the rails! BTW IH 181 is not overvalued imo. If it was then the market would have corrected itself across all grades by now
  16. First Romita Spider-Man ! Yeah that's reason enough!!! Absolutely glorious book and congratulations
  17. yeah I hear ya. Auctions could be whacky! An IH 181 9.2 auctioned for 8k on C-link not too long ago and a 9.4 auctioned north of 11k just recently on eBay. Outliers happen. Anyways it's a mute point since I think it's being re-auctioned
  18. Yeah and there was another C-LINK 9.8 151 ow/w with a little better eye appeal that sold for 1600. There's quite a variance there. Geez is a white page copy really worth that much more? I think not! The 148 wasn't even a greatly centered copy either. The marvel banner was also a bit misaligned. There was a recent 148 9.8 white with perfect registration in Heritage auctioned for around 1000 less than the 4k C-link one you referred to. Those 2 were really great results for the sellers! Edit: my bad, the 148 i mentioned auctioned for over 5k. So yeah 4k seems right on that C-link one
  19. Oh ok I was just going by what was indicated in this thread. I hate FB & am trying to boycott it! It makes my eyes bleed!!!
  20. Not sure I follow? Are you saying that because the new team was portrayed by Fox so many times that MCU shouldn't bother?
